THANK YOU!
No one gonna mention the Sponge Bob Superbowl show in the research footage lmao 0:47
no, because apparently Squidward and his drummer, Patrick, didn't use any e-drums.
Rinaldo Jonathan Patrick did play Electric drums though lol.
Put respect on the Bubble Bowl.
BrandonPryorMusic looks like a Simmons SDSV to me lol
Ha ha ha ha ha. Dude that was good 👍. I asked him why he was trying to produce such a lame 😂. .. well what the heck is he doing. He took a couple Polaroid pictures and he off and running with a bunch a mumbo jumbo about electric drumbo?Lol. Ahhhhhh I'm just kidding. What ever gets him threw his night. None of my bee's wax
Man these guys have crazy gear, some of these drumsets are even fancier than my TD1-DMK.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is the new version of the video I released yesterday. There were few mistakes that I wanted to fix. Thank for helping make the video as accurate as possible, and thanks for watching!
Glad the link I posted helped! Great vids man.
Thanks Charlie! I spent several hours re-working the video in a couple ways because of yours, and a few other peoples comments. It's hard to catch everything by myself :)
Awesome video as always Justin!!! 👍 🤘
@@65Drums you doing great man we all are very appreciative and know this isn't easy! much love thanks
Most of the audio are tracks. There is almost nothing being played live. The Who only had live guitar and vocals. Bruno’s drums were live for his solo. Flea didn’t even plug his bass in for the Super Bowl Show.
As someone who has been on Super Bowl host committees and attended production meetings in the past, you are very correct. Admittedly it’s been years ago, but the rule of thumb was lead vocals and lead guitar were live, EVERYTHING ELSE TRACKS. I’m sure there have been exceptions (Bruno is an excellent example), but the logistics of a pop up concert and the massive worldwide audience means unnecessary risks are to be avoided. Fortunately for them, pop music is already laden with tracks so the adjustments are minimal for the performers. RHCP took some heat as if somehow THEY were the ones running a scam when in actuality, they were playfully revealing the sham. Props to RHCP.
@@silvermineband2719and after the Taylor Swift fiasco, people are once again picking up how much the Super Bowl is just fluff and no stuff. All they care about is getting non-football fans to buy football tickets to make profit margins or whatever it is.
I've been in the market for a new E-drum kit recently and came across your channel. I just wanted to say that although I'm not heavily into drumming, I really enjoy your videos. You're very knowledgeable and well-spoken. Thanks for what you do.
Thank you for the video really informative and watching you from the start
My band moved to electronic drums 4 years ago and use all amp modelers. A quite stage is a blessing on the ears.
Thank you Justin for another great video
Thanks for watching mike!
Awesome video! This type of video is just so freaking interesting!
I also think this is really the only part of the super bowl I care about, other than the ads.
Great video! Nice to see how other drummers plays live!
Great video Justin. Thanks for all the great info you put out.
Thanks Arnaldo! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Great video, Justin. Thank you!
This was interesting. Even with limited information, I appreciate you laying out what was there. #goinhardinthetriggers
Great video Justin - with a lot of research!
Great vid man very interesting👍
Great idea for the vid!
very well done video.
This is actually a very interesting video. Our pursuit to super-duper 8K 3D full immersion of sound and video must be a problem for the people in charge of the music. I would think in the beginning, drummers just needed the extra gear for triggering stuff from the record, but I am starting to think it's *VERYYY* loud in the stadium and getting a 99% studio-like live sound is beyond theoretical physics and mathematics.
Anyways, who wouldn't like to add gear to their kit?! Especially when companies are giving them to you for free!
Thanks Justin!
Yeah ! Interesting video ! Thank tou
very well done! (what a research work)
great video
awesome content man !! keep up the great work.
Drums 4 Funs*
You did an amazing job!
Thanks Chris!
Cool concept video
No one's ever done a video like this, so I thought I'd take a crack at it. Glad you enjoyed it :)
I have been playing E-Kits exclusively since 2k, the only way to go!!!!! LIVE!!!!!!
very interesting content
Never been to a S.B. party, never will. Great work Justin, thank you.
Yo man, could you make a video about stacking metal cymbals on top of rubber E cymbals? DonutDrums did this in his video "ULTIMATE ELECTRIC DRUM SET part 2". It seems like a really cool idea, and i want to try it but im not shure if it will work. I dont have any metal cymbals and I dont know if I should buy them to try this. I cant find anything about it on the internet. It would be awesome if you could make a video about it or just share your expirience about it here. Does it still trigger, do you keep 3 zones on your cymbal?
Wow I've now watched more super bowl halftime footage then in my whole life leading up to now. But thanks for your effort. Can someone roll the marching band footage now?
Wow young Abe takes the meaning of hi hats to another dimension. Very high
Love BFM! He’s posted maps of his tour rigs
really interesting.
They sound amazing even live, but not as fun to play with mesh heads. Missing that raw drum sound you can only feel and hear behind the kit. Still love them but I prefer to play hybrid acoustic/electric live
Hey Justin.Could u do a review of the nux dm1 drumset and the roland hd3.Two drumsets I own but I’d love to know your thoughts. Many thanks
Hello Justin what's your thoughts on Tourtech drums ?
What you think about Kat vs Alesis drums ?
Thanks for another great video. You had to do a lot of homework! How the heck did you do it?
It took forever and I had to dig around alot of drummer twitter accounts to find their personal photos of the kits. I also straight up had to watch all 20 shows, and just alot of googling
That’s crazy! I have to admit I’m just as bad!🤓 Thanks again Justin!🤘🏽
Hello i wanted to ask you a question so i came on your video. Can you use a drum trigger on a drum that already has a mic on it. or would it be too hard to mix everything? thanks
Brian Frasier is the standard for the Super Bowl 🐐
Chad Smith: Am I a joke to you?
A lot of live engineers are using triggers for gating tho.
Not saying it wasn't used to trigger a sample (whether it's for layering sound or full replacement for live or post.)
But when you see a trigger it doesn't always have to be sample related for people whom might not know.
Cool video tho, great that the big guys are starting to use electronics more and more.
What cymbals are those on the last kit black Lamborghini
Let's get rocked
Just so you know nothing is live at the super bowl besides lead vocals and key solo elements. The band records the songs in a rehearsal. Those are mixed and the tracks are played back. Almost nobody plays live because the changeover time does not allow for that to be smooth.
Thanks for showing the drummers that used pads and triggers on the super bowl, now how did they use it?
They don't. It's all for show. All the music for the halftime show is backing track. Only the vocals are live. It's been that way for 20 years with the NFL.
What's the cymbals in the 2020 one
What are those E-cymbals being used by Brian Frasier Moore?
I recently got to see The Who in Tampa FL, (with the full orchestra I may add!) of featuring Zak Starkey on drums. He was playing the same DW conversion kit featured in this installment of 65 Drums. Calling this kit visually spectacular is an Understatement... ESPECIALLY when they're hit with stadium lights! Other than a couple of small audio issues (the cymbal volume could've been kicked up a notch) the sound quality was amazing! FOOTNOTE: this was the infamous show where Roger Daltrey pitched a fit and stopped the show mid song because of an ear bug monitor issue. Apparently he was only able to hear 1 instrument through his ear buds. Yep, it was Zaks drums!
Justin could you please do a video on live streaming drums in skype or zoom because I’m trying to start to live-streaming drums like the 8bit drummer it would be cool if you could make a video on it
What kind of cymbals are those?? Are painted on the top??
9:47 Now that's a lot of drum sticks.
Go through each frame between 0:47 and 0:48
Why didn’t you add some clips of songs into your video 😢
Would Super Bowl be your dream gig Justin?, you certainly have the options covered for the correct gear. Why football?, I mean it’s a minimum of four kicks to play it and occasionally that figure reaches double figures.
So, does no pro drummer use even a high-end Alesis Strike SE kit at big gigs? I've never seen "serious" drummers using full e-kits in the wild. Why is this?
I keep asking the same question! Who’s buying all these electronic kits from all these different manufacturers? Clearly there is demand. And Roland , Alesis, Pearl, DW, Yamaha go to all that trouble to make kits almost indistinguishable from acoustics, yet you never see a VAD, Strike, DTX or Mimic kit on a stage anywhere. Weird. Why is this? And they’re pricey too.
Do 2021 please?
Here is my question: 9:52 what on earth are those cymbals? They look sexy as well.
-No Talent was also used during the Black Eyed peas set either
What about chad smith
Hey, I have a random question. Is there any way to map pads on my Kat KT1 electronic kit to GarageBand? Thanks.
I'm not even drummer but I watched the whole thing
xxkornmetalxx
Then why do you have drums in your profile pic.
Technically the Black Eyed Peas record the majority of their songs using an 808 and since they just played to a backing track, that’s electronic. Lol.
2:05 d drum red shot
The last set (2020) are not the same,! look at the tom holders? The first seems to be a Yamaha with electronic cymbals and the second it’s a pearl with Sabian Cymbals, same configuration but no same drumsets.
look closely, the electric kit is off to the right side of the acoustic kit
Cameramen really hate to show the drummers indeed and it's frustrating!!!
definitely a ddrum trigger
Plzzzzzz do George Daniel of the 1975
Zak's cymbals were triggered for the Who's SB performance because all the paint they put on them deadened the sound to a comedic level. I've played that exact kit and its laughable, they sound like plastic.
This really has nothing to do with the superbowl. Its more oriented around drummers who use edrums and whether they where using them when they appeared at the superbowl. The connection is specifically related to the drummers who appeared at the superbowl and whether they use edrums as apposed to "how drummers used edrums at the superbowl"
What in the fuck is this 'superbowl'? I always wondered. Having image of bowling and Big Lebowski everytime I'd heard it. Bill Burr constantly 'blabl...superbowl this and that...blabla' on mmpodcast.
So I wondered but never cared enough to look up. Would never believe that looking up drumsets is gonna be the way for me to finally see what your american superbowl is..
Thank you.
Great video! always enjoy all the stuff that you post. but. its worth to mention that all the music that play on this event is not live.. only the vocals is the live. the musicians are not
Can I just say, when you said "Artists like this don't buy gear, companies just mail them stuff for free" They really don't dude.... Love your videos and you do great stuff but that isn't true. The is SO much more to it!
Bro, drum companies mail ME free drumsets (and I don't even have a hundred thousand subscribers). Imagine what they do for artists that have millions of fans. Endorsements totally are a thing. You have to sign stuff and whatever, but I will not take back my statement that artists get stuff for free.
Drums are the one thing they cant fake live. But using electronic kits helps because theres no stage sound nor indications of missed hits like a normal kit. Its way more forgivable.
In five years or so most of the public performances will feature an electronic drumset
Great vid.....but my time just seemed to be slightly wasted.....worthy of this comment
So what's your point. You haven't showed but a couple pictures. Brake it down live instead of using a Polaroid.
Did you know Stevie wonder isn't completely blind?
My god. Alot of these guys are really setting up their drums incorrectly.
I'm poor
Not really. Most real musicians anyway. Super Bowl halftime shows for the last couple of years has turned into garbage....
Shakira faked guitar and drums last show
ok bro
