At the scale haloclasty is taking place, the tiny salt crystals are building up in fissures on the rock which offers some protection from weathering initially. As the salt crystals break off parts of the rock, they open up more access for weathering by wind/rain.

Where is the salt? What happens with the salt?
By the same processes of weathering acting on the rock, salt is also removed as it accumulates. Rain, wind etc.
