Hi Sue! Thanks for noticing the harmonies. I guess that's why the good Lord gave us 2 hands and 10 fingers, so we can carry the melody with a couple of fingers on the right hand while supporting the melodies with rich harmonies using the free fingers on the right hand (the ones not playing the melody) and all of the fingers on the left hand. I'm sure when you play the piano you use all of your fingers (not just basic 4-part-harmony-hymn-playing) in order to keep the harmonies sounding while pleasantly carrying the melody of the song! well here I am - Fort Collins Colorado - still raviging fires prevail all around my town which is 120 north of Denver Colorado. When National News reports on the fires they want everyone to believe the entire state is ablaze....no no. We are on fire for the Lord only - spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and listening to John as he plays the piano and we sing along. This is like a foretaste of Glory Divine - someday soon -- when we ALL get to heaven. In the meantime along with us here in the United States of America -- Play John Play that Piano (and continue to pray the professional firefighters get the numerous fires under control)

Great dinner music. My wife and I listened before she went to be with Jesus recently. So, I keep listening. I am a retired piano tuner and pastor, and I appreciate your piano because the electronic ones do not easily go out of tune. A piano out of tune is frustrating because I cannot avoid noticing if it is out. I used to have trouble as a pastor leading congregational singing if the piano went out due to temperature changes. I would have to work at not hearing it so I could sing. We are a weird bunch in that trade,

Pray with me for a huge dump of snow - we are forecasted to get only 13 inches for this coming weekend - the fire professionals are saying not enough to extinguish the flames. But "I Know Who Hold Tomorrow" and the song is resounding in my soul today - pray we get a season of heavy snow (it does not rain here in the midwest at this time of the year)

John, you may remember me, I've sent you emails before, and I have a lot of your music which I really enjoy. As I write this I am viewing your video of your piano hymns on You Tube. With this video, this is the first time I have ever heard your voice. I would have to make a real strong wager that if we were to sing together, most likely our voices would harmonize really good. Hi Dan! The piano sound is produced by the Virtual Piano "Ravenscroft 275" and the keyboard controller is the Yamaha P200 but any 88 key weighted controller would do. The key response curve is fully programmable in the ravenscroft control panel so that you can define the velocity curve that meets your expectations from ppp through fff. In the past I have used Kurzweil 1000 piano sounds, True Pianos, Kurzweil Micro-piano, Synthogy Ivory, to name a few. The Ravenscroft 275 for me sounds the most natural and feels more like an acoustic piano as I am playing it which is great because if the piano sound is a little off that can be distracting to the player. Good luck with your choices of a virtual piano, there are so many good ones! - I guess my 2nd fav. right now would be the Synthogy Ivory. Another awesome piano sound!

Hi Robert, what an excellent question! I have been playing digital pianos since they came out over 30 years ago. And I have been through many Brands over the years and each brand seems to have unique features that make the playing enjoyable. About 6 months ago I made another migration in the realm of virtual pianos this time I purchased the Ravenscroft 275 virtual Piano and I simply love it. The keyboard I am playing is the Yamaha p200 which has a good piano sound but not near as natural sounding as the Ravenscroft so I only use the Yamaha p200 as my controller keyboard so only electronic midi signals are generated by the p200 keyboard and go through a midi cable into a USB port on an i7 desktop computer that only has one job which is to create the audio in real time as I am playing the keyboard controller p200. There are plenty of demonstrations available on RUclips of scores of very good digital virtual instruments. So I suppose it is somewhat subjective and also the decision regarding a digital instrument like the Ravenscroft 275 or any of the other wonderful virtual pianos has to be chosen based on the kind of music that you will be playing and weather you will be playing alone or with other instruments and considering the type of music whether it be classical or church music or jazz music or rock and roll music Etc there are different virtual pianos that you might choose based on the style you most often play. So thank you so much for your question and best of luck as you audition various virtual instruments so as to expand your personal Studio capabilities.
