The Skyline is my favorite "real-world" car for competitive play. I originally got it because I love the car in real life (and I wanted the wheels), but I was surprised when it actually felt good! I still mostly use the Octane but the Skyline is a lot of fun. The Civic also feels nice to use, that's my close second pick.

Skyline is “Hybrid” hit box. Best turning radius and solid length, width and height
I love my Delorean.
Yes, the customisation is VERY limited - but it flips the wheels like in the movie when flying and boosting, and has the time travel effect on demos. That's some nice attention to detail.
it also helped me with precision on side shots since I can clearly know where the corners are since the thing is a BRICK. and the license plate sniping on the floor when you get demoed is pretty hilarious

Same. The delorean is really easy to use if you like the dominus. The civic feel great as well.
@@digitalcamaro9708 I can't get to hit the corners with the CIvic, I paid the pass just for it. Keep in mind I was playing with the Esper for like year and a half before attempting to use the Civic

As one of the very unlucky few that actually bought this game, I think I remember those early cars being just three dollars. $20 for each black market that you can legit buy on trade for just sometimes as low as three hundred credits.
at least we got every piece of base game customization :|

I own the game since 2017 and I literally bought most of the cars for like 1.29 Euros or 3 Euros I think
Last time I bought a vechicle in RL was when they were sold for $2. Not going to spend from $20 and up for a car model, that's just plain ridiculous...
There are still packs for 2 bucks. Plus now it's compatible with fortnite so you can buy something in fortnite item shop if you play both games it makes it good deal
I use many of the Licensed cars, the Lamborghinis, the Ferrari, McLarens, Delorean, Fast and Furious, and Aston Martins. And I will Definitely be using the Bugatti Centodieci that premieres today. I also use them because almost all of the licensed cars have the Dominus Hitbox, which is my main favorite hitbox
I used to be dominos hit box main but changed to octane in diamond. I don’t think the centodieci will work for me since it uses plank but I still use the Lamborghinis, the Ferrari and mclaren but mostly civic

I love using the hyper cars, I dont mind the limited customization as I don't have very many cool decals on my account to begin with. I also enjoy any decal that remains the same regardless of team color, so I really like the true to life decals that come with the liscensed cars
Not being able to customize those cars and the fact that they usually cost more than the third-party trader just means it’s a terrible idea. But for real I buy stuff way cheaper from other players than what they sell at the store
I use the Skyline at the moment and fortunately there's a fair bit of customisation you can do to it. Before that I used the Jurassic Park Jeep but that was very limited in terms of customisation.
I used to use the skyline a lot but as a got new cool decals and other customisation aspects that couldn’t be used on the licensed cars I started to use it them less.
I think people forgot that before epic bought rocket league, cars were about $3-$5 dollars each, and now are almost $20. They even took out all the original cars in the store.
Skyline and Delorean are always my go to outside of the homebrews. Funny that the Skyline is probably the most customizable and the DeLorean is the least.
The inclusion of the Honda Civic Type-R as a Rocket Pass inclusion AND it being customization-friendly is an interesting/good step... I am looking forward to see how this works out in future seasons for them.

i’ve always gone against the grain (aka Stocktane) and am probably in the top 0.1% of batmobile, Huracan, and 570s mains. i think i have almost 3k wins in each car. it’s super refreshing playing in GC in my own unique feeling rides
Insidio main here, I must be part of the 10 players using this car ^^ The reactions or comments about it are always funny. Things like "Go play with a real car" or "You suck because you don't play a meta car". I'm just super comfortable playing a car actually fitting the hitbox perfectly (especially at the front). High GC1 btw.
@@bstnlcge2662 I love how comments like that don't even make any sense. Wouldn't using a non meta car successfully make you better than someone who is using the meta. Like are these people stupid or something
Guardian GXT main here, I NEVER saw anyone using that car in many years so really understand that feeling, it's really good knowing that in many metas in game, you choose a specific one for a personal reason
The nice thing about the Honda Civic is that it has much more customization than most other licensed cars. Same for the NASCAR pack.
In general all cars are overshadowed by octane. Meta aside, octane receives way more attention than other cars, like getting dozens of decals every update and event while other cars only have the global option or 5 other common decals to choose from at most
One of the biggest issues I see with the customization is the fact that there’s certain aspects of the vehicle that it would interfere with for example imagine putting a crazy animated decal onto the delorian or the jeep wrangler that would ruin the whole theme because they were designed to mimic their real world counterparts as best as possible epic games would have huge issues implementing certain customization features for those vehicles because in reality it’s really to say HEY I like the jeep wrangler from Jurassic Park so I’m gonna play as it and it’s not gonna be anything else because I like it

I'd agree with licensed movie cars and such, but they just released the Bugatti and it doesnt allow any customization at all honestly. No toppers, wheels, decals, or antenna. Like, why even have the damn car then if I am locked out of 60% of the ways to customize it besides painting it a solid color or having it grey?

Surprisingly i actually almost always play with the 765LT, Skyline, the new Bug, Batmobile, Charger, and my favourite, the BMW M240i. Probably because i'm a carguy and i just like the look of them but honestly they are kinda cracked cars especially the M240i.

I use the 2022 Batmobile on a daily basis as my main because I really love the look and sound of it. But sometimes I switch back to my Skyline just because it’s my dream car. Back when I didn’t have those cars I believe Dominus was my main
I'll be rocking the Civic for the foreseeable future lol. I was so stoked when they dropped that
I think the main reason why I like the Skyline and the Fords, is the customization options. While you can't use other licensed cosmetics, not having any options except for color (if even that) makes the car quite boring after a few days.
Don’t forget about the mario, Luigi, and Samus cars on switch!
I really like the Mach-E, always find myself rotating back to it every now and again.
You missed THE biggest issue that prevents people from getting these cars and then them subsequently becoming meta. YOU CANNOT TRY THE CAR BEFORE YOU BUY IT! Idk why Psyonix does this but it prevents me from buying one every single time. If I can't try it out to see how it feels then I'm definitely not paying 1000+ credits for it.
I bought the 2f2f Skyline and used that exclusively while waiting for the Ecto-1 to come back in store. When the Ecto-1 came back in 80/20 split between the two. I grabbed the older batmobile and used that in the rotation. Than when the new Nissan Z came out I have been using that almost exclusively. I'd say 95% of the time is the Z.
I've been playing this game since its original release, so I've seen all of the cars you've talked about here. I'm a car guy so I do buy them and use them for a bit but at some point I'm always going back to one of my countless Octane designs.
what happened to the Dingo? That was like the hot new car for a bit. all the pros wanted it. it had a huge price on just the blueprints!
When I played with the Lamborghini and McLaren the one thing I felt was that the cars always feel so “small” compared to the game-made cars. Technically the hit boxes shouldn’t be any different but visually they feel thinner and shorter than even other flat RL cars and that makes them feel less intuitive. I wonder if this could be fixed as simply as just making them a little larger, and it would be good to see these cars used more frequently in RL.
heres my thought on how they should run there dlc cars:
keep them in shop all the time (separate menu)since its a free to play game now, why not make more money

Many of the licensed cars don't fit the octane or dominus hitbox. They do it to sell more of the licensed cars since octane and dominus are the most popular hitboxes. When car doesn't fit hitbox the nose, tail (other sides of the car) usually hit the ball early or late.

License cars that don’t allow you to customize it are trash. Skyline is probably the best.
You forgot to mention in 2015 they had a partnership with Back To The Future, adding the DMC 12 from the movie as a playable car. I still have my Steam copy of RL with that car from the DLCs.
I’ve run the GTR ever since it came out. You can edit the wheels, add a topper, any paint jobs or moving animations. You can completely customize it which I love.

Yeah it’s boring. I root so hard for anybody pro when they do, like when Arsenal uses the Mustang. It’s lame that everyone is a sheep & uses the Octane, there’s no objective reason it’s the best. Other cars have better matching hit boxes.
My main car actually is the octane, but when i get bored of it i choose the Mach-E. It Just feels better than any other car (except the octane). I think its the best dlc car in the game.
Forget the video with this editing and commentating this guy has potential to be one of the rocket league bigs (as long as he consistently posts quality content like this)
Sometimes the hitbox is just forced upon the cars, like the dominus hitbox on the F1. The whole front wing of the F1 car serves no purpose since the hitbox only starts behind the wing. So sometimes it looks like you hit the ball but the ball just flies through the car
I think that's why the skyline has really been one of the only real world cars with staying power because it is customizable and it plays pretty well. Other ones simply feel clunky and don't even make up for it in any other way
Good video! I don't think expense is a reason for these cars not to be played in professional contexts though, nearly every pro has the same $10,000 boost

I'm in diamond 2 and just figured out how to control my car in the air while using air roll constantly to improve my car control and that shot made at the beginning feels more like rocket science to me than it did before learning this

I usually play with Dominus or Octane, but playing with the Bronco or Skyline it's quite fun tbh, mainly the bronco, feels like you are unstoppable.
i bought every licensed car (except ecto-1), I *exclusively* use them but mostly ones that are free to customize and have a hitbox of a classic rocket league body
I have rocket league since 2016 , but i only ever bought one car, the batmobile and used it for a long time but eventually got bored from the poor customization and now i use the fennec and the dominous
I’ve played rocket league with mate a little bit an I’ve never seen any of these paid cars. I’m impressed how I didn’t know this existed, wow!
Also a major issue with licensed cars, is that even if they can be customised, it's only the animated decals that you need to collect from rocket passes or events, and they add noise to the car. You either have them clean and boring or noisy and flashy... They need normal decals. Take a Fast and Furious cars compared to Fords for example.
One thing that also discouraged new players is also due to the short purchase window of the licensed cars, a regular like me also miss their announcements sometime let alone others. A random BMW fan which might find out their favorite brand is in Rocket League, just to be told its no longer for sale when they just got wind of it months later. Thus not even going to try to download the game at all. Truly wasted opportunities.

That Nissan at 2:52 is the smoothest car in the game imo. The octane is a close second but idk. That Nissan just feels right to me. It's been my car since I was a gold. Just made it into diamond and I don't see me ever changing it.

I bough the Nissan Z and the Ferrari 296GTB. I don’t use them very often, but when I need a change from Octane/Fennec they are very nice. I doubt I’d buy any more though

Price is a minor issue, as I have bought a few cool licensed cars. YES, I hate that a few of them do NOT allow customization like the 007 Aston Martin! All you can do is color tint the silver finish… the car is fun to play otherwise. The current Nissan 240Z event is SWEET!! A great retro car with full customization options ❤

The skyline and honda are the only ones i use. The skyline feels good in competitive and the honda is nice for just messing around freestyling and sometimes tournaments.

tbh the only reason i ever use licensed cars when octane doesn’t feel good. plank cars like centio and bugatti are the most fun to play. i also like to use the bronco and the mach-e on occasions. i think people are just too stuck on playing the same hitbox over and over
personally as a gold/plat player i do use the lisence cars, specificlly the lambourghini countach and delorean. I really like these cars and dont mind the lack of costumizability as it just ruins the car
i always use licensed cars, like the old mustang, nissan z, and honda civic. i only really buy and use them cus i love the real cars, and being able to drive them in a game i love is just super cool to me. also, all of the previously mentioned cars are fully customizable, which is one reason those are my main cars, i wish they were all like that :D

I never played rocket league so I had no idea it had metas. I've always thought they're like NASCAR kit cars which only slightly differ internally and more of like for the aesthetic

The biggest thing that keeps me away from the licensed vehicles is how oddly sized some of the models are.
I don't play rocket league, but I do remember playing it like 4 years ago, and I bought a Mclaren that was avalible back then, because I'm a gearhead.
literally only the skyline and recently the civic can get some action in my sessions imo

The Skyline, F-150, Civic, and DeLorean are the ones I use. And the F1s when it’s race day. Skyline is my go-to, F-150 if im running def/goalie.
I don't use the licensed cars because I can't customize them.
Can't use different decals.
Can't use different wheels.
So all the stuff I have to make a fun RL car doesn't apply, and the car just ends up looking boring.

imo main issue is we are used to the octane or dominus and will have used it for maybe over 2 years, randomly switching to the battle bus aint gonna ever help you in that case... mer personally ive been using batman vs superman batmobile since 2017
