11:00 I really don't know why everybody hated it so much. Lover is still my favourite album and it signifies many points in her life. But that's my opinion.
From my perspective, Lover was hated because of it's political correctness.

I've noticed these days that Taylor distance herself from politics which is a good thing because politics is a dirty game and celebs like Taylor should never deep dive again on that.

Honestly, some people just don't want songs that are about having fun and have an upbeat melody.

There's a lot of good songs from Lover that deserve to be Singles but Taylor didn't choose them.

Only 3 or 4 songs in the album have a political view so don't you think everybody just dissing on the album is kind of unnecessary? I think the main problem with people who usually enjoy her music is that Lover was just too happy or upbeat for their liking.

My obsession with Taylor Swift started more recently. I watched your ranking of Midnights it was good! Honestly the only song of hers that I despise is Today Was a Fairytale. I have a small list of Mehs which is mainly her debut album but the rest of her discography was great.

I have a theory that people only hate on Lover because of Me and You Need To Calm Down, ignoring all the other bops in the album. Cruel Summer and Afterglow really deserved to be singles instead.
@@ifgustavYeah, that’s exactly what’s going on with this era. And she made it worse by making those two songs the lead singles when they shouldn’t have even been on the album at all. (The Man can be cut altogether too.) They are so out of place on this amazing record. Cruel Summer is one of the best pop songs ever written. By anyone. And she slept on it 😭😭😭. The singles line-up should have been Cruel Summer, DBATC, Lover, and Afterglow and I swear the album would have been received differently. I love The Archer but don’t necessarily think it should have been a promotional single; it can just be on the album and reign supreme as one of her most vulnerable track 5s. End rant 😆.

100% Folklore/Evermore era since I adore The National and never realised how much of a good fit they would be.
For years, I wasn't much interested in what Taylor Swift was doing. I come from a punk and metal background - however, I have always had a place in my heart for female singer-songwriters who fall into the alternative genre. I love Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor - and have a healthy respect for the women who paved their path: Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, Carole King, Kate Bush.
I got to the Swiftie party a little late, but once I got on board, I've stayed there since.
I used to be a karaoke enthusiast, and Taylor and I have a similar range, so I adopted "Mean," "Safe And Sound," and " You Belong With Me" into my singing repertoire.
I gained a deeper appreciation for her when Reputation came out, and when I saw Miss Americana, that was it - she had become my friend whose vlogs and videos I would watch to get myself out of a funk, remind me that there's faith to be had in humanity, and be inspired to be a better person. I know a lot of hardcore swifties despise "Shake It Off" but to them I say, the reason that song was such a huge hit universally is because the song and video inspire good feelings and serve up seratonin with a delightful horn section and just enough visual evidence that she doesn't take herself *too* seriously, so it's safe for me (and us) not to ake ourselves too serously. I would rather watch that video and jam to it and sing along, than take antidepressants. I don't think I am alone in that.
I have an enormous amount of respect for her as an artist and storyteller after her pandemic records, and Midnights has been like therapy for me, and I think many others.
Taylor is a lot more than just a singer or a songwriter - she's a clear channel for what's good in the world, and we can all learn from and be inspired by her example. She brings a lot of good into the world and she helps people with her art. It's a beautiful thing to be a part of.

1989 was the peak for me. A lot of songs got played on the radio to the point where they all just grew on me. I really can't say no to a good Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran or Coldplay song
I’ve been a Swiftie since the fearless era too! Even tho I don’t normally listen to pop shes one of my all time favorite artists even after all these years! Red is def my favorite album by her, I adore every song exept for Stay Stay Stay. Speak Now and Evermore are also really high up there. My favorite songs of hers are Begin Again, Enchanted, Cowboy Like Me, New Romantics, Haunted and Hey Stephen.

In the album Red I infact loved the song 22 I listened to it a lot as a kid and I have a lot of memories tied to it. When she says "dress up like hipsters" in the beginning, me and my sister used to think she was saying hamsters so we used to sing "dress up like hamsters". A fond memory for me, but I am definitely not hating on you for not liking that song.
When I was little, I was also very obsessed with her. But I was so obsessed I was actually SCARED of listening to music by other people. I mostly listened to her songs from around the 1989 era and the reputation era. I'm currently a 12 yr boy btw.

@@afailedabortion yes! I was thinking about adding "after folklore and evermore" cause her releasing folklore and evermore really had a great influence on people seeing her as an artist. After folklore and evermore, it almost became a trend to be a fan of Taylor, like people used to do with Lana, "I love my indie underground artist Taylor who makes really deep songs that y'all can't understand" type of vibes.
I swear, she gained like 2x respect after the release of folklore and evermore. And people who left her when she changed from country to pop came back after Fearless TV and RED TV. And those who lost interest from her after the release of folklore/evermore came back after the release of Midnights.
Also ty, I was definitely trying for folklore x evermore themed name and I was definitely trying to make a channel names that's never been used before.

Great video and animations. In terms of specific song favs and flops we don’t relate. But your journey becoming a Swiftie, falling out and falling back in mirrors mine quite closely. Since I loved her pop country sound, completely losing it in 1989 was traumatic for me at first and I needed time to appreciate the album as a pure pop record. But after that I didn’t even know reputation had released (because life stuff happened the same time) but later found it and after seeing the rep tour on Netflix I was converted to the album. Lover… meh, but then the golden era of folklore and evermore happened 😊

Like you, I was a swiftie since the Fearless era in 2008 & fell abit out of love with Taylor post-red-1989 era. Not that I hated her or anything I still kept tabs on her but was definitely less obsessed with her in the 1989 era. However, from Rep, my love for her went BOOM and over the roof!! I dare say every album after Rep was a hit (including lover, sorry Jess :P) Thanks for the video. I loved having someone to identify with and relate to
My favorite Era is Speak Now. It has just the right amount of country and pop feels. But the Era that means the most to me is Fearless. Not only is it the Era where I knew I was a swiftie but ots the Era my best friend and I knew we could bond over something as big as her music!!

her music isnt the type id normally listen to but a lot of her songs are nostalgic for me because all i used to listen to from elementary to halfway through high school was whatever pop/rap songs were on the radio. now i listen mostly to rap/hip-hop and a little r&b and soul and alternative music

Favourite era... oooh that's tough. I don't have the extra sense of nostalgia as I'm only about a week older than speak now but honestly looking back speak now has some really good music! My parents especially like speak now for songs like haunted and the story of us.

I don't care a ton for Taylor Swift but god do I feel the back-of-the concert thing. The time I went to my first concert (ashley mcbryde concert, I love her) I was 10 and we were near the back and I could barely see shit. We ended up going up to the balcony towards the end so I could actually see her (This was a stand-up concert)
Edit after watching the end: As I said I haven;t heard much of Taylor Swift but I can almost guarantee my favorite era would be the very early one because I am a country fan 100%
