you have to remember Sony has more than one conference each year. Paris week, PSX, E3 and another in Japan. Pretty sure they had HZD2 teaser but they kept it for PSX

Everything that they showed looked amazing especially the Big 4! I didn't like the break they took after showing The Last Of Us Part 2 but other than that I really enjoyed the show.
the break was to move the people to the bigger hall, but yeah.. it was a little jarring.

Announcement wise Microsoft won. But like you said Sony had more interesting content even if we already knew about almost all of it.
Exactly, Ms had great pacing and tons of announcements, but not too many major looks at pieces of exclusive content that actually means much. Sony had messy pacing, fewer announcements (where is the dreams date? Where is avengers?) but showed the exclusive stuff people care a lot about in a way that's hard to overlook, I think MS had a better conference but I give a whole lot more fucks about what Sony had to show
pretty much how it always goes.. strongest console but no games.. all the fancy lights during the conference but no games... Xbox had a lot of world premiers that will be available everywhere but has next to know good first party games.. A new Halo and Gears 5... didn't see that coming! they are failing at creating content
The fact that they were talking about Starfield at E3 2018 is crazy.
As a conference it was kinda underwhelming, but for the games that were shown they were impressive as hell.

OMG, what are you going to do? How about wait until they're finished and play dozens of games that are releasing in the next few months. They will come out when they're ready.
Ghost of Tsushima looks like it has something like Nioh combat, if not Dark Souls. But adding to the fact that it's gorgeous and it's apparently a stealth rpg as well.
Love me some PlayStation but I was very disappointed by this press conference.Don’t get me wrong I loved all the games I saw, but there was almost no release dates. And the pacing was just all over the place.
Matt andTim the pacing was weird. I was disappointed, that they kept saying we would get a deep dive from their Big 4. They didn't do a deeper dive then any other e3. Honestly, I felt sony was a little to relax because of their huge lead. I guarantee they weren't expecting Xboxs conference. Sony will step up next year and hopefully Xbox takes this good conference and runs with it. Good competition is better for everyone gamer

Weirdly paced and a little slow. By far the best content of E3 though I can’t wait to play these fucking games.
I enjoy the guys' commentary and jokes throughout the concert, but I really wished they had been quiet during the opening performance.

I know this was three years ago but do you think it would have been better to end the conference with the last of us part 2?

I think that intermission was pretty awkward and totally not what I want to see after getting hyped up from that brutal Last of Us pt2 trailer but definitely better than the EA one which put me to sleep at one point. But I actually enjoyed the musical touch Sony had. The banjo was nice with the tent and low lights as well as the gorgeous field behind the flute player. I know its not to everyone's taste but I thought it was cool and it is kind of Sony's thing - so I loved it. That RE2 looks fantastic, and I felt so bad for Spiderman but his trailer was hype af. I wasn't originally interested in Ghost of Tsushima but this trailer has me pumped! They also had the best put together Kingdom Hearts III Trailer in my opinion. All in all, I thought this was the best one - at least until I see Nintendo's Direct. "We're in a pickle now, Norman!" Dammit you guys take this seriously! I freakin' laughed through that whole gameplay trailer of Death Stranding! XD

As a PlayStation fan, this was bit of a wet fart. Though I did enjoy some of the gameplay footage even though I think they showed a little too much. Gustavo Santaolalla was dope though...

Quaalid lol all I wanted to see was them try to defend it so hard. I love Sony and will always root for them but these guys are the most annoying fanboys who can’t ever look at E3 objectively
If we look at the games showcased, Playstation did well. Ubisoft, Microsoft and EA were showcasing CGI trailers most of the time. Even Cyberpunk was a disappointment, since they didn't showcase any gameplay while we already know the world setting based on their teaser 5 YEARS ago.
So I can understand why people may like Sony's E3.
Overall, this E3 as a whole was lackluster so far, my only hope is Nintendo having a good press.

Fair enough. To me the combat, powers, graphical style and overall vibe of the game all are reminiscent of Quantum Break to me. Looks like it could almost be a sequel.
I never played it, but I'm assuming this game won't have a shit ton of scenes from a show integrated into the game.

Thumbs down for the guy in the middle just on his phone the entire conference. Don't bother putting up a reaction video if you aren't even going to watch the show.
I like the cel shaded spiderman games, as it gives it more of an identity and feels less generic and by the numbers feeling with other open world superhero game such as prototype or infamous. it Just, captures that cheesy popcorny feel which i think is what spiderman is best at. i don't like making superheroes gritty for the sake of grittiness in action adventure games. i'd like it if everytime you hit a foe/villian or did a chained combo it would use onomatopoeia words like BAM! POW! POP! in text bubbles just like those comic books do. this insomniac version feels like those countless bad spiderman movies instead of going down a more obscure root like the 67 tv series. that would be far more unique and interesting.

This actually didn't bother me. What I respect the most about Sony is how innovative and experimental they are. They'd rather try something and fail than not do it out of fear and wonder what if. And now they know for the future. Sure the transition didn't go as planned but once they were in the other theater the games that were shown were shown back-to-back without anyone needing to introduce them or explain them to you. Everyone is looking for a flaw from Sony since they've always been so polished and ready to deliver but people are forgetting that Sony has nothing to prove. They've been more than stellar these last couple of E3's and they wanted to actually go out of their comfort zone and try something different. And you know what? I commend them for actually doing something a little extra and immersive for the actual audience that spent actual money to go out of their way from all parts of the world to attend E3 and that specific conference.
No Bloodborne 2? Thought that was a given to appear god damn it.

If there's any doubts about Naughty Dog being top of the game, they have all been totally erased! Somehow they've raised the bar so much higher from a technical standpoint. TLOS2 looks and feels next gen. Stunning!

Dudes, real talk. You HAVE to learn how to be a bit more critical of sony. If you aren't then they'll think they did the right thing/got away with it and do it again. If you truly love the platform and aren't just overly attached blindly loving playstation with ignoring their missteps, then be critical of the thing you truly love. That's the only way it can get better. This conference was nothing compared to last years. Last year with the orchestra and god of war and all that blew this one out of the park. Game after game, no multiple awful 5-10 minute breaks except for music. Ubisoft was better than this conference by far in my opinion, the presentation was perfect there. Here, it was really bad. I mean shit, look at your chat during that, everyone was calling you out for being fanboys and not being critical of them, (although I dont agree with the people being extremely rude.) It's cool to be positive and always look for the positives in things, but you can't ignore the negatives either. Both are important. Sony is a corporation, and sony answers to a board and all those guys care about is your money. It's just disheartening to see you guys not giving them crap for something they deserve. I trust your opinions on a lot of things, but I can't trust your opinions when it comes to sony. You're just too biased. I know as a kinda funny best friend I'd love to see a little bit more objectivity and criticism when it is due. Hell, I'd even take constructive criticism, but quickly going over a single negative and not mentioning the others isn't doing anyone favors. Except sony. Gaming is great, but the industry has a good amount of problems, and while this is fairly trivial one in the grand scheme of things, it just shows us how biased you guys are.
Anyways, ILY guys, you're the best and I'll end on a positive note. Spider Man looks fucking awesome, and I need to see more. I really wish that it'd come out on PC too since that is my main platform of choice, but it doesn't seem likely.
I’m sorry but the intermission was an absolute joke, I’m on PS4 and they clearly didn’t have much to show so they cut it down, the live music was not needed, Microsoft won, if Microsoft did an intermission they would get torn apart.

I have seen every Sony E3 conference, and this is by and far the worst thing I have ever seen. Sony is starting to look like Sony 2005, they are so smug right now it is absolutely disgushting. I was half expecting Shawn Layden to bust out the old "Next gen doesn't start tell we say it does" line. What are they doing with PS+ and PS Now to compete with EA, Ubisoft, Nvidia, Microsoft, and the rest going after them? When are any of these games actually coming? Why tease Dreams between every vidoe, then mention nothing about it? Time to smack them on the back of the head, and put them back in line.
Kevyn Grams I don’t think it’s necessarily cockiness, but more so, prioritization. PSX holds more weight for PlayStation than E3 does now. However, if PSX 2018 is as wack as PSX 2017 was, then Sony truly is lost.
Definitely not smugness or complacency at work here. Even at the outset, you could hear Shawn Layden using conciliatory language; he knew people watching expected a lineup of new titles, fresh releases. But Sony has reached a point in their production cycle where their first party devs have all either just released a game like Santa Monica, are starting new projects such as Guerrilla Games or Japan Studio, or are knee deep in development like Naughty Dog or Bend Studio. They could have acquired more third party support like Microsoft, but instead chose to focus on their major upcoming games. This allows the cycle to breathe a little, for behind-the-scene deals with second and third party devs to cement, and for their first party devs to work without having to release teasers for games two or more years out.
It's definitely not a people pleasing move, but definitely a considered one. The lack of PS service updates is conspicuous but we were forewarned iirc. The only question I have is the one you asked: why is Dreams not being shown fully when it's approaching release soon?

I give the Sony Confrence a (C- ) the pacing was bad.. the games that had gameplay shown had no release dates and no new games were shown, would easily been a (B) if it wasn't for that out of place long wait time smh

Yeah man had sony shown a release date for the new last of us that would of killed Microsoft in my opinion. It seems all of the consoles have games coming out in 2019. I still can't believe that RE 2 Remake is coming out in the first month of next year that's mind blowing.
Good conference overall, but it’s a clear example of why competition is good. In 2016 Sony BURIED Microsoft and this year people are debating which conference is better. Although Sony did great, Microsoft’s acquisition of 5 new studios will inspire new innovation within the industry, so I hope Sony picks this up next year.

You still need good games, Sony has been on a roll for a little while now. They could announce new IPs next year and Xbox will still be playing catch up.

I'm not sure what Andy's doing on here. He voted Sony over MS because he's a fan of one game. Where's the professionalism, the assessments, analysis of the conferences in their entirety? All three of these clowns voted down MS simply because they don't play Xbox and never got into their exclusives. Sorry for ranting, but I've always looked up to Kinda Funny Games but this just proved something to me on their bias, they are truly just fanboys in the end. This panel needed Gary Whitta. The Last of Us Part 2 blew my fucking mind as expected. I love what Naughty Dog did with the game’s combat. It’s even tighter and more fluid than Uncharted 4’s. Super intense, gritty, and violent. I can’t wait to see more. Hopefully, next time we will see Joel show up for once. 😭
Death Stranding honestly didn’t impress me, and I’m not anymore interested in the game than I was before. I hate to sound like an Xbox fanboy, but the game looks like a fucking walking simulator. 😴

Ghost of Tsushima looks even better than I thought it would. It looks like a fusion of the best of inFamous’s traversal and For Honor’s swordplay mechanics, just more streamlined. Very impressed with Sucker Punch’s shift in genre direction. 👌🏽
Control looks like Quantum Break 2. Hopefully, it isn’t as disappointing as Quantum Break. 🤷🏽♂️

PHXNTXM I think they were showing the atmosphere with death stranding, they’re was an part when the one dude pulled out a gun but then they cut it. It has to be some actual gameplay mechanics, but I agree very weird game.
Control actually looks pretty cool, imo. Made by the dudes who made Max Payne.
Ghost Boy See that’s the thing. The part of the trailer where Norman Reedus had a gun was intriguing. It built up suspense and anticipation, only to kill those emotions and replace them with more overwhelming senses of mundanity and confusion. Hideo Kojima’s vision for Death Stranding over the years has become less about being based on art in its purest form, and more about it being focused on pretentiousness.

Ghost Boy Yeah, but those games still delivered a basis to enthrall yourselves within. Mystique is a luxury truly rewarded once information is dealt, and that is just something that we aren’t getting with Death Stranding...still...
ghost of tsushima is the assassin's creed in feudal japan that I always wanted but never could be. it is badass.

At least I didn't have high expectations from Sony, they already said they will show the big 4 and they did. The 4 games look great. The only other announcements I cared about were Remedy game and of course Nioh 2.
Now if Sony had other 3rd party games to compliment their amazing exclusives list, the conference would have been 10 times better. For example show MK11, Borderlands 3, RDR2, FF7, the new Rocksteady game (Superman or whatever).
MS showed 3rd party games 80% of the time and they had more exciting news and fooled anyone that can't tell what is exclusive, timed exclusived, console exclusived, etc. They are lacking in exclusives and still depend on Halo, Gears and Forza. It used to be a joke, but now it's actually reality

the flow of the conference was badly structured ..the concept of a special stange for a single game is great ..i feel like that's the way sony should ended ..and in transition the should just throw trailers of upcoming games (multiplat , first-party, VR etc.)

Ghost Boy Yeah, but the first and last part of the trailer were flashbacks. The meat and potatoes of the gameplay shown takes place further on in the game. Something dramatic has happened. If it hadn’t, then Ellie wouldn’t be acting as recklessly and killing as relentlessly against this group as she is. Either, Tommy’s entire community fell, or Joel was murdered.

if you were basing best conference on what games you liked the most then why even rank them? Your PlayStation fans over all. Of course last of us 2 would appeal more than halo 6. It just seems pointless to rank when you say Xbox was a better conference but you liked PlayStation games more.

Essentially they are saying they liked MS's presentation more, but Sony's content was better overall.
It's the same as saying that you liked the way a a meal looked on the plate at one restaurant, but thought the same meal taste better at a different restaurant even though it wasn't as pretty on the plate.
At the end of the day, you remember both aspects, but what weighs more important is the way it taste/ the content as that is what will have you coming back.
