Excellent observation. The Baja 1000 is one very long race and speed is much more important because prerunning is allowed, in fact just about everything is allowed. Also, there are no engine changes in the 1000. And there is little or no factor support outside of one or two motorcycle companies doing very little. So the race is really filled with hundreds of privateers. And that is part of the 1000 real challenge. I see no real challenge of giant corporations like BMW spending millions...
