I would encourage everyone to listen to M. Russell Ballard's November 1994 BYU talk, "What Came From Kirtland." He says, "It has been said that we may yet discover that Kirtland is our most significant Church history site. Let me describe to you how important Kirtland is to the Church," and then describes in detail what significant events occurred there in the early church, not only with the prophet Joseph but also the visions and heavenly visitations witnessed by many saints. I wonder if powerful spiritual events may occur there again in our time. President Ballard (Elder Ballard at the time) spoke about the unique privilege he and other members of our church had in holding a Sacrament meeting in the Kirtland Temple (he presided), after obtaining permission from a man who was part of the Community of Christ. This talk is so amazing that you really have to listen to it or read it to appreciate what President Ballard was saying.
I'm... my feelings are opposite, I guess. I always waited for this day and I have always believed I would see this... I didn't know how or when, I just knew this beautiful gospel was being directed by someone higher than us. 😇 I'm excited and so over the moon about this. I remember saying in your comments a few years ago that everything would be a domino effect, happening one right on top of the other. I'm so happy and so grateful the Lord provides these beautiful miracles for ALL to see. This is just great. It solidifies my gut feeling of when the Savior will show himself... I'm not looking at 2030, much sooner for the faithful covenant keepers has been my feeling since I was 12 and I've dreamed of the Savior returning... my kids have dreamed the same dream. It's so close.
This is so exciting! I can’t wait to see the artifacts. I’m very grateful for The Community of Christ church for taking such good care of all of these scared items and buildings.
When I heard this news I actually was over come with emotion. I grew up in the mid-west. I have been to this historic site and have always been saddened that this temple of the Lord was not attended by our missionaries who could teach and inspire through the power of the Holy Spirit. There is a wonderful book, "The Savior in Kirtland", by Karl Ricks Anderson. If you take the time to read with the spirit this publication your testimony of and faith in the Savior Jesus Christ will increase and you will grow to love and reverence the Prophet Joseph Smith. Thank you Jared for all you do.
Another SEVEN! Inspired by your recent video, i studied Peacemakers Needed (Apr. 2023, GC). Sure enough, he uses that imperative NOW seven times! I think he IS trying to make a point.
I am reeling as well, Jared.... In a very good way. I am so grateful for your friendship talk on the Kirtland temple. It prepared me for this!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤Brother Powers
This is so wonderful. Not only are we seeing a continuing of the restoration of the gospel, we are also seeing a restoration of those sacred church history sites being restored to us. Thank you so much Commuity of Christ for selling them to us. ❤
Have you had a chance to look at the detailed list of items we purchased? It’s in the appendix of the Q&A. There’s some incredible stuff there… Not just the Kirtland Temple, but a lot of property in Nauvoo, and many artifacts that are detailed out in the bottom of the Q&A in the appendix area, check it out. It’s crazy! I’d love to see you do a video on it. This is much more than I thought it was!
I've been there twice. Once when I was little and two years ago. I live in western Pennsylvania so I'm close. We are going to try to be there during the eclipse.
Curious if any special recordings on those properties will be part of conference like Pres Nelson did in the sacred grove while reading the restoration declaration.
I suspect that they had planned on announcing this over the pulpit at Conference, but the story leaked. Someone saw the transaction in the county records.
John Hijecek actually claimed he put in an offer of $100 mil that was turned down and he leaked it to another RUclips account who posted about an hour or so before the church! Several videos on here with him sharing his story. @@nathangreer8219
'Suggested corrections"😂😂 Ya know, this is a front seat example to all of us, that the Lord has His own timetable, and His work goes forward in His time and it really doesn't matter if our opinion is that "it ain't happening, never will happen" or not! ❤
This video, talk may have been a in the distant past however I just watched it yet for the first time recently..... And it prepared me for for what has now taken pkace❤.
Perhaps the next significant thing that is coming is the General Relief Society Broadcast commemorating the organization of the Relief Society. It is on Sunday, March 17th, which is the actual day it was organized. Pres. Nelson will be addressing all the women of the church as well as the General presidency. Afterwards each ward/stake will hold a testimony meeting. It has been referred to as "unprecedented" and that this has "never happened before."
It was interesting, but a little dry. I was hoping for for shots walking through the rooms, but they had the camera on a tripod the whole time. However, the guy didn’t talk with that sister missionary intonations.
The information is quite interesting, and Lachlan Mackay is engaging (at least to me). He really seems to care a lot about the building, which is great. But unfortunately he is devoid of any kind of spirit. I would never suspect that he's an important leader of the Community of Christ.
I saw that it was up, but haven't watched it. I've been on the tour there a few times and maybe it was just those tour guides, but they were very dismissive and borderline mocking of the events that happened there and peoples' widely documented experiences. It was disheartening. *But*. The Holy Ghost can overcome all of that and you can feel it strongly despite detractors.
Verily, I have gazed upon an interview featuring a contender for the Kirtland Temple from a sect differing from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This individual expressed concerns over potential renovations akin to those undertaken on the Provo City Center Temple. Yet, consider the necessity of such actions, for the Provo edifice once was consumed by flame. Furthermore, he voiced grievances regarding the Salt Lake Temple, a sanctuary he hath never entered nor partaken in its holy ordinances. 'Tis a peculiar stance indeed. As we reflect upon these matters, let us remember the words of the Apostle Paul in the Holy Bible, who advised, "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good" (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Likewise, in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, we find counsel to "stand fast in that liberty wherewith God hath made them free" (Alma 58:40). These scriptures remind us of the importance of understanding and respect for the sacred processes by which the Lord guides His Church, even in matters of temple restoration and maintenance. Let us also recall that the temples are houses of the Lord, places of holiness and peace, sanctified for sacred ordinances and covenants. The renovation of these sacred edifices, as guided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is done with the utmost reverence and divine inspiration, ensuring that they serve as befitting abodes for the presence of the Lord. In these efforts, we see the hand of the Lord guiding His Church, reaffirming that within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints lies the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jared, can you even wait to know what’s on the JST Bible transcripts? Could it be more or new scripture? Or at least, could it be more clarification of the Bible? What might be in the letters from Joseph to Emma? That seems kind of a personal thing though. And what about the possibility of what the writing or characters of the Gold Plates mights look like? Will they prove anything? I don’t know. It’s just all so exciting to wonder about.
The CoC has been selling the Inspired Version for a very long time. I have a copy myself. it has the full text of the JST. Keep in mind that the Utah Church got permission to publish excerpts In the 1980 edition of the scriptures. These are all the significant changes and longer passages. What's left is mostly very minor edits.
my understanding is that when the RLDS church joined the World Council of Churches and changed to the Community of Christ, they began to get pressure to distance themselves from their Mormon roots, hence the "watering down"
Jared, when you were going over Pres. Nelson's Sevens and read #5 Jan 1, 2024 "Marvel", I was curious how this word was used in the scriptures and it's meaning in Hebrew. I googled this question and I found the answer very interesting and thought provoking: "Usually, when the word “marvel” is used in the New Testament, it describes a person's reaction to seeing God's supernatural activity. For example, in Luke 24, Peter marveled at the empty tomb. The word means to be astonished or amazed, to have a sense of wonder." The Hebrew word, tamah, means to marvel, to wonder, to admire.
For I have consecrated the land of Kirtland in mine own due time for the benefit of the saints of the Most High, and for a stake to Zion. (D&C 82:13) "...in my own due time..." is key. It implies something future. It seems that time is arriving. I can't wait to see where this leads.
Thanks Jared, a good topic might be a research of that word” privileges “ as in the Lord is going to bestow countless privileges and blessings. I ask what privileges are we going to receive before the savior comes? It made me think of that quote by Brigham Young where he says that the members of the church live far being Neath their privileges spiritually. So the word privileges could be talking about people receiving revelation in various forms?
Verily, for months have I been in fervent supplication unto the Lord, beseeching that the Kirtland Temple might be returned to the embrace of the Almighty. Great is my reverence for my 5th great forefather, who bestowed much of his craftsmanship upon that sacred edifice. Unto God be the glory for quickening His divine purposes, manifest in the anticipated return of the Kirtland Temple unto His fold. Now do we lift our voices in earnest prayer, that in His appointed season, the Lord might reconsecrate it as a beacon of His holy work. Furthermore, we implore with fervent hearts for the restoration of the Lord's temple lands, that the foundation for the 24 temple lot may be laid, signifying the progression of His celestial plan. In the words of the Bible, we are reminded that "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it" (Psalms 127:1). Similarly, The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ teaches us of the importance of edifices dedicated unto the Lord, as when the Nephites constructed a temple, it was considered exceedingly fine, where they might worship God (2 Nephi 5:16). As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we hold dear the principle of temple work, integral to the restoration of the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let us, therefore, remain steadfast in our supplications, trusting in the Lord's timing and will, as underscored in Doctrine and Covenants, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord" (Isaiah 55:8-9). May we continue to seek His guidance and cherish the promise of His holy temples.
As someone else posted yesterday, I am very curious to see if the Church completes the Nauvoo House as commanded in the D&C, or if they keep it as the historical site it is: partially complete as the home of the Bidemon's (Emma and new husband) after the Saints left Nauvoo.
Are you referring to this scripture D&C 124:60 And let the name be called Nauvoo House; and let it be a delightful habitation for man, and a resting place for the weary traveler that he may contemplate the glory of zion, and the cornerstone there of; I feel there will be a bishop storehouse built concerning this scripture.

The good works of the Community of Christ church will help point people all over the world to Christ. However, their building of their organization will be temporary. The congregation will come to a stark realization that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Saviour's church. All the people of the earth will see the Saviour leading His church. And His coming is "Very Close", said President Russell M. Nelson. If you are regarding the Kirtland Temple as just a building or a sentimental object, you need to read Doctrine and Covenants 109 and 110 again. The Kirtland Temple is one of the most sacred Temples on earth today by all that transpired on the Easter Sunday that the Temple was dedicated. Also the sacred and spiritual meetings that were held in the Red Brick Store in Nauvoo. Read Doctrine and Covenants 117:16. That scripture/verse has just been fulfilled!
