I played this tank, and researched both 8 tiers. I wanted to stay on the "small gun" because of the rate of fire and higher penetration & accuracy, however after approximately 70 battles with no ace tanker, I decided to try another "big gun", and yeah, since then I did ace tanker, and had better battles.

    • @pierretremblay6812

I did exactly the same thing! I almost did not try the "big gun" because most of the posts favored the "small gun". However, my fun rate went way up with the "big gun" and hence my performance. I think that which gun is best for this tank is mostly related to one's play style.

@@alexstromberg7696 where did i mention standing in front of them for 5mins. A-43 57mm standard pen is shit, and as i am being a free to play, my only option is agressiveness or camping. thats where comes in good mobility, good spotting distance, good camo and tactics. try to get behind them by going around a hill or something. if that aint possible then just push in with max speed and do circles around them. these two can usually be done in places where are no bushes, and enemy doesnt have anyone who supports him. i manage to take max 3 tanks at same time if enemies are donkeys. with spotting distance at 427 you spot really good for tier 6 tank. i have 20% camo rating atm, but i dont have the camo skill maxed out yet, but it is better than most of the equal tier tank camos. plus the mobily and gun handling is so good that i just peak out my nose shoot, and when he shoots me im already reversing so he hits the very edge of my tank and i bounce it when trading in long ranges so i really dont see a problem. when pushing tier 6 tanks, then i usually take 100-200 dmg while doing 700-800dmg.
altho on leo, i would probably be using 300dmg gun. leo isnt really that mobile, to make 75mm really shine at its best.

With a poor free to play crew, good luck snapshotting (so you wont stay in front of enemies) with the big gun when there is any distance. I found it works best in city environments where distances are short.
With the 75mm the Leo becomes a better Comet imo. as it has better gunhandling but everything else pretty much the same.
Also the armor can be trolly if you know how to use it.

I 3-marked the Leo with the 75mm quite a while ago. The gun handling, shell velocity and reload time makes it MUCH more versatile. Personally found the 105mm to be like a derp gun pretending to be a "standard" gun. You either peekaboo brawl with it or shoot at stationary targets at medium range.

  • @Moerfel

I tried both guns on the Leo and got MUCH more successful with the 105mm gun just because i can handle high alpha guns better. I like to peek-a-boom with my tanks and the 105 is the better Option for me.
Still tried to grind it as fast as possible. I absolutely love the high tier meds. Love the tier 10 and kept the tier 8
I always played it as a supporter.
Both guns have pros and cons.
Small gun: better DPM, Pen and RoF / low damage per shot means you have to fire constantly to rack up damage. And as you have paper armor, you cannot just sit there and blaze away.
105mm gun: better Alpha and module damage, high fear factor against lower tiers, you can almost always out-trade same tier and lower tier tanks (but never try to 1v1 high DPM tanks like T-43, Comet, Cromwell or T-34-85M) / not viable for sniping because of bad gun handling. If you miss, enemies tend to rush you, if you are alone

I myself tried both guns when I unlocked the Leo. After almost a hundred games (fifty with each gun) I concluded that I far preferred the 105mm. The speed and stealth of the Leo make it a prime ambush tank, and the hefty alpha maximizes her smashing power when she sneaks up on an unsuspecting red tank. Still, anyone who wants "tame the wild firepower of the 75mm" has my respect; she competes well with either gun, you just have to adopt the proper tactics.

I hated the 75 because nobody actually fears you (They will peek once, see that you only did 150 and then rush you), once you hit them once with the 300 damage, they most likely wont try again. Also with the 75 you HAVE to sit and make use of the DPM to actually achieve anything, with the 100mm you can just peek, shoot your shot (possibly even overmatch your target) and retreat. If you want to do the same 300 with the 75, you have to sit there or peek 2 times.

Alpha is waay more reliable on a tank with this characteristics, since it has no armor and not a lot of hp. When I played it, I kind of enjoyed it, it's a mobile tank with big gun and 10 gun depression. The only bad thing about this tank is that the big gun is quite derpy, but using the mobility correctly, you can play at mid to close range and smack people hard.

Something big gun does which little 150 alpha damage doesn't; Is being a deterrent. You're not scaring anyone with your little peashooter and so you end up having them storming you. While a big 320dmg scare them more, they think twice. Sometimes they fall back, you took out a third or more of their HP. 150 dmg on average, they gonna put 3 in you and you're dead. With 300dmg, the same encounter can last 5 minutes because he won't show up to shoot you. Etc. It is situational for both, in more aspects, indeed. I just wanted to point one you might be over looking, about big alpha. Scare factor.
(Just like a peashooter, they don't realise they are getting close to death before it's too late.)
You sometime lose dpm to gain time. Nullifying the longer reload.
P.S. i use the baby gun on the Leo nevertheless, for this one it's good, it has 370 view range, make use of it, and fine camo in my opinion. Sadly, on the Swedish, the great gun depression is hindered by a paper armor turret and gun mantle. Along in the turret, ammo, loader, gunner seem to be until Leo. Yet i'm having a good win rate with Swedish since i fully upgraded lago.

The big gun because it’s meta due to the corridor maps heavily favoring high alpha. There’s a reason the latest premium tanks keep pushing for higher and higher alpha even though that has lead to WG considering an HP increase for all tanks in the first place.

  • @MrKillswitch88
    @MrKillswitch88 5 лет назад

F2P can do all those things with the exception of buying premium tanks and drastically reduced access to zero perk crews provided the player is efficient which is more than what can be said of most paying players. As for the crews it helps to delay moving up until there is 1.5-2.5 rows of crew perks so by the time one gets to tier 8 they won't be fucked only having just the bare minimum plus crew books are a big help.

The way I see it, if you have equipment, great crew with lots of crew skills, and are running with prem consumables, the big gun can work wonders. If you have a 75% crew, run with small repair kit, small first aid kit, and fire extinguisher, and use the holy trinity of equipment (i.e. toolbox, binos, and camo net), then the big gun is a waste of time and is incredibly frustrating to play with. The smaller gun is superior in every possible way in that scenario and will make the grind up to both tier VIIIs so much less painful.

as a free to play player, who has had the leo for a couple of years and has kept it even though i am gathering money to buy kranvagn (we ll being doing that for like 15 months but ok...) i have to say the bigger alpha is better for me in every situation except one. when u shoot sb for 300 dmg they notice you and they drop the other guy to focus u. when u dmg them for 150 every 5s they ignere u until u have taken more than half their hp, and it becomes a bit late to start focusing u.
but trades, pen (even thoug the diference is minescule, probably because of the caliber), tracking and everything else works better for me with the bigger alpha
and btw my crew is on low % of the second skill, just because i ahve the better crew moved to emil ii
this tank is great even at t9 mm, when u are able to be sneaky and climb somewhere behind enemies' asses and feed on them, and they cant focus u because they have to fight your t9s. that is the ebst games i have with this tank

Actually i grinded that tank 2 times with both guns lol!! 1st i grinded EMIL I with the 75mm gun not even bought the 105 mm gun =P then i sold the tank and when the UDES medium tank line was anounced i bought the tank back and used the 105 mm to grind the UDES 14. Well when i bought the tank back i have a very nice crew, (i have the tier 6 swedish auto-loader premium medium tank and i like to play it from time to time so i had BIA and 6th sense like the hull and turret dispersion perks fully grinded and i was starting to grind the 3rd perk on them) so that 105 mm when i get the crew back to 100% again it started to work very nicely! for me the major diference to work with the 75mm gun we have to be 2nd or 3rd line suport tanks, more like TD's to really get the DPM working and being safe to shot multiple times, normaly beind cover when some one spots for you. Or if you are deling with very slow heavys and they are alone you can outmanouver them and flank them. those are the main ways to use that gun. The 105mm is more flexible. You can go in make a shot and pull back to cover this is a gun that is meant to be used in closer distances using cover and ridge lines pick and make the enemy make mistakes and use them to hurt them back! And if you are dealindg again with slow unsuported heavys you can do the same but do twice the amount of damage. that gun is great when you deal with lower tiers, that alpha really can wreck them very fast and that nice slope in the hull can even bounce some lower tier guns!! I even used some HE in that tank!! Men you really feel rewarded when you one shot lightly armoured tanks like T67 a lot of light tanks and allmoust all artys!!!

@@Stubbarifirst part, we do have tanks in game that have multiple barrel selections already and I can tell the difference by simply looking at it from a distance or from receiving a hit from it
Like the Tier X non autoloader French Heavy for example, pretty easy to tell by looking at it or receiving a hit from it
Second part, I said that there should be pros and cons to them all, it could be lacking if penetration, shell velocity, damage
No nation should have the same gun stats unless it's the exact same barrel and ammunition used, if that makes sense, I'm shit when it comes to explaining, that's what I'm thinking anyways

I don’t see the problem with IDing a TD barrel, lol, I sure as hell can remember the difference from receiving hits from the WT E-100 haha. Same with the borsig, but that’s an VIII. I think the game in general needs an overhaul and rebalancing to make every tank unique and not have one that’s overall better. That’s my opinion and probably an unpopular one

@@Stubbari eh, I disagree though, the 120 on S Conq and AMX are the same but the Conq is better when it comes to gun handling, but I think it should sacrifice shell velocity of penetration for it where as the AMX would have poor gun handling but have great so and so

As the two previous people mention, this video talks about those tanks with 2 guns that are interchangeable, that both work well to the point you could use either or. The Conway, Borsig, maybe even some of the Japanese heavies are an example of these tanks. The highlight of the T30 is it’s 155mm, and just as much the 100mm for the T44. I’ve only seen people use the 122mm for the T44 because they have to, hardly because it was a choice, and I’m not surprised. With terrible gun handling, and mediocre pen, what’s the point of using something that does 390 damage if you can barely even manage to deal it?

Like QB said at the start of the video they are two different play styles. the 75mm is better if you like to move around and prefer to not fight head on kind of like light tanks. the 105 is more of a brawler gun more suited for those who want to play more like a med/heavy. personally I like the 105 better cause right now its all about alpha damage.
