I don't recall if if was one of your video's I commented on about the slicing, but here's how it works:
Each cluster of symbols joined by blue lines contains one and only one correct symbol. Finding that correct symbol will eliminate the rest of the symbols in that cluster.
The subroutines are accessed by unlocking the skill from the Slicer expert. I think it's called slicing upgrade or something like that and is the far right card in the list. That will give you 2 units of battery power so you can use memory expansion or syntax sorting. Error filtering needs 3 units of battery power and you don't get the option to upgrade to that till you find another expert you've not yet encountered.

Thank you for this! I’ve been trying to apply this every time I have to slice. I don’t know if it’s just user error but I felt the game didn’t explain this quite clearly enough.

There's one treasure in the Mos Eisley outskirts that's really hard to figure out. Locked door, wires leading to a switch a ways from it. Pulling the switch doesn't open it. Nix won't go that far to pull the switch. If that sounds familiar and you haven't stumbled on the very non intuitive answer, here it is: ruclips.net/video/yv3JIxA2tUU/видео.html
You're allowed in imperial areas as long as they're not restricted. As long as you're not actively wanted they don't care about you. One of the best ways to raise rep in the game is to take jobs stealing from the empire since it will raise your standing with a syndicate without lowering it with a different one.
I'm about 15 hrs into my 2nd playthrough and I've got max rep with pykes and CD and just under excellent with the hutts and ashiga by using that stragegy. They all hate the empire and the empire is easy to deal with as long as you're not in Manhunt mode.
One way they could make those knockout animations make sense would be if the DLC has a flashback of Kay losing her right hand and getting an artificial one like Luke did at the end of Empire Strikes Back. Then she's been busting skulls all along with a multi kilogram droid hand that just looks natural and the melee makes sense.

I’ll have to check out that treasure the next time I head out there.
That’s a great idea! My reputation was going up so slowly and I didn’t realize the contract terminal on the Trailblazer until you mentioned it. I’ll have to pickup more jobs to steal from the Empire because I would like to max out all of my reputation with all factions.
I like that idea as well. I wish they started off the game with that idea so it would make sense or if the animation was a taser to the neck. Punching someone with a helmet on just isn’t realistic.
