Hi
Just found a good use for the upper part of the “shower tower” a long range shooting tower.
Hahahaha Nice....made me laugh!!!
He can always tell Mere he's ensuring the defensive positions on the house. LOL
@@Keeper0fmyHEART
Haha 😂
Imagine taking a shower and listening to a mag dump above you
Why doesn’t he build a treehouse/ tower for shooting and build some elevations for targets 500 yards out? Seems like a simple solution
Its not a simple as it seems
Idk maybe the trees are in the way, I don’t know tho.
Can't have elevated targets. You need a backstop thats as big as possible so you can't shoot over it
@KRAVEN208 true
He can use his drone to check out sites
demo ranch video:
what is the smallest cal that u can hit a target at 1k from?
start at smth like the 50bmg, then work ur way down to like .308, 5.56, and then end at the .22lr
This needs more likes
@@chazraylitt7815 Agreed.
I like how matt is worried about shooting off of his porch but he made a range inside his house multiple times XD
I mean his wife and CHILDREN weren't home when he did that so...
The house was also the abandoned mansion before demo started. No humans or animals were there but him and one other.
@@jencoleman6674 He actually did one in his house also and still has shrapnel in his arm from it. Shot a 300 win mag in the house.
The last spot “near” the house would be great. You could clean off the multiple hill tops for multiple target spot distances.
He could also put some “Caution shooting range” signs around the valleys if he’s scared of that
🌷😂🅱️
You were defending your property from trespassers
The fact he mentioned the cold tundra of Minnesota warms my heart enough to keep me warm through another year
i have never seen a more balanced channel. tour, guns, construction, merch company. Love you, man.
🆘🆘
For the range, go Mythbusters style. 20' Shipping sea crate with a BR window and reinforce the range facing wall. And have a roller door on the back side to let lots of air in.
I appreciate your attention to safety. Honestly, my kid loves watching your stuff and it makes it easy for me to teach him gun safety when his favorite guntuber is so concerted with it. You aren't just an "Influencer", you are a "Positive Influencer".
Over their heads-lots of public ranges in Europe like that
If somebody is out there and things start going zing over their heads they will be getting out of there anyway.
Us military does it all the time
Send it...
There's a range in Canada that shoots over someones house with line of sight. ;\
Plus its private property and their probably not supposed to be there
Matt, invest in a midsize wood chipper that will chip branches and trees between 5”-6” round and clear what you need to and use the wood chips to cover the areas that you have problems with mud when it rains. On my property around the shop and other spots we use as walkways that have that same problem, it works great. And you obviously are wanting to clear some area for the range and instead of cutting things down and hauling off or burning, chip away and cover up the spots that are a problem. And cosmetically, the wood chips look good wet or dry.
Second this. I just picked up a used one for about $3000 that will do up to 8" diameter branches. You've got a ton of scrap wood that would make good mulch, like the cedars.
This man shot a 300 Win Mag inside his living room, and now he says he won't shoot off his porch 🤣
Underrated comment on the year
I don't think that's accurate. He said no way on the Barrett if you watch the video again because of the spalling from the other rifle calibers.
Also happy wife happy life which I think is the why the porch is a no go.
Raised shooter and target platforms on separate hills would solve the weeds problem and keep them nice and dry.
Find someone with a skid steer with forestry mulcher attachment, they can make a long range in a couple days.
I was just thinking the same thing cause itsjustasix did that with his property to get trails and stuff put in it.
I give this a third...
Or a D9
GOONZQUAD
The mulcher would eliminate “little trees” in almost no time. Nothing quite like mowing 3” diameter “tooth pick”. As Dr. Lee says “there is this guy with an abandoned mansion”.
Could just get Rob's or Nick's opinoins. I'm sure that they would have some great ideas.
That’s what I was thinking
Your precious children deserve a really solid "treehouse". Make it look like a wood forest service tower. "Mere, the children need it to be "really safe" (like really nice).
Yes! ESPECIALLY after the sad turn of events of the playhouse!!!
Yep☝
get the guys form Treehouse Masters to build it! that would be fire af!!! 🔥
Looks like you're gonna have to tell mere that you need a sniper perch, I mean "lookout" tower on top of the mansion...
The shower tower....... all it needs is a few renovation episodes
@@joshuahenry1639 you read my mind
20mm canon deck.
Hey Matt, That hill to hill area is actually perfect for your long range area because it makes for a perfect backstop for those rounds. Remember even a 22lr can go over a mile and be lethal when it gets there. and the 50 BMG can easily go 6 miles and be lethal when it gets there. No you probably can't aim it that far but that's not the point ,you're not aiming at anything past your target anyway but the round is still going till it hits something. Your range backstop should be as high as possible above your targets to catch those rounds since aiming too high is normal when trying to find your range ( point of impact) you can easily shoot over a low back stop at range Also be sure of whats down range of your backstop. Are you shooting a town 2miles away beyond the back stop? Don't Even the best shooters will have an off day you'll be shooting there for years to come. Remember comfort isn't more important than safety. With a good builder/ landscaper you can build in the comfort and ease of maintenance. You don't have to do it all yourself. Good luck with ti.

Build the wall like you said with cinderblock and concrete. Make sure you put a window in like at the blast range with some of your bullet proof glass. One blast proof wall and frame in the rest with wood.
MATT...... READ THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking from past experience, the best time to build your long distance range is NOW!! While your property is already a bit chaotic and there will be machines available, etc.. Even if you have to clear a bunch of trees, now is the time to do it. Build the long distance range now and have it on your property, you never know how things can go with other peoples' property in the future. Use the harvested wood for a good cause or donate it or store it for future wood to burn, etc.. If you donate it to a good cause it could help offset your cost and make everyone feel better about themselves, you know what I mean. Once the property is "done" it is more expensive to bring machinery back out and once you and your family are living comfortably and quietly you may not want to start new, expensive, loud projects. Make it as long as you can (up to 1,000yds) and get rid of every tree and anything else in your way. Donate it, run a contest to offset the cost, save it to burn in the fire, whatever it takes BUT do it now and you will be so much happier later on. Don't have regrets later on !!!!!!!!! I know what I'm talking about. Go for it and good luck. God bless.
Yeah he shouldn't worry about going the trees, by the looks of it he's got plenty. I typically always have a good use for wood and it's not hard to get creative with it. I totally agree with you that he should clear out a nice place for ranges. People shouldn't be scared of clearing some trees.
@@markstafki9597
Spot on brother. 👍🏼
💯
He can plant new trees somewhere else on the ranch even
Use the wood for his next Christmas tree burning so he can beat the last one.
Matt, single handedly keeps Apache Rifleworks in business.
Pew Pew Wall, make it mobile on wheels and with a glass window. You'll want to move it around at various distances.
I'd go with the "over someones head option" If you ran some sort of wire fencing and signed it well especially in the blind spots then I think you'd have provided ample warning and safety.
Yeah, i second that. You could also use the red flag system, so if you are firing the flag is raised. Not only will this warn off others it should also cover the legal side of things. I knkw its an additional expense but for the amount of fun to be had it is totally worth it!!
Should look up some Swiss ranges, that option isn't as crazy as it sounds if you plan it out properly.
🛑🟥
Porch? Treager, cooler of cold snacks and comfy chairs. Looks like a winner.
Recteq > traeger better product, better customer service, better warranties. #recteqlifestyle
Shoot over the 550 yard spot, you could clear some of the rises in between for additional ranges and elevation changes
I think Mythbusters (don't remember anymore) tested walls for explosives and found bedliner makes block walls hold together even after severe damage. Maybe do like the military does and fill some big pallet sized cubes with large gravel (or better yet river stones) then encase in bedliner so it will hold together for the long term
Hey Matt, I was recently in a serious car accident, I wasn't at fault but the other 3 occupants in the car all died within 30 minutes of the accident, I just wanted to say that your videos bring me a lot of peace and I really appreciate how uplifting you are, Thanks for being something to look forward to.

Depends on humidity... if its high humid, it is that hot, you feel gross, dry heat isn't too bad

Michigan it’s colder than 100 but some rare times it gets 100 or 90... not fun but it’s pretty rare in Michigan
@@Valixeus7 yep. We have the biggest temp spectrum in the us. And we have constant high winds here. But that’s why I love it here.
@The Weapon Collection i know how that goes. A week ago we were -8 and got 6 inches of snow. Yesterday was 74.

It's very nice !
Love your stuff.
So while you were talking about the garage, I noticed a burm behind you. You could use something like that as a buffer between your firing spot and the mansion. On the side facing the mansion, you could landscape it with mulch or brick chip and have a logo or monogram. and the other could be just grass or something, and the firing bench or window or whatever could be a little structure right there. It would not only provide a break in line-of-sight between the mansion and firing range, but would also somewhat deaden the noise and be close enough to quickly go inside in case a fast moving storms rolls over. Don't want to get caught out in the middle of the woods while a microburst pops up!

Matt look into getting a bull hog to attach to the front of a skid steer. It will mow down trees and brush up to 6 inches thick and turn into mulch as you go. You can easily clear a shooting path with it in that one thick brushy area you showed. Bonus point, it’s a lot of fun to operate.

Build your own shelter for the pew pew arena. Make it a 10’ deep by 20’ wide by 8’ tall peaked roof. Peak it from center to end so the rain runs off the ends instead of the sides. Place your range side wall 3’ in so the pew pew can still stay dry. Making the wall say 4’ high will give you plenty of room to squat down and hide.

On the hill you were standing on the side by side, build a shooting tower. Something high enough but also open on the side you be shooting out of so you can stand, sit, and go prone. Or make it look like a guard tower with the ability to shoot 360° onto different length targets on different hills.

Hesco Barriers. You should make a wall with those. We used them in Afghanistan and they are cost effective, easy to set up and will stop anything you shoot at it.
Just have a loud speaker say "Is there anyone down range? Is there anyone down range? The range is no longer clear. Firers watch your lane!" Plus if some idiot is walking through that bush all they'll hear is the round breaking the sound barrier over their heads. That'll definitely make them scoot out of the AO.
