I found a 73B 17 years ago with a 1/4 inch of dust and dirt on it on consignment sale at a garage that deals with british cars. No history of the car and no knowledge of an MGB, but I had it safety checked by the garage to meet bare minimum to be on the road. I picked it up 2 weeks later and drove it 6 hours to my house, i drove it as it was for 12 years then did a total restoration in my garage with my own paint job with a 1973 Rover color called Black Tulip. Absolutely love the old car smell and the smell of it driving. I plan to keep the car as long as I can crawl under it to maintain the car.

Great video Mr Jimi, always been a fan of the MGB. I regret letting my 1974 go a number of years ago. I share the same philosophy of saving the dead and neglected cars of our past, and not over restoring them. Working on one of my old Fords now ,but keeping my eye out for another B to be saved. My 74 MGB was one very long Zen moment in time, just hearing the engine run and feeling the wind in your hair is the best. I see you are in Bucks County, I'm in Monroe County a little south of Stroudsburg Pa. Like to meet you and your car some time when the weather up, great video, thanks... Edward

Greetings from over the pond! Smashing video, got to be one of the best presented and informative MGB films so far, especially for the seemingly unloved rubber bumper MGB’s which I actually prefer and own myself. They are lovely little cars, simple to look after and as you say have great spares back-up especially over here in the UK. Thanks again and enjoy your MGB👍

Hey now. thanks for noticing the work I put into this video.
Rubber bumper MGBs will aways be within reach.

What a great video. And fantastic project. You have a real knack for fixing old cars and capturing their essence on film. Love the patina. Looking forward to the next project!

Keep some spare ignition rotors handy. The current replacements seem to short out very quickly, unless you get the blue or red ones that are a bit more expensive.

I had a few of those, always a blast. "not a lot of power, but gumption."
my last one was a FI V6 conversion, now that was a fun one.

Don't know what I would do with more speed and power unless I worked on the suspension a bit.

@@jimibreeze that was the beauty of it all-100 lbs. lighter than the stock cast iron-no suspension upgrades and it behaved quite well.

Very inspiring video and great project, love the "keep it as you found it" look, well done. Great inspiration for folks to find a project and get it rollin again.

Not too different from my experience with a TR7, and more recently, with a '72 MGB that I've had for around a year. I vowed not to touch the MGB until the TR7 was mint. So now I've been driving the MGB. Need to do some carb tuning and she should be smooth. And I agree with you about the simplicity and fun these cars are bursting with. I'm working on brakes now too. Good luck with your sweet MGB. I'm glad it's in capable hands that will maintain it the right way.

@@jimibreeze Absolutely Jimi breeze. I'm addicted for life! Great video. "Old car machinery smell" for sure.
These things have the coolest sounds as well. I live in Long Island, NY so I will either need to learn how to weld one day, or find a place that does. My car is solid now, I believe, so I'm going to do what I can to keep it from rusting any more in the nether regions!! Have a great cruisin' season with your "B". Your vid will help others who want to dive into the world of LBCs (Little British Cars).

My next thing is to change the fuel sending unit so my gas gauge works. She's reading over 200 Ohms with almost a full tank. That's what you get with an empty tank !!! So float probably is not floating - lol. Then two cracked fuel lines by the SU fuel pump. Well, you know how it is....Take care.

My car , also a 77, has no overdrive as this one seems to not have either. 3000 mile road trip? Jeez, 4000 rpm at 70 m.p.h. is agony for a short highway trip let alone a long one.

    • @jimibreeze

Here's a challenge, 3000 mile backroad trip. Stay off the highways and take it all in.
