      I've seen it happen here in Norway, but given most people DO pick up others trash when far from a can, like on a hike, in addition to men, women and kids being safer here at all times, given Norway is inhabited by Norwegians, and not freedom loving Americans, I hadn't really even thought this could be an issue or a debate!

    • @viktorbirkeland6520
      @viktorbirkeland6520 3 месяца назад

      But we DO have that "collective" system, that safety net and network that actually works most times to get people to think, reconsider, and in the end choose to be a better person and NOT unnecessarily weigh down the system because someone insignificant "feels their unnoticeable yet negative life shouldn't have to be affected by their actions and responsibilities".
      Our system should only work in a way so that the less you struggle / need it / rely on society, the less society owes you! Some people have massive accidents where you go from 100% at 16 years old, to 50% maybe, still at 16 years old.
      Our society is built in a way so that my life is saved because great men before me decided to build a society where the strong help the weak, no matter what. Even chose away "short term" (relatively) unlimited money from our black gold, meaning fossil fuels, because they wanted a stable country, people and future more than they wanted immense wealth.
      Norway is one of few countries who managed to dodge the Dutch oil disease or whatever it's called, which often ruins countries from their immense oil wealth, just like how lottery winners or other big winners OFTEN, not always, just quite a lot of the time end up either broke, or somehow in a *_WORSE_* position than when you first won the lottery / money!
      I find this stuff very interesting, and im sure I said some things that were not 100% correct as things change over time and it's a mix of English and Norwegian sources!

    i used to work at a grocery store and i wasnt allowed home until EVERY SINGLE CART was returned. i started watching and resenting every single person that didnt put their cart back. because even in the freezing cold with snow i had to bring that cart back inside. after my 14HR shifts!!!! (i worked ab 2-3 14 hr days a week) the carts dont teleport unfortunately someone at the end of the day has to find all the carts scattered and hid all around the parking lot at closing. grocery stores close late asf too. you have families? so do we and rounding up ur carts takes a lot longer
    edit: i used to have days where i was so tired from over working myself i had breakdowns and cried over the amount of scattered carts there were. imagine working 12 hours and then for the next two hours youre wrangling all the carts into the building 7-8 was the most i could push at a time personally, but we didnt have a machine for the carts it was 2 hooks and a rope. it took so much energy at the end of those shifts to keep going. (i had 2 jobs this wasnt my only job i did “harder labor” in the morning before i went to the grocery store.) the lots are huge and have so many places to put ur cart ur never really traveling far to return ur cart.

    As someone who used to collect cards for a living, put your cart back. Not only do the employees get paid shit to collect the carts - but it’s a pain in the ass especially when they begin rolling across a parking lot. I once had to push 100 carts up a hill in 90 degrees and got paid $9/hr to do that. Also, if you leave your cart in a parking spot, you’re taking up not only more parking spots (I know fuck our car centric world), but also if it’s windy, that cart can roll and cause damage to people’s vehicles.

    You don't need to be within a 5 foot radius of your kids at every second of the day. I guarantee your kids wish you'd just leave them in the car for 10 seconds to take the cart back, especially with the helicopter-parenting going on.

      Within my home state, which I do declare to be Michigan, there is a store called Aldie. It is custom to place one quarter into one of the carts to encourage patrons to return carts to the cart station. The prices at Adel are lower for some so it doesn’t seem to bother many. For those outside of Michigan borders do not fret. These store can be found at many locations outside my grand mitten state, you just need one google search to find an algae near you.

    I rarely go to Walmart, but the cart situation their is always absurd. People even leave them in the middle of the lanes. Then inside, people leave groceries everywhere but the place they found it. You'll see a $50 steak left on top of Prego jars, box of ice cream sandwiches melting on the bread isle shelf, or a rotisserie chicken pushed behind the Cheerio boxes (with a leg missing). The poor workers always look like cyborgs on cruise control, stripped of all emotions & humanity. I imagine turning off your brain would be the best defense mechanism to make it through the shift. Anything to avoid "becoming aware." Just think, some trust fund Walton is buying their 7th yacht, 14th mansion, & 3rd Supreme Court justice at the expense of all that suffering. Gross.
