Inauguration of the underpass under the Wenceslas Square (2.12.1968)

Opening of the underpass under the Wenceslas Square intersection with Vodičkova and Jindřišská streets on Monday December 2, 1968 at 10:00 AM. The underpass should have probably been opened already on the 50th anniversary of ČSR foundation but it was delayed due to the Soviet invasion. Ten years later, it was connected to the exit of the newly built Můstek A metro station and since then serves as its vestibule. The report is part of Czechoslovak newsreel nr. 50/1968.

Wow, vypadalo to tam moc hezky, moderně, upraveně. Ty plexisklové "mušle" jako telefonní hovorny si ještě pamatuju. Jinak ty podsvícené reklamní skříně tam jsou dodnes. Určitě by si ten podchod zasloužil opravu a vyčištění, aby vypadal podobně elegantně jako tenkrát.
