As someone who had no fucking clue how to play when I first picked up Y0, I can tell you two VERY helpful habits to both help you actually learn the game and also make progress for those on the checklist: press Square / X / whatever the PC key for those is at the beginning of every turn you take. This is how you call Riichi and set yourself up to win the round. By doing this, you’ll see HOW you can win the round. If you do win, pay attention to the tile that allowed you to win and what combinations those 14 tiles made.
The yakuza series is actually the reason I started playing mahjong on a regular basis and I am now pretty decent at it. Mahjong is quite fun once you learn all the hands and how to play effectively.
I spent 30 minutes watching a RUclips video that taught the basics. Now I will start up a yakuza game just to play for a few hours. Between all of the games, I’ve probably put 50+ hours into just mahjong. I genuinely look forward to completing the missions for mahjong and koi koi because I took the time to learn the game. Shogi though….
Definitely going to keep an eye on your progress. I have dedicated the better part of 3 years of my life to 100%-ing these games, I started with 0 in 2021 and have only Ishin and IW to 100%. To do this in a year is absolutely maniacal, unfathomable, and damn respectable if you manage to pull it off good luck brother. (You will hate 100%-ing Yakuza's 3 and 5 especially) :)
Just be careful with Yakuza 5, there are MISSABLE trophies. I'm telling you now, because seeing as its the biggest yakuza game at the time of writing this, you do NOT want to get to 99.50% and realise you can't 100% it.

Alright so Mahjong I’ll give you guys a very easy tip. Making 3 sequences and 2 pairs is required to win the game, so there you are and have only 1 piece left to win, but riichi doesn’t come up, You know why? SQUARE!!!! YOU NEED TO PRESS SQUARE IF YOU HAVE RIICHI. GAME DOESNT TELL YOU TO DO SO BUT APPARENTLY MY MISTAKE WAS NOT PRESSING SQUARE THE ENTIRE TIME!!! TL;DR. anytime it’s your turn, press square regardless even if an option for pon, kan, chi. Except ron, ron lets you win unless you want riichi then it can work Edit: I know it is said but trust me, just press it any time just in case

I got so frustrated with the BS style switching Majima one that I gave up and went to play the rest of the series before finally coming back a few months later to brute force my way through them. Thank god the Ultimate ones at the end were actually way less difficult than some of the Proving Grounds ones. And JCC..... the less said about that minigame, the better

Interesting fact that this year I started to 100% every Yakuza too because I got tired after 100% whole resident evil series on steam availavle. And as I started I saw on youtube your videos about 100% Yakuza and was like "what a coincidence". I completed Y0 in 160+ hours because of some minigames(mahjong included) and I was just enjoying the game because I never played Yakuza before. I'm gonna watch every your video about 100% Yakuza game after I 100% it because this kind of videos really entertaining for to see people's opinions about 100% the game. i felt that dragon and tiger segment in my soul lmao. i've been marathoning the series and going for 100% in each as well since early december (i have no life atm so i'm done with 0-5 and everything but puyo puyo in 6), and that equipment search in 0 is still one of the absolute worst completion tasks. definitely not the hardest by any means, but by far one of the most mind-numbing and tedious. i actually had the majority of 0 completed several years ago, but the equipment search made me give up on the full 100% until playing the rest of the series motivated me to go back and force my way through it. good luck dude, comparing your experience with mine was pretty interesting so i'll definitely be sticking around for more.
I made it my goal to complete every mainline Yakuza game this year! I’m not going for 100% but I definitely applaud your effort dude! I’ve previously finished Yakuza 0 before I decided on doing this challenge but I finished Kiwami 1 and Kiwami 2 in about a week and I’m just moving on to 3 now. Such incredible games. I did in one year and if you're not careful, you can get burnt out quick. I platinumed Yakuza Kiwami (I played K1 then 0) on November 12, 2021 and finished Lost Judgment on July 21, 2022. It's definitely doable but play other games in between and give yourself breaks often so you don't get burned out. Yakuza 5 is my favorite but it's a nightmare lol. After finishing Lost Judgment I took a long break and I haven't touched a Yakuza game till Ishin and just got platinum on it a few weeks ago. Good luck kyodai. I salute you in your journey.
I 100% all the yakuza games (including judgement and lost) all in around 6 months, but that was only because it was quarantine. I couldn’t possibly do that now.

Yeah, I did it in about one and a half year without much effort to do it really fast. I've been playing Yakuza since 2020 and in 2023 I tried re-doing all of them in order. Honestly pretty much every Yakuza game can be completed in about 2-3 weeks if you skip cutscenes, and know what you're doing. It's fun, happy trophy-hunting man!

Mahjong is actually quite simple and easy, it's just that the game doesn't tell you that you have to press a button in order to win the hand (calling riichi). Shogi, koi koi, and oichi kabu tho...

Recently got into the Yakuza series (starting with 0) and I have a horrid tendency to try for 100% completion (or something resembling it) in basically everything I play, so I was glad to see that someone else properly covered what all of that entailed and discouraged me from doing it myself lol. At the very least I won't go for it on my first playthrough of the game. Looking forward to coming back to your other videos as I play the other games in the series myself!
Yeah… All the mini games (Except Darts) are the main reason why I only stick to the Sub-Stories of the Yakuza games. It takes some serious Effort, time, and patience to officially 100% the games… which I do not have the time for. I give you 100% respect for your dedication. OK so. I hate you for putting this idea in my head because I immediately set out to do it myself. I've only played through (and 100%ed) 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2, so redoing those won't be tooooo hard. currently on 3 though and man I wanna die trying to 100% this. 90 hours in and still got wayy more to go ._. so uhhh. when you get to it I recommend doing most of the extra completion stuff in Platinum Adventure. I'm just too stubborn to.

Major props, sir! It's insane to me that you got through the game so quickly. I just got the platinum yesterday and it took me around 175 hrs. The mini games and climax battles took the longest to finish. Lots of repetition and trail/error for some things. But I'm still excited to start Kiwami in the next month or so after P3 Reload and FF7 Rebirth.
I realized my interest in the series would be severly lowered attempting to 100% them. Props and good luck to you if you're really in it for the long haul.
After seeing your first video I decided to attempt this with you. Zero done. Working on 1 now. All I have left to do is the last few bits of equipment/1 weapon and a Legend playthrough. I'm brand new to the Yakuza games and loving them so far.

I'm playaing through the Yakuza games for the first time, currently somewhere in chapter 8 of Yakuza 0 (there's way too much ahead of me), so I'll need to put watching these on a hold before I finish the games themselves. I will be going through part of this journey with you, but I'll probably be slower even when I won't be doing the 100%. I just take my time and play different games on top of Yakuza but I will be commenting my thoughts after every game I finish under the respective video (if anyone cares that is).

As someone who 100% yakuza 0, i came here looking for someone who suffered in mahjong as I did. I worked as an usher at a movie theatre and while cleaning I would put on tutorials to mahjong, still a proud day when it finally clicked. Either way im excited to see the rest of these videos especially for the games ive yet to 100%
Respect to you on actually 100%-ing this game because I think I got about 86% completion and that still felt like too much in retrospect. Like, I don’t think eating every food item was as much an enriching experience as it was a means to an end for upgrades. Great fucking game, though!
Oh my god, the closest I will ever come to 100% in any of these games (for now) is just doing all the substories in 6 (because I've already done like 45 of them anyway). Can't even imagine getting 100% in every single game. Good luck to you!
Yeah I started trying to 100% Yakuza 0 casually a few years ago. Mahjong really had me stuck for a while but I did it but I'm still working on the cat fight club. I can only do that for 30-40 mins before I want to do ANYTHING ELSE. Good luck bro.

Great video and good luck bro, this is a crazy challenge to take on, continuing past the trophies to completely 100% every game sounds painful. I try to repress the memory of getting every trophy for Yakuza 3 but I still remember feeling ill after playing pool, darts, and batting for hours upon hours.💀 As someone who's gotten every achievement for 0-7 within the past 5 months I can say that the most annoying recurring parts were all the needlessly sexual minigames and the fucking hostesses, the hostesses have become the only part of these games I cannot even bring myself to listen to anymore, I've started skipping the dialogue and looking up a guide for the right choices because of how mind-numbingly boring they are. (Shoutouts to Cyricz)
I’m always on the lookout for videos of people suffering through completion so I’m glad this was in my recommendations, this is probably one of the best ones I’ve seen as well. Even crazier that you plan on getting 100% in the ones that don’t require 100% for the achievements, which is usually the videos goal. I’ve platinumed all but Dead Souls and obviously IW so far, and the only ones I didn’t 100% the completion list in are 3, 4, 6, 7, and Gaiden since it’s not required for platinum. I want to maybe do them eventually but there’s no motivation. Seeing your videos on them will be interesting. Unless I missed it I don’t think your list had Ishin, which would’ve been a fun video to watch, but the challenge is already immense. Regardless though this will be a fun year of waiting for your experiences to be uploaded. Hopefully you enjoy the pain
I did a similar challenge 2 years ago and would constantly get stuck on the gambling minigames. All I can say is good luck and I hope the mahjong gods are on your side.
I planned on 100% these games until I spent hours on Mahjong and Shogi with very little progress being made, and I quickly shifted my completion goal to just doing all the side quests.
Funny story: When I was platinuming the game, I heard that there was an achievement tied to legend and how everyone hated doing it because it was lame and got rid off all your hardwork. So to make my second playthrough more fun, I would do the side hustles and substories on legend and not on my first playthrough. I grinded through both side hustles, did almost every substory (Except for Kiryus amon fight.), and completed the game for the second time plus some stuff I knocked out of my completion list in my free time. But before I did Kiryu's last substory, I wanted to level up my Kiryu and Majima and do some Mr. Shakedown farming. To my horror, I realized that I missed the encounter finder, (BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON IT WAS TIED TO A 50/50 CHOICE IN A SUBSTORY), and for some reason I can't just give Majima's encounter finder to Kiryu. (WHICH IS BS BTW. I PLAYED THE REMASTER OF 4. THEY ALLOWED CHARACTERS THERE TO SHARE THEIR ITEMS.) And I needed that money for Dragon and the Tiger and leveling up. So I created a new save and did a new game plus third playthrough. Which made me do all the substories side hustles, and game again. ALL for that damn encounter finder. Needless to say, when I actually did complete the completion list I was more erect than 10 Mr. Libidos.

I have this thing where I’m really good at Yakuza combat and some minigames (batting cage, darts, rhythm games) but I have horrible blind spots (shogi, pool, etc). I heard 3 requires you to play some hard pool matches

During the first lockdown in 2020 I got into yakuza for the first time, while I don’t have the plat for Y0 because of rng on climax battles I did do the completion list and I damn near went insane so good luck
For Batting, I was looking very close on Kiryu's head pretty much it helps. For Space Harrier, and Fantasy Zone I mash my shooting button since I was on PC with KB+M which is not pretty bad providing you had trial and error runs I knew I rage on some parts but with enough practices it's doable without turbo mode. For Legend, I pretty much got the Zap Gun and Beast/Breaker style then breeze through the game with it, as well as stocking up Staminan Royale.

I did in one year and if you're not careful, you can get burnt out quick. I platinumed Yakuza Kiwami (I played K1 then 0) on November 12, 2021 and finished Lost Judgment on July 21, 2022. It's definitely doable but play other games in between and give yourself breaks often so you don't get burned out. Yakuza 5 is my favorite but it's a nightmare lol. After finishing Lost Judgment I took a long break and I haven't touched a Yakuza game till Ishin and just got platinum on it a few weeks ago. Good luck kyodai. I salute you in your journey.
I 100% all the yakuza games (including judgement and lost) all in around 6 months, but that was only because it was quarantine. I couldn’t possibly do that now.

I can’t wait for future videos! I am currently trying to 100 percent every Yakuza game too. I started Yakuza 0 back in February 2023, and I am currently finishing up Yakuza 5 remaster. Good luck, because you will need it.
Yeah, I did it in about one and a half year without much effort to do it really fast. I've been playing Yakuza since 2020 and in 2023 I tried re-doing all of them in order.
Honestly pretty much every Yakuza game can be completed in about 2-3 weeks if you skip cutscenes, and know what you're doing.

Mahjong is actually quite simple and easy, it's just that the game doesn't tell you that you have to press a button in order to win the hand (calling riichi). Shogi, koi koi, and oichi kabu tho...
Thanks for this. Recently got into the Yakuza series (starting with 0) and I have a horrid tendency to try for 100% completion (or something resembling it) in basically everything I play, so I was glad to see that someone else properly covered what all of that entailed and discouraged me from doing it myself lol. At the very least I won't go for it on my first playthrough of the game.

Yeah… All the mini games (Except Darts) are the main reason why I only stick to the Sub-Stories of the Yakuza games.

OK so. I hate you for putting this idea in my head because I immediately set out to do it myself. I've only played through (and 100%ed) 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2, so redoing those won't be tooooo hard. currently on 3 though and man I wanna die trying to 100% this. 90 hours in and still got wayy more to go ._. so uhhh. when you get to it I recommend doing most of the extra completion stuff in Platinum Adventure. I'm just too stubborn to.

Major props, sir! It's insane to me that you got through the game so quickly. I just got the platinum yesterday and it took me around 175 hrs. The mini games and climax battles took the longest to finish. Lots of repetition and trail/error for some things. But I'm still excited to start Kiwami in the next month or so after P3 Reload and FF7 Rebirth.

After seeing your first video I decided to attempt this with you. Zero done. Working on 1 now. All I have left to do is the last few bits of equipment/1 weapon and a Legend playthrough. I'm brand new to the Yakuza games and loving them so far.

I'm playaing through the Yakuza games for the first time, currently somewhere in chapter 8 of Yakuza 0 (there's way too much ahead of me), so I'll need to put watching these on a hold before I finish the games themselves. I will be going through part of this journey with you, but I'll probably be slower even when I won't be doing the 100%. I just take my time and play different games on top of Yakuza but I will be commenting my thoughts after every game I finish under the respective video (if anyone cares that is).

good luck with 5, i did take my time and tried to enjoy myself but it took me 220 hours. from what ive seen it should be around 150 so good luck and remember to stay well fed and hydrated as thats the most important part of any run/challenge!

As someone who 100% yakuza 0, i came here looking for someone who suffered in mahjong as I did.
I worked as an usher at a movie theatre and while cleaning I would put on tutorials to mahjong, still a proud day when it finally clicked.
Either way im excited to see the rest of these videos especially for the games ive yet to 100%

Respect to you on actually 100%-ing this game because I think I got about 86% completion and that still felt like too much in retrospect. Like, I don’t think eating every food item was as much an enriching experience as it was a means to an end for upgrades. Great fucking game, though!
Oh my god, the closest I will ever come to 100% in any of these games (for now) is just doing all the substories in 6 (because I've already done like 45 of them anyway). Can't even imagine getting 100% in every single game.

Yeah I started trying to 100% Yakuza 0 casually a few years ago. Mahjong really had me stuck for a while but I did it but I'm still working on the cat fight club. I can only do that for 30-40 mins before I want to do ANYTHING ELSE. Good luck bro.

Great video and good luck bro, this is a crazy challenge to take on, continuing past the trophies to completely 100% every game sounds painful. I try to repress the memory of getting every trophy for Yakuza 3 but I still remember feeling ill after playing pool, darts, and batting for hours upon hours.💀
As someone who's gotten every achievement for 0-7 within the past 5 months I can say that the most annoying recurring parts were all the needlessly sexual minigames and the fucking hostesses, the hostesses have become the only part of these games I cannot even bring myself to listen to anymore, I've started skipping the dialogue and looking up a guide for the right choices because of how mind-numbingly boring they are. (Shoutouts to Cyricz)
I’m always on the lookout for videos of people suffering through completion so I’m glad this was in my recommendations, this is probably one of the best ones I’ve seen as well. Even crazier that you plan on getting 100% in the ones that don’t require 100% for the achievements, which is usually the videos goal.
I’ve platinumed all but Dead Souls and obviously IW so far, and the only ones I didn’t 100% the completion list in are 3, 4, 6, 7, and Gaiden since it’s not required for platinum. I want to maybe do them eventually but there’s no motivation. Seeing your videos on them will be interesting.
Unless I missed it I don’t think your list had Ishin, which would’ve been a fun video to watch, but the challenge is already immense. Regardless though this will be a fun year of waiting for your experiences to be uploaded. Hopefully you enjoy the pain

I learned the basics of Mahjong just to Plat Kiwami 2. Generally said to be the easiest of Yakuza games to plat. You are a madman for starting this.

I planned on 100% these games until I spent hours on Mahjong and Shogi with very little progress being made, and I quickly shifted my completion goal to just doing all the side quests.

Funny story: When I was platinuming the game, I heard that there was an achievement tied to legend and how everyone hated doing it because it was lame and got rid off all your hardwork. So to make my second playthrough more fun, I would do the side hustles and substories on legend and not on my first playthrough. I grinded through both side hustles, did almost every substory (Except for Kiryus amon fight.), and completed the game for the second time plus some stuff I knocked out of my completion list in my free time. But before I did Kiryu's last substory, I wanted to level up my Kiryu and Majima and do some Mr. Shakedown farming.
To my horror, I realized that I missed the encounter finder, (BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON IT WAS TIED TO A 50/50 CHOICE IN A SUBSTORY), and for some reason I can't just give Majima's encounter finder to Kiryu. (WHICH IS BS BTW. I PLAYED THE REMASTER OF 4. THEY ALLOWED CHARACTERS THERE TO SHARE THEIR ITEMS.) And I needed that money for Dragon and the Tiger and leveling up.
So I created a new save and did a new game plus third playthrough. Which made me do all the substories side hustles, and game again. ALL for that damn encounter finder. Needless to say, when I actually did complete the completion list I was more erect than 10 Mr. Libidos.
Knocking out the longest game first is always a good idea, my buddy and I started the yakuza 100% series too and we started with 0!

I have this thing where I’m really good at Yakuza combat and some minigames (batting cage, darts, rhythm games) but I have horrible blind spots (shogi, pool, etc). I heard 3 requires you to play some hard pool matches

For Batting, I was looking very close on Kiryu's head pretty much it helps.
For Space Harrier, and Fantasy Zone I mash my shooting button since I was on PC with KB+M which is not pretty bad providing you had trial and error runs I knew I rage on some parts but with enough practices it's doable without turbo mode.
For Legend, I pretty much got the Zap Gun and Beast/Breaker style then breeze through the game with it, as well as stocking up Staminan Royale.
ive played every yakuza game whilst doing majority of the completion stuff but man mahjong alone stops me from doing this best of luck man
