Your approach to responsible consumption truly resonates with me, and it's something I find missing in most luxury content these days. So many influencers seem to forget what luxury is actually about. When you see people with 20+ Hermès bags, it starts to feel more like expensive mass market than true luxury. Luxury, isn't about excess or amassing collections for the sake of it. It’s about quality, craftsmanship, and choosing pieces that truly bring joy or add value to our lives. It’s something special, not something that should become just another commodity. Your thoughtful approach to luxury, really keeps that spirit alive. Thank you Lou for bringing authenticity and a mindful perspective back into the luxury conversation. It's refreshing, and it's why you're the only luxury influencer I follow.
You took the words right out of my mouth! I totally agree with you regarding responsible consumption, along with what the true meaning of owning beautiful luxury pieces is all about . . . bringing joy to our lives. Take care!
I couldn’t agree with you more! i am doing the same thing. I stopped going crazy for all those expensive items and being more content with what I need. ❤
I totally feel the same...Trendy items are a no go for me at this time in my life unless it is something that still falls under classic in the long run. I aim for forever pieces. Fashion has gotten so fast and the older I get the more I love an edited, classic style
I think the only trendy pieces I would go for is something that would fit exactly my style and personality so much that I can’t pass it, and that I know that it would work out for me for years. Other than that I just try to avoid them
Thank you, Lou, for always bringing such wonderful joy and relaxation to my heart while watching your fabulous videos!! I love visiting different places with you, cooking and painting (which I also love to do), as well as honest chats (like today's video). Thank you!🩷
It’s really nice to hear you say you are straying away from luxury jewelry pieces, it’s so true that you can find something truly unique from local jewellers or by commisioning custom jewelry, instead of owning something that is owned by many other influencers. It’s nice that you already have the pieces that you do, but yes, the asking prices for luxury items is so high. Living in Europe I’m sure there are so many amazing antique, vintage, or local and high quality jewelry to discover just walking down the street :). Nice video! As for me, I have been finding my style too, I am noticing the items in my closet that I bought but am not using much or don’t flatter me. It’s a lot to do with the shape of the clothing, baggy clothes are not for me. Also I’ve been avoiding the logos too much too because I own pieces already with logos. Also costume jewelry or jewelry that isn’t tarnish free. It’s so disheartening to have things tarnish after you spent money on it
I love your approach to this and I just recently started doing the same! Plus I think once we have purchased a lot of various things in different categories we can finally determine our style and what works best for our situation as well~ It's a good feeling to have less sruff and have more positive attachments to the things we own, rather than the things owning us. Timeless items help with this as well!
Your so right about small leather goods and sunnies. The combined price could in few purchase add up to a nice bags. I have a weakness for scarf too, these could also add up to a nice bag in total price.
This was so refreshing to watch. There is nothing with enjoying luxury items but I too am trying to learn to be more meaningful with my buying valuing quality over quantity . I totally agree at them slowing down your phone with the updates with IPhone. I’m not interested in buying the same exact phone year in, year out with the most minimal tweaks.
Hi Lou! I found your channel about 2wks ago and I’ve been catching up on your content from when you began vlogs… I’m really enjoying it as we’re about the same size and I LOVE elevated simplicity since Forever and you’ve pointed out brands and items I’m looking into for purchase - quality over quantity! ESP the trusted resellers for authentic handbags etc. I hope to catch you on the WhatNot Live stream, I signed up bcuz of you. I’m here in the States so happy to catch this new upload 🤗 ~ Kimberly 💜
Hi Lou, I love your hair. Would you do a video on how you got your hair to the current length in such healthy condition, especially being blonde. Thank you. ☺
I agree with most of these. I was a sucker for fancy skincare, but after switching to boring pharmacy skincare, my skin issues have calmed down. I do like fancy sunglasses and glasses: they feel so nice, are a relatively affordable luxury item, and a great way to bring a current style to a basic look.
I love ur strategy. I'm basically doing the same, but since I don't have a great outlet for selling my bags, I'm keeping them, with the exception of gifting one here and there. I'm trying not to buy new bags, not only bc I don't need them (even tho I love a couple greatly) I don't have the lifestyle I once did, so they aren't a priority for me anymore. Regarding cars, I've had fancy cars all my life but have a Prius now so it's changed my mind on having the top of line vehicles. But I will buy a newer fancier hybrid soon.
I think if I was able to make proper use of my dream car I would consider it more. Now I feel like it would be parked most of the time. Maybe when we buy a house on the outside of the city?
@@JesuisLou Of course! I live in a suburban city outside Chicago so I have plenty of opportunities to drive it. However it is not drivable in the snow so I have a cute, sporty older car for that.
I completely agree with all of your no-buy list and I honestly follow all of those. I just upgraded my Iphone after having the 13 for years. I didn't upgrade my Ipad because there were no good deals and I have almost the newest one anyways. And I am doing the same with bags and shoes and I also do that with clothes. It's nice because then you aren't also adding clutter. One thing I also do is not buy from expensive workout brands. I don't see the point in that. I will buy stuff from Old Navy or Target that honestly are more comfortable and way cheaper because you are literally sweating in them so do not get the deal with LuluLemon, etc. I made my husband take back expensive workout clothes he bought me because I told him I could get something I actually need. And for wallets/small items, I will buy Longchamp or Tory Burch wallets and those are so durable and way more affordable. My wallets and pouches get so damaged and dirty, I can't imagine spending thousands on them! Great video!
I agree with almost everything except designer sunnies. I love my designer sunglasses 💕 but I also do agree that there are really nice non-designer ones as well.
Good for you and thank you for making the video. I agree with almost everything you said. I do have a soft spot for VCA. The sweet Alhambra Onyx earrings have been on my wish list a very long time. Like your sunglass situation, I have a poor track record with earrings. I keep feeling like oh for $3000. I could pick up a little handbag!
Same with me! I have such a bad record with earrings too 🤣 I adore van cleef but when I compare to the pieces that my jeweller makes and the prices makes me second guess so much
I really liked the taking time before purchasing trendy items idea. I could definitely use that strategy. I am guilty of purchasing trendy items on a whim😂
Totally agree! In addition, I stopped buying so much high street clothing pieces few years ago. Now, I understand luxury and high quality clothing pieces. I want to invest in things that I wear on a daily basis (trench coat) rather than another bag or some fancy shoes that I might wear once or twice a year. Still love Cartier and VCA though. I think these investment pieces will be more valuable in case we have difficult situations in the future (resale will remain higher than regular local butique gold). Good points as usual, Lou! Happy Autumn 🍂
Great video topic, I agree with everything except the luxury cars but I also live in Canada and we have harsh winters. I think changing economic patterns have many people reconsidering what they purchase from designer brands. I think bags and accessories you are going to wear are fine but some other items seem like a money grab and you don't get your worth from them.
To me as for now, no more Hermès items. I shopped in the boutique for few years and I have enough to last me a lifetime, no more! No more silks or bag accessories, again, I own enough. I’m not planning to buy new bags but if I do, I decided that I will do the one in, one out like you. I have a very hard time letting my bags go, so I think it will totally stop me from getting new ones. Also slg’s, I don’t own that many, but I definitely have enough. Designer jewelry, I have some that I wear and love but now, the jewelry that I would add are not designer. And to top it, I started to buy second hand and I realized how much I love it more than actually shopping in the boutique. I don’t need the boutique experience anymore! Oh and one last thing I’m glad I never really got into is designer rtw, I didn’t spend my money on it and I will continue to stay away!
I could’t agree more and I love being content with what I really love and with what really works for me but if I find something I really like or really want to try I try to justify it by saying can I let something else go? I’ll wait also and see if this feeling passes in a 5-6 months if it doesn’t maybe I need to explore this new item more ☺️☺️💕
I took pretty much similar approach as you with buying designer staff. im currently selling most of the "logo" clothes and not buying them anymore, I find the difficult to re sell as people would love to grab a bargain. I still buy bags and shoes but less often, at least thats something you can wear a lot and make a lot of outfits with. I still like cartier etc but only what i can wear everyday without changing. I gave up on designer comsetics long time ago as very often they just a name and no great amount of ingredients, there is a lot of brands which focus on beauty which are worth buying rather then brands which are trying to do it all, fashion and beauty.
I also don’t buy trendy pieces. I’m very happy with my jewelry collection as of now. Once I purchase one more ring, I think I’m ready to move on into watches!
You’re right Lou. SLG’s are killer waste of money. Better to save foe a bag than have ten SLG’s. How many wallets / card holders do you own? Is it actually just one?!

SO TRUE
Personal style often changes over the decades, though.

I agree with everything especially the jewelry. HOWEVER, I love a nice car. Just bought my dream sportscar.

Hi Lou, can you make (if you want to
yes please it's such a good idea !!
Great idea!
You're absolutely right. Minimalistic and stay with classic items. That's all you need.
SLGs and costume jewellery are the ones I used to spend the most money on and no longer do! I have the one in one out rule with shoes!
SLGs have always been my weak spot too 😩

We have our Hermes Blankets for over 20 years - and now everyone has them….😢 but now they are toooo expensive…
Hello Lou, there’s a brand beautiful and not so commercial it’s Dinh Van. 😊
They have beautiful pieces!!

Oh!!! I’m definitely going to check them out thank you!
Love your videos and sense of style. Would love to know your haircare routine!
Thank you!!! I actually have that video on my channel :) it’s called my hair care routine 🤍
Where’s your grey knit from? 😍
Hi.
Where did you buy your sweater? Thanks in advance 😊
I can relate with this video 💯😘😘
Could you please do a video on your skin care you use now. You have beautiful skin.
Would like to know your skincaree.. your skin looks divine 😊😊
Oh thank you! I will take note and add for future videos!
It sounds like you’re preparing for the next stage of your life. Responsibility and authenticity.
I’m the same way I need to get rid of a lot of stuff too I need to downside my bags too I have over 300.
Now, what about make up? What kind of makeup do you buy because your make up always looks good.
You’re right Lou. SLG’s are killer waste of money. Better to save foe a bag than have ten SLG’s. How many wallets / card holders do you own? Is it actually just one?!
