FIRST IMPRESSIONS of MANILA 🇵🇭 We were SHOCKED by THIS! First day in the Philippines

- Wow, we are in Manila! And we hit the ground running in this video where we show our first impressions of this city! We were seriously impressed by how many people we got to interact with and all the incredible spots we got to see in this big city!
We were overwhelmed but in the best way!
As soon as we walked outside, people were smiling and waving to us which made us feel instantly welcome! We explore the busy side alleys of Pasay where we got to see loads of Jeepneys! Take a taxi to one of the biggest malls in Asia, Have a brisk walk by the bay, take our first Ferris wheel ride in Asia! And end of our day walking the streets of BGC high street! Over all it was such an incredible day exploring this beautiful city! We can’t wait to show you what we get up to next!

Lots of pilipino will take you in,as long as you fit in.
Filipinos are genuinely nice and courteous to foreigners... Many expats have the same experience.. Filipinos are down to earth race in the world... the Philippines is a hidden gem in southeast asia.. Why I say this? Most western tourists only know Thailand on their travel bucket list when it comes to Southeast Asia... little did they know that the Philippines is way better.. I myself can attest to that.. Its the people that makes them better than their neighboring countries..

The mal of Asia is amazing. The area around Manila Bay is interesting. If you like live music there are little bars around that offer great food and entertainment. Some places have multiple band play. They switch off every few songs. The Philippines is known for great musicians.

You know manila has alot to offer as well. Its a treasure waiting to be explored. Just like Bangkok or many other large cities.
I remember one of my trips to philippines i had just got off the plane..cleared customs. I had no luggage only small carry on seeing i had a house outside manila.
As i stepped out of the air port i found my self taking a deep breath and thinking aaah manila. The smell of all the steet venders cooking filled the air. Manila is a great place to explore...it offers a divers cultural richness and a mix of modern day living.
I have lived in different areas of the philippines from manila suburbs to small fishing village to a resort island. In fact we are getting reafy to move back to the ncr well about 2 hrs outside it in Bulacan.
You need to realize each person has there own interests in what they enjoy and what the area and culture has to offer them.
You can be happy in a plush rain forest and find contentment there other may find interest in the cultural jewel manila
I love Thailand been going there for over 20 years but there is no question that the Philippine people are the friendliest of all the places i have been and it seems as if you are feeling the same way.. L.A Rob

BTW, the one I enjoyed when I was there was Subic and stayed at ACEA Subic Beach Resort. You might want to check that out. It is relaxing there and the Hotel looked like it’s hugging the beach. I was surprised at how different Manila was than I had imagined. It has a clean and tidy appearance.
The country is in transistion right now after going through a serious Debt Crisis. More and more developed places are coming up though some areas are still behind. Nevertheless, wherever you are the people in general will want to make feel welcome and safe.
To say that Manilla is clean , you must be Blind , or sponsored to see what the sponsor wants you to see , you seem like good people , get off the tourist track & meet 'the locals' , travel & live with them , the Real philippines is not 5 star hotels , its struggling & managing ,the best it can , with manners & respect ,whilst the churches rob it Tax Free ,
Local Government initiative and good leadership. That makes the changes. That to their Mayor.
For 5 star tourists may be, walk in the backstreets of semi industrial areas, the law means nothing, people live there, I have seen it 2014-15-16-17 , maybe you went after a typhoon, washed it all away,

Thank you for sharing your first impressions of Manila. Your enthusiasm is contagious and your appreciation of all that the Philippines has to offer is welcomed by the locals. We Filipinos love to treat foreigners to our special brand of hospitality. Of course, as experienced travelers, you know there are always downsides to foreign locales especially in "Third World" countries, and you may have to adjust your rosy-colored view to align with reality. However, as long as you're flexible, patient, and careful, the experience should be positively memorable.
Yes every country has the downsides, but please enjoy your journey in the Philippines. Spend more time in the cities first before going to adventures in every islands or provinces of the Philippines.

I ask you to get out to the Provinces , for a more balanced view , & the people are not so 'westernised' sure they speak english if they want (much like the french) , they understand , get the exchange rate right & you will do much better than banks or W/Union , The provinces are near untouched beauty , I would not drive there again , traveling with locals is far cheaper,& unknown parts become available

@@GUITARTIME2024 We love living here. There is so much to do around here, with beaches in Nusugbu and Batangas, views of the Taal Lake and Volcano, and lots of restaurants and clubs. We seldom have to use our air conditioners. We have many Fruit trees, Coffee and Cacao trees, and some beautiful tropical plants growing in our yard. Let us know when you. come here and we will show you around.

Yup, you shouldn't have problems communicating while you are here...just about everyone speaks English and the signs, radios and TV shows are also in English. Just continue to engage with the locals, we love it when tourists interact with us. I think you guys will really enjoy it here. I know that everyone appears to be really friendly and they are, but like everywhere else, there are also some bad people. I guess what I'm trying to say is that have a great time, but also always be aware of all your surroundings. I'm really jealous 😩, I wish I was home right now. Have fun! Take care and stay safe! 👍

Hi! Filipina from the USA. The SM Mall of Asia is huge right? Went there back in early 2020. So many stores and things to do! You two went to the Philippines at the best time of the year. One thing I love with the Filipinos, and even myself I experienced this when we visit another place away from our hometome. Filipinos treat visitors like celebrities. Everyone are really special for us. I hope we can maintain this character and pass this on to the next generation.
Our kababayans or countrymen are very childlike and friendly. Although dont keep your guards down in certain areas similar to other countries but generally it really is more fun in the Philippines. The more I travel outside of the Philippines, the more I appreciate my country esp the beaches.
I've been here for 2 months. Yes,the people are fantastic. I say hello to everyone and they always respond with a hello. They don't have a lot of money but they are very wealthy in a different way. Enjoy 🙂

Btw, if you raise your hands toward the jeepneys it usually means you want to ride it, so if you wave towards them, they really are gonna stop in front of you haha you can just shake your head again to say you're not going to ride so they can go on their way again
What a sweet video. I am from Canada. I stayed in the Philippines many many years ago and I am due back in 2023. I have been to several countries in SE Asia, Thailand included. But I have to give the Philippines two big thumbs up. Some of the Friendliest and most helpful people I have ever met. They are very welcoming and overall, happy to have visitors. They will almost always recommend the 'local good spots' over the touristy spots (and they're almost never wrong). I left there many years ago and it broke my heart to leave as I met so many great people and made lifelong friends. I am so happy you two had a wonderful first impression. I can see that you are travelling to some special spots further south, and I'm sure you're going to be beyond impressed. The Philippines is indeed: a gem in all of SE Asia. Let's hope for more 'first impressions' that equal or surpass your first ones of Metro Manila. Magingat lagi! (be careful always). Mabuhay mahaba kayong dalawa (Live long you two). :)

Filipinos say “po” in every phrase as a sign of respect esp to the elderly. “Salamat po” basically means thank you with a sign of respect in saying that phrase to the one who is giving you service or to a person that needs to thank of. Like “Salamat po for visiting our country” hehhehe

Where you've been to in this episode, however: Pasay City (where you started, to the Mall of Asia), Taguig City (where BGC is), and anywhere else you'll find yourselves exploring outside of the actual City of Manila is a location you may call "Metro Manila," the term for the larger group of cities including the capital: City of Manila. "Metro Manila," quite an older reference, is technically, legally and formally kown as the National Capital Reion, or NCR.
