I think Rathbone is probably my second favorite Holmes after Jeremy Brett. It's a pity that the writers felt it necessary to turn Watson into a buffoon in the films, but I understand why they felt the need. This really is a very entertaining adaptation of the book, even if it's not as close to the source material as I would like. Great review!

Yes, it's sad that they leaned so much into comedy for Watson and that Bruce gets all the blame for it. This is my favorite Hound adaption I've seen so far. It certainly differs from the book, but it's close enough and captures the feel of the source material.
