Dude I've been loving these budget builds. A lot of use don't usually have access to the top end gear so I appreciate these! I also like seeing different builds than the standard. Bring on the fun builds!
I like 3 piece IK with boots, belt, and gauntlets on a budget. Partial bonuses gives you an extra 25% FHR on the belt and the boots will give you +2 combat skills with 3 pieces. Raven Frost is my go to cannot be frozen option
After you make treachery there are a few other armors that work well. Swap treachery with your Merc after the fade proc and give yourself Lionheart or duress if you need better survivability. There are a lot of good budget weapons, such as butcher pupil, Aldur's mace (3os), crescent moon phaseblade, and even a passion will give you the berserk ability if you really don't have the points to get it on your tree. I know you hoarkers out there don't like the cold damage but for leveling the Sureshrill mace got me through a bunch of hell content as well. With fast attacking builds the physical damage on the weapons is less of an issue (to a point) which is why Aldur's and Surehrill combo worked so well. Don't forget if you have Oath or Passion you can use the heart of the wolverine for more AR and damage. Buff the heart of the wolverine spirit so it survives better. If you use Aldur's weapon then add on Aldur's boots and you have an extra 150% AR, combo that with angelic ammy and ring and you should have all the AR you would ever need. Very nice budget build! You really can do a lot with this guy using a couple Mal/Um or less.
berserk is a must there is nowhere you can't go, I run grief crane break, arreats dracs ik belt and boots skulders ravenfrost highlords, gem whatever you can with topaz
Frenzy barbarian is my favorate melee build, although it is almost the worst in terms of damage because of the 5f attacking speed cap, it is the "keep slaying" build for me, once you go frenzy, you won't stop till last monster down
The secret of good barbs is actually low IAS needed to hit 5 APS. Most people got 50+ IAS wasted providing no benefit. Frost nova charges is good tech.
With new update upgrading death sash and death gloves will be very interesting choice as it would also give 8% life leech, As for ik part I prefer having 3 as 10% life leech and +2 combat skills is good bonus, usually lower parts of items.
Yeah frenzy barbs are fun, with the fast running speed. I'm "running" one with full IK except for the weapons, dual Oath. On the weapon swap I like to keep a Lightsaber and an Azurewrath. I have a third set of weapons which is a Grief and CTA, both phaseblades. I run sword mastery (or blade mastery if you're reading this on 2.4 onwards) and pretty similar skill choices as in the vid, I did put a point in leap and leap attack though, those are also fun when you're running around like a troglodyte on meth. Oh yeah, forgot to mention I do run the angelic ring and ammy for attack rating, and IAS jewels in the IK helm to reach the 105 IAS breakpoint.
Good video though I have a few things to add. 1. ignore target defense --> that means what it says. It ignores the defense part of the to hit calculation but the level part remains so it does not mean you hit the target every single time. Plus cth is capped at 95% anyways. So if you are not using a skill like smite you never will hit a 100%. 2. Second slot other good options would be to have an obedience polearm or two heart carvers. If you use the barb for item find and already skilled item find two MF weapons woudl also be beneficial in slot2 3. the sanctuary aura does not only damage but will ignore any physical reistances of undead along with giving you a pretty decent amount of off weapon ed.
What’s the best route to take to get me a lightsaber? Always wanted one and I actually just made myself a lawbringer yesterday. Definitely loving the decrepify on it. Also, change to your warcry sticks when you hork. It’s hard to remember item find is a warcry sometimes.
@@thechristopher2220 I have been crafting caster amulets and gambling is the easiest way that I've gotten mine. Think i found another in cows. I tried trading them for lem and couldn't even offload it so you might be able to make a game and get one for lem/pul.
would a fire act 3 merc be viable while carrying some aura sword? (plague, lawbringer, hustle) ? getting an aura and being buffed with enchant seems nice.
Every Barb build should have at least 1 point in Berzerk for phys immunes. 1 is all you need. With your +skill items it raises zerk up to adequate level to handle the phys immunes, and gives you frenzy bonus. Phil….come on.
He did a good job of putting it out there and why it can be good. I sometimes like to keep my berzerk on swap with a stormshield or other good alternate defensive shield.
Like this, anything with frenzy speedy baba I like. Maybe azurewrath instead of lightsabre? dual sanctuary might be fun. And all that attack speed is very good with that double swing, it used to bug as it hit so fast, don't know if it's still like that. I would go pretty ironman and most stats in str if I can get ar somewhere, maybe upped hsarus.
not on the monsters you kill with lawbringer. you can not loot monsters that rest in peace. frenzy attacks with both weapons, and in this video the lightsaber deals much more dmg, so most monsters die on a lightsaber swing and can be looted with find item.
Hey Phil, do you have a starter list like tier list for starters for the new 2.4 patch? I know pretty much everyone is gonna go pally/sorc like usual but was wondering what other builds are good to start off with.
A wind druid is a great starter build they can wreck with spirit sword an shield. The only trouble you'll have is with cold &physical immunes but you can get a gavel of pain with amp damage charges til you can get a reapers toll or you can use the new act 5 frenzy merc with a lawbringer. Summon grizzly is also a great meat shield, you can get better life with oak sage, and negage elemental damage with cyclone armor. Clear speed isnt as fast as hammerdin but its a strong alternative.
@@Algonqiun fire druid sucks doesnt do enough physical damage, still has cooldowns unless you toggle between skills, to much fire immunity in hell, and once you get used to using Nado much like blessed hammer its simple to hit with and you can spam it unless you lack mana. Hurricane, arctic blast you cant miss with them.
@@markblackburn2343 The Wind druid not my cup of tea. Plus fire druids have such a wide AoE, keeping in mind where you place Volcano/fissure and molten bolder for the Next hit delay or whatever it's called vs cast hurricane, tele stomp and repeatedly cast nado.
i just started frenzy barb on SP while i wait for ladder.. and its the most fun I've had with the game, i just finished NM lvl62, and I dont know should i keep farming NM mephisto and andy till I get better gear or should I go in hell and try to farm pits for phase blades, oath runes.. etc..? :/
Hard to say. I light level some more before going to hell. But I wouldn't really farm nightmare Andy and meph with barb. I'd say level then go to hell pits.
so..my frenzy barb has dual grief/arreats/angelic ammy(swapped from highlord and second RF for the ar) and ring for the huge AR/LoH/string/goblin toe/upped duriel shell and raven. using x2 +3 warcry javs on swap with 2 1WC skiller and a torch and i can barely kill cows..wtf is going on. lvl 86 and struggles with more than like 3 cows in hell. i dont get it
cows are always tough for melee builds, because they hit hard enough to put you into hitstun and there is so many of them - cows basicly chain CC you. I think for cows id switch loh for draculs and duriels for shaftstop to ramp up your sustain and phys dmg reduction. and since you run double grief, you dont need so much AR against normal mobs. the hitchance formula is two parts: (simplyfied!) your AR against target defence (this part gets nullified due to grief) and your level against target level (this part makes it so hard to hit ubers). so if you run grief (ignore target def), its basicly your level vs target level. also maxdmg charms are extremly important for physical melee builds. much better then skillers, those are pretty much useless. *edit: throw barb will be solid for cows in 2.4!
If u are going to go mele barb in cow level u need to use WW…it’s the only “AoE” type skill I have as a mele barb to deal with packs. Then have beserk to deal with 1-3 monsters when WW is hard to aim and control
Super noob question, how do you allocate attributes while leveling? With melees because you can't just ignore it then you can't equip shit or hit shit 😅
Personally, I like doing enough Str for a decent belt (so you have 3x4) and the rest as a 3-2 (Vit/Dex) split. Just helps a little bit with the AR so the experience isn't too miserable. For Norm/Nightmare, Flails will be your best friend.
I really wish frenzy just sped up attacks and not running speed, I always found it annoying to have you character run speed switch between frenzy and normal when it wore off, might just be me but it's jarring.
maxing out sword mastery isn't ideal since it gives diminishing returns. would have been much smarter to max out HP/MP buff warcry and put the rest in sword mastery. especially with budget gear more life is crucial.
He needs some more levels. Every level gives you more life and then pump points into vit and your HP will go up big time. My Frenzy barb had issues at some places till I hit 85 or so after that he is a killer. Dont go crazy on Str or Dex Vit is were most of your points should be going

I'm only playing SSF, have 9 level 85+ characters and 2 other hardcore ones currently going through hell. Done literally thousands and thousands of Meph, CS, Baal, Pindle, Trav, Pit, AT etc. runs and yet to find an Arreat Face...
😞 far far from budget ... FAR. It shows SP doesnt Main a barb .. or simply rates MULTIPLE bis pieces as "budget". Weapons : lightsaber and lawbringer are more expensive and worse than dual upped butchers with a low roll. Gface is BIs for pvm . Budget would be IK helm Gores are bis , real butget is goblin toes. String of ears are darn top , maybe Even Best over dungos . Hwrath is bis for pvm (if You need no AR). The real budget are Angélic combo . Chest : duress ./ Lionheart or low roll vipermagis . Hands : LOH are top tier.. budget options would be IK . Sanders . Or that 40 HP heavy gloves.. This is NOT a budget barb build at all.... Btw WW barbs are still criying bugged tears.. we need a vídeo about it .
how is this far from budget gear? the only items here that i'd say are maybe somewhat debatable would be highlord's and gore riders, but neither is horribly expensive either. lightsabre can be had for pgems, and i'm pretty sure the 2 pul runes required for upping dual butcher's pupil is more expensive than lem + ko. that said, i'd probably go for a headstriker over lightsabre. gface is not especially rare (in my experience it seems to drop with roughly the same frequency as IK in fact) and can be acquired for at most a low-mid rune if you're unable to find one yourself. gores may be best in slot, but they're still reasonably obtainable. goblin toe would be the more budget option, but you wouldn't exactly be breaking the bank by opting for gores instead. string of ears is indeed a great and cheap belt for any melee character, though you'd need to make up for the lack of resistances somewhere else in this case. highlord's is sort of on the edge i would say, might not be quite within reach if you're on a budget. angelic combo is a good alternative, and the cat's eye is worth a mention as well if you need the IAS. duress is nice, but i feel that the fade procs from treachery are invaluable for a budget setup where you'll likely be struggling with resistances otherwise. treachery is also a bit cheaper to make and doubles as a fantastic mercenary armor. there are lots of solid options for this slot though, such as smoke, duriel's shell, shaftstop, etc. LOH are arguably best in slot for PvM, but much like gface, they're also relatively common and inexpensive to trade for.
@@asdfghjkl-un3gv You can't put a gear set up with argusbly 4 bis pvm slots and call it budget .. Budget Also refers to "obtainable by the char itself " and not gifted by other Char ... This may be budget , but sure is a more advanced tipe of budget , missing just the nigma/fortitude and the griefs /grief/beast . Etc.
@@visbaluz i would argue that "budget" refers purely to the cost of acquiring the gear, but even if we're talking self-found and without assistance from other characters it's all still realistically obtainable without too much fuss. your own suggestion of dual upped butcher's pupil and duress are even less budget friendly if we're going by your criteria. enigma/fortitude/grief/beast are harder to get than anything shown in this guide by several orders of magnitude. it's reasonable to draw a line at high runes or the absurdly rare uniques, not so much things that you can easily trade pgems for. an item being best in slot does not automatically make it rare or expensive.

Keep in mind that having lawbringer you cut off portion of Find Item targets, due to SMRIP mod on it.
That SMRIP is so useful at times tho. I’d take that trade off because the amount of bodies you lose is minimal

Finally someone whose "budget builds" use actual budget items, can kill stuff reasonably quick and are attainable a couple days into ladder!
Even if you only put 1 hard point in shout your +skills should still make it useful always remember to command orders and shout

If you’re playing on battlenet, most people just throw them away. I’ve seen lots chucked in ‘free’ games. If need be you can trade for one real cheap.

Blood gloves roll 5-10% CB bonus and 1-3% LL. If you're poor don't forget to craft, it's cheap and you can get some amazing stuff :)
my frenzy barb doesnt have any issues with P3 CS or trav. I tried dual grief, but ended up going back to grief lawbringer.

Is it not quicker to use Frenzy to get the increased attack speed, but then switch to double swing while the frenzy buff is still active?

I tended the character over ftom old d2 single player shop its E-bugged. The defense isn't important at all.

Why don't your items show durability status?
Phase blades don't have durability. They're indestructible by nature.
I started using atma's scarab with oath and it works for me

Cows is not a great place for barb. But your gear sounds good. Must be talking full cow game. It's more of a p1-p3 type of build.

I'm only playing SSF, have 9 level 85+ characters and 2 other hardcore ones currently going through hell. Done literally thousands and thousands of Meph, CS, Baal, Pindle, Trav, Pit, AT etc. runs and yet to find an Arreat Face...

Weapons : lightsaber and lawbringer are more expensive and worse than dual upped butchers with a low roll.
Gface is BIs for pvm . Budget would be IK helm
Gores are bis , real butget is goblin toes.
String of ears are darn top , maybe Even Best over dungos .
Hwrath is bis for pvm (if You need no AR). The real budget are Angélic combo .
Chest : duress ./ Lionheart or low roll vipermagis .
Hands : LOH are top tier.. budget options would be IK . Sanders . Or that 40 HP heavy gloves..

how is this far from budget gear? the only items here that i'd say are maybe somewhat debatable would be highlord's and gore riders, but neither is horribly expensive either.
lightsabre can be had for pgems, and i'm pretty sure the 2 pul runes required for upping dual butcher's pupil is more expensive than lem + ko. that said, i'd probably go for a headstriker over lightsabre.
gface is not especially rare (in my experience it seems to drop with roughly the same frequency as IK in fact) and can be acquired for at most a low-mid rune if you're unable to find one yourself.
gores may be best in slot, but they're still reasonably obtainable. goblin toe would be the more budget option, but you wouldn't exactly be breaking the bank by opting for gores instead.
string of ears is indeed a great and cheap belt for any melee character, though you'd need to make up for the lack of resistances somewhere else in this case.
highlord's is sort of on the edge i would say, might not be quite within reach if you're on a budget. angelic combo is a good alternative, and the cat's eye is worth a mention as well if you need the IAS.
duress is nice, but i feel that the fade procs from treachery are invaluable for a budget setup where you'll likely be struggling with resistances otherwise. treachery is also a bit cheaper to make and doubles as a fantastic mercenary armor. there are lots of solid options for this slot though, such as smoke, duriel's shell, shaftstop, etc.
LOH are arguably best in slot for PvM, but much like gface, they're also relatively common and inexpensive to trade for.

Budget Also refers to "obtainable by the char itself " and not gifted by other Char ...
This may be budget , but sure is a more advanced tipe of budget , missing just the nigma/fortitude and the griefs /grief/beast . Etc.
@@visbaluz i would argue that "budget" refers purely to the cost of acquiring the gear, but even if we're talking self-found and without assistance from other characters it's all still realistically obtainable without too much fuss. your own suggestion of dual upped butcher's pupil and duress are even less budget friendly if we're going by your criteria.
enigma/fortitude/grief/beast are harder to get than anything shown in this guide by several orders of magnitude. it's reasonable to draw a line at high runes or the absurdly rare uniques, not so much things that you can easily trade pgems for. an item being best in slot does not automatically make it rare or expensive.
those are end of game gears, why tell people what they should get when they are going to be 99, teach them how to get there first !
