julie bowen’s subtle physical comedy is so underrated. the way she could have just been another annoying wife/straightman character but puts so much nuance into the drama and so much unappreciated detail into the comedy

bruh I the latter season she is straight up bitchy which happened actually in other shows too, like Big Bang theory where the girls became bitchy af in the latter seasons, after the me too movement and the whole female empowerment movement, writers apparently felt like the best way to show how strong and independent they are is by portraying them as overly bitchy instead of giving them proper arcs that reflected the current social climate in an intelligent way.

good foil to phil and it works for the show most of the time but she is an awful person/character - lying, deceitful, horrible to gloria, the icing on the cake was season 7 when she basically got handed a top job by her dad when she was clearly unfit to do the job, and then she made out like the big i am for the rest of the season.
This is SITCOM, dude. Chill, don't over-analyse it. Everything is for laughs here She was also good at her job, had qualifications and became a real pro in the process - and she's good with Gloria, they are friends, what are you watching?
