- one my Australian made lawn mowers i wanted to compare to RUclipsr Jon3800.s 1991 lawn boy lawn mower which was a key start model and this Australian made lawn mower has a pure Japanese qaulity engine mounted on the deck for ease of use and built solid to withstand abuse that most plastic lawn mowers are not able to handle these days and this one i think was made around the 1980s or 1987 or 1988 but yes a true built machine and this was filmed on the 9th of February 2015

Nice unit. I have the same and it works well, even in thick turf. Serviced every 2 years and the mower shop guys agree its a beauty. Only recent problem is that the bracket came loose failing on the handlebar where it attachs to the unit. Still works though.
What a beaut. Love to hand a 2 stroke rover like that.as soon as you started the mower I smiled. Never seen a stroke rover in this good of condition before. Guess they don’t make machines like this anymore.i might consider trying to find one like this
I loved this video, thanks Patrick!
Cheers mate and one of the best mowers made by Rover Mowers Australia etc.
great motor on these we had one got it in the late 1988 never miss a beat we stop using it about 3 years ago
These things start easy, choke , five pulls, throttle off a bit, brings revs back bit more while it warms
yes indeed and even the Toro,s with the Suzuki engines are a classic for sure in the USA (United States of America)
Easy the best push lawn mower I have ever owned & still going strong after owning it since the early 90's but my greenfield ride on is equally as good, both built tuff.
Hosh11 where are you cutting...
@@ronaldhickman9953 ??? 1/4 acre western suburbs Sydney if that's what you mean.
I have the same mower I prefer 2 strokes and being a Suzuki is pretty good. Sad they don’t make 2 strokes anymore.
Yep but not hard to get parts for it
I'm not a big fan of 2 stroke mowers but if I had one id prefer the suzuki to the victa junk mowers
@@dominoespizza1756 i love em 2 stroke mowers plus less parts to work around with and of course plenty of power too
@@Patrick4959where do u source from?
@@DinkyDiTruBlu you can easily find them online.
Great mowers
Suzuki 2-cycle engines were used on Toro walk-behind mowers in the 1980s and early '90s.
ClassicTVMan1981X yes by all views they were and made well back in those days
Sorry had to watch it again
was it your internet reception ?
how are these motors on fuel? comparable to the victa 2 stroke?
Not sure really however they are not guzzlers like some motors like the Victa 500 twin cylinder etc.
What years did they make these for?
i think in the late 1980s
My wife bought mine the year before we got married in 1990
@@garyreid9842 when your wife knows what a 2 stroke engine is you got yourself a keeper.
@@Patrick4959 Toro first used this engine (what they call the GTS120) starting in 1982 for the 1983 model year (model series 47PZ2), and only for '83 did the GTS120 have a points/condenser ignition. 1984 (47PD3) and later models had the common solid state (CDI) ignition.
@@ClassicTVMan1981X yep for sure and not wrong for sure plus you can also get parts from the still now days.
I am looking for a carby for my rover suzuki motor mower. Any ideas on where to get one?
ron smith normally ebay or mower shops will have them hope that helps you out mate
Thank you Patrick
Bit late but I have got some.
suzuki built them to motorbike standard to WORK HARD for many many years. lawnboy built them to LOOK FASHIONABLE and need throwing out within 18 months. -- DIMANTLE A LAWNBOY and be shocked at the FLIMSY CRAP CONROD & MAIN BEARINGS
yep they are a common problem but yeah luckily not hard to repair though.
Hi Patrick, Guessing you dont have a service manual (in electronic format)? Yours is in such great nick! Mine showing its age, but still performs well and dont wanna get rid of it just yet.
Matt M nope mate
Any 2 stroke engine should be idled for 3-4 minutes before running at high speed.....no smoke is a good mix Ballance for all 2 stroke engines....
i run my Rover at 50:1 according to my owners manual since brand new from the purchase date
These thing are designed such that they need to be started at WOT in order for the choke butterfly to be closed... They dont have a bulb primer and oftn are basically impossible to start with the choke open. So they more or less have to run flat out from startup.
@@schmoburger6086 No they don't, leave fuel on long enough to fill carby, full choke & five pulls of the cord, first cough pull back from choke, starts every time. Best thing is there cheap, not many people know how to start two strokes easy.
@@jimmydcricket5893 No you're wrong on this mower, I've had mine since new in 1990, no maintenance except air filter and blades, it starts the same as it did 34 years ago. Full throttle which is the choke position, obviously fuel turned on 3 pulls and it starts, there's no first cough and then back off the choke, my chainsaw and blower etc. are like that, but not this mower so i'm afraid if you did that, it will flood and then you have to wait around for a few minutes or pull the plug and get rid of the excess fuel.
@@Blade43 Tilt em forward for about 5 sec before trying usually that does the trick with my old rover 2 stroke and it then fires up on the first pull then with the choke on.
How many cc engine
No idea
121 cc
i think the suzuki is around 160cc i have 5 of them and plan on buying many more
