One suggestion, when you open the hopper to add wood, put the top slide in first! Keeps ash and heavy smoke from entering the chamber. Tommy, do you find the small pieces have a lower moisture content? That’s been my problem with them, the smoke gets sort of bitter
Good tip Larry. When cooking with lump I do the same. Ill have to remember!
Appreciate your videos sir
Been consistent for years
Glad your still at it
Cheers and thanks Chip!
That’s pretty cool
Cheers!
This is really pretty interesting Tommy! I don't own a Masterbuilt Gravity pit, but this would be something I would definitely try!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I run two splits and fill in the gaps with charcoal. My 1050 runs about 6 hours before I have to add any fuel.
Sounds good. That said. Id rather try and stay all wood.! Cheers
Have you ever tried building the fire down in the ash bin? I get a lot of tar-like creosote on the hopper lid from mixing wood and charcoal in the hopper.
I have not.
Nice video Tommy! Definitely would love to see some ribs for the cook off, but I’m sure whatever choice you make will definitely be a Thriller! Cheers brother 🍻
I was leaning some beef chuck! That said. Still undecided!
Love your channel Tommy! Keep cranking out the great vids!
Thanks so much!
Beautiful and informative video Tommy! Glad the “wood only cook” concept is working out for you….!! 😉 Can’t wait for the cook-off video…!!!
Thanks 👍
Very nice!! So essentially do not load it all the way up the chute with wood for a long cook?
I Wouldn't.... I tried that in a test run and it smoldered the fire if that makes sence.
Gotcha. Makes total sense. Ty.
Thanks - Another great informative video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Absolutely love the videos any chance you fancy doing an overnight brisket on the 560
Hi Lewis. Id do one on the lone star before the 560;)... Or 1050! That said. The 560 would be awesome also.
Ok, so what keeps the wood (or charcoal for that matter) from just burning up the hopper? Santa just picked up a MB 800 on clearance at Walmart ($349- smoking deal!)
If the wood was laying flat it would all burn. With the gravity fed it stand uo so the smaller width burns. Hence, gravity fed. Check out the second image bbq-heroes.com/review/masterbuilt-560-smoker-after-7-months/
@@thegalleryBBQ That's pretty wild. Love the channel but gotta say that you just earned a sub! I'll let youtube play some ads too. Cheers Tommy and keep up the great work!
Gotta try this, always looking for something different, flavor city
My man. Enjoy!
Have you seen the upgrades that LSS Mods has for the masterbuilt series
Ive got all of them.
Hey Tommy- do u add wood about every 45 min here similar to an offset?
At least. You do not want that fire to go out! It's an awesome method that does require some babysitting. Cheers
I didn’t have the best results with wood in the hopper. I feel like the fire just turns it into charcoal. Much better results with the wood in the ash bucket but it’s difficult to keep that fire going with ash falling all over it.
I agree...
What kind of wood are you using?
Maple and cherry!
How often do u add woid??
Maybe every 45 min or so.
Waiting for a good salmon video on the masterbuilt
Close..... ruclips.net/video/HSeBwelPajk/видео.html

I love rips.
@@igotJesus88 🤣🤣
Thanks Matt!
Nice I just had a guy ask me to keep my ears open He wants to sell his 580
560? Its an awesome pit if the price is right!
Macho man Randy savage of smoking some meat 😅
😂😂😂😂
LOOKS LIKE YPU GOT IT FIGURED OUT TOMMY
Thanks-
So basically just run the offset then. Why spend a grand when you still have to feed the thing? The 1050 is a grand. My Old Country Brazos was about the same. But the the old country I can get more meat on and run my fire more efficiently. With the gravity feeds these guys are dropping wood in every 30 minutes. If I had to touch my offset every 30 minutes I’d throw it in the trash.
He is the Masterbuilt whisper
You got that right!
I couldn't watch anymore after he pointed at nothing 30 times in the first minute smh
lol.....
Try this one. New style, but still the MB and wood.ruclips.net/video/Q-PD1LfOGQw/видео.html
