- Disney Infinity was a pretty big game during my childhood, and it's crazy to think it's about to be 10 years old! I haven't really check out Disney Infinity since I was a kid, so join me as I replay every game and give a retrospective as the series as a whole!

Lego dimensions. It did a lot of what Disney Infinity advertised but with a much much wider range of franchises, like Doctor Who, Portal, Teen Titans, Harry Potter, the Goonies and Lord of the Rings

I don't know how me and my sister could somehow afford almost every figure in the game (we weren't rich or anything)
I hope if they reboot Disney infinity they fix the issues by allowing crossovers in playsets and make the move-sets better
I would love if they combined them all together and updated some of the characters. But we can only dream :(

They're never going to reboot this.... Bob Igner was the one that killed it. As it wasn't profitable and they made way too many figures for 2.0 that even though 3.0 is doing better.... 1.0 is so popular they overproduced 2.0 and had way too many extra stock figures that ended up in Dollar tree. And then the problem with 3.0 was there wasn't enough retail space to go around for toys to life you had Skylanders you had amiibo You had Disney Infinity and unfortunately then Lego came in to play.... LEGO was a big reason Disney died because the toys to life space and pizza didn't get any bigger it just the slices got smaller for everyone. So the cut of Disney Infinity went down even though LEGO wasn't as popular it ate into all the toys to life and kind of killed them. Everything except amiibo because Nintendo people will Nintendo..
I’m getting so much nostalgia. I remember watching Blitzwinger play Monsters University on 1.0 and The8Bittheater play Spider-Man.

I do really love how the first game made all the characters with large games feel like they're still in said game. The incredibles feel like the gamecube game, the cars feel like the Cars 2 video game, and the toys feel like Toy Story 3 and even have the same balls from toy box mode.
That is true, they all have very different playstyles to them, just all going for the same mission based structure

@@DonnaJerri I understand the feeling we had to move because of a flood so I lost a vast majority of dvds and shows I had that were exclusive and blue ray sets from the states.

Playing the Pirates and Lone Ranger stories in 1.0 is seriously some of the most fun I have had gaming. Plenty of features that make each one different, it is almost a completely new game every time. Riding around on the train you build or the ship you create never gets old
I would argue 2.0 improved the playsets in every way. The worlds were much more expansive and the missions were much more fun and exciting. Yeah it completely sucks that you can't use any character, but the scope of the maps and the entire campaigns were light years ahead of 1.0's. I found the Marvel campaigns to be so much fun. My favorite parts were the bits outside the main map, like the Oscorp Labs or the Sewers in the Spider Man playset, or the AIM Base and the Frozen Harbor in the Avengers set. With the better movesets, the missions were more fun imo.
Another thing is that they seemed to improve character movesets and movement with every game. The 1.0 characters have pathetic movesets, with one basic ranged attack and basic melee attack, sometimes not even a real one. The 2.0 characters have proper skill trees and upgrades, and much more diversified movesets, and then 3.0 brought even better combat mechanics like launchers and air combos, and character specific moves like Jedi being able to use the Force to draw enemies closer or push them away. An interesting thing I noticed is that in 3.0, pausing for a split second in a combo and then resuming leads to a different attack sting and finisher. This seems like a 3.0 exclusive, but you can actually sort of do this with 2.0 characters as well. In 3.0 there's a visual cue for when the attack string can be varied, and waiting the split second before continuing the combo changes it up. 2.0 Characters can sort of do this too, though they don't have a visual cue. For example, Iron Man's finishing hit in his attack string is using the iconic Unibeam. It's quite powerful, but it requires building up to it with the basic attack string first. But I've found that if you wait a split second after the first attack in the string, then attack again, he immediately uses the Unibeam. It's neat that the feature was kind of built in before they really fleshed it out with the 3.0 characters.
Also yeah 3.0 was so much bigger and better in every way.
Finally, SO many people sleep on the Toy Box Mode. Everyone writes it off as lame or boring. For a while I was the same way, just placing enemies to fight until that got old. The worst part is that the game doesn't do a good job at telling you what things do and how they work. After fooling around with Creativitoys (as the game calls them) for hours and figuring out what each of them does and what they CAN do when used properly, it's actually insane. Everyone dismisses the Toy Box because it's confusing, and it totally is at first don't get me wrong, but once you realize that the "Creativitoys" are actually just dev tools optimized for ease of use in the game, the Toy Box really opens up. I used to spend hours making whole games and worlds in the Toy Box using those tools, and many people more talented with them than me made some really impressive stuff. I remember a Toy Box level my brother and I downloaded. It was a whole ass adventure game with it's own whole little open world mountain town with a day and night cycle, and specific items needed to progress into certain areas hidden in other areas. Enemies would dynamically spawn, some items were only available to collect at Night, the whole nine yards. It was super impressive. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Many people would (quite accurately) recreate popular Disneyland Rides or Locations, or make entirely original mini games, like a Star Wars themed Soccer Game or an adventure with branching paths in the story depending on the choices you make. Inspired by this, I was attempting to make my own Zelda Game in the Toy Box, but unfortunately they shut down the online service for 3.0 before I ever finished it. I made plenty of race tracks though. Sometimes I still go back to race on some of the crazier ones I made every now and then.
TLDR: The amount of things you could do in the Toy Box was mind blowing. It's a shame more people didn't understand the Toy Box's mechanics and how the game straight up gave the player Dev Tools. and all in all 3.0 was genuinely a great game where 1.0 and 2.0 seemed to scrape by. Sorry for the wall of text lol. Excellent video.
I was much more into Skylanders than I was into Disney Infinity. I did enjoy the Marvel Disney Infinity and the Star Wars Disney Infinity, but that's about it. I wish they would've allowed you to crossover characters into each playset instead of being limited. Imagine playing as Iron Man in Disney Infinity's Star Wars Playsets.
Brooo the Nostalgia I loved this game, growing up I remember watching ppl play 1.0, 2.0 & 3.0 I remember my yt page being full of unboxings of the power discs, then i got 3.0 and i remember loving it, wish they would re release it on console with every character unlocked!
This video was amazing to watch! I played 1.0 and 2.0 when I was younger and I just recently got 3.0!! Collecting the characters nowadays is a lot more of a hassle, but the joys of playing the game are still there!

It's crazy how instead of having Spider-Man in the Avengers New York you have Nova, you know, the character from the Spider-Man roster that actually goes to space and has joined the Guardians of the Galaxy?
This series just makes me sad because of the missed potential and the stuff we never got due to Disney shutting it down, that moana pack looked stellar

It's so annoying the game got cancelled ill never forget the day I found out that 4.0 got cancelled they ruined the magic for me

My favorite memory of Disney infinity was having fights with my dad in toy box and picking each other up and throwing them off the edge. My favorite character was venom

One thing that wasn't mentioned about 3.0 was there was an exclusive d23 Mickey with his kingdom hearts outfit and if you got all characters you got the key blade from kingdom hearts as well because they were going to add a bunch of them in 4.0
In case people aren’t in the know, there was also a 3DS version of the first Disney Infinity. I still have my copy and it was basically a dumbed down version of Mario Party,
I still play it every now and then even though I can just play Mario Party on my Switch 😏
I honestly have so much nostalgia for these games. I remember back in 2013 when a friend of mine got Disney infinity for his Xbox 360 and I really wanted to play it but my parents weren't willing to buy me a new game for £65 that close to Christmas. I remember waking up on Christmas day and finding out that they'd got me Disney infinity 1 on the Wii. I liked toy box but with my next Youngest sibling being 9 years older than me I spent more time in the play sets. For the next two years I always got the new Disney infinity and a couple of figures for Christmas. When I was younger, 2.0 was my favourite because at that time I was so in love with super heroes coming after avengers 1 and captain America 2 but now looking back I'd definitely say 3.0 was my favourite. Great series of games. Have so much love and nostalgia for them

I’ll be honest with you… I only bought stuff for Disney Infinity for the figures. They were very high quality figures so they were worth it in my opinion.
They are really high quality figures! A lot of people did that with Lego Dimensions as well, so they can get figures based on Portal or Adventure time!
disney infinity OG here, i remember my parents buying me and my sisters the wii u version of 1.0 in 2013, and played every game since, even the obscure iOS and PC ports. managed to collect all of the figures except the silver ones, and the unreleased ones like peter pan. games give me a TON of nostalgia and the fact that it turns 10 this year makes me feel old.
(and about the PC port for 3.0, i recommend the console version since playsets and figures are missing and disney never bothered to update the game. they've been added back thanks to modding though!)
Disney infinity had and still has so much potential. I loved playing all of them, 3.0 was my personal favourite.

I use to play with my dad, on the 3rd game with star wars!! and i loved throwing him off the world in the toy box too.
I remember my dad came home with hundreds of booster packs bc my toys r us every once in a while would sell either each for a dollar or 2 for a dollar

I've never heard of Disney Infinity before in my life. I came here after searching for it because I recently bought three Frozen figurines that had this "Infinity" label slapped on to them. Now I understand why I was able to buy these nice figurines dirt cheap! 😀 I don't think I ever would have cared for this Infinity stuff but I'm somewhat glad it failed because I am a huge Frozen fan and now added some nice figurines to my collection for just a few bucks!
I am so angry that Disney killed this! Me and my sisters loved it so much! Bring it back!
I remember I got a Crystal Lightning McQueen and I LOVED it. The closest Toys R Us was 2 hours way so I rarely went there and was surprised to get it. The coolest thing about the crystal figures was that they'd glow because of the lights underneath the base, it was so awesome!
I remember the Christmas that 3.0 came out. My dad's girlfriend gave me the Force Awakens playset before the starter pack and I was so confused and said something like we don't have this game and my dad said something like damn really thought we did them I opened the starter pack. Every other week if my grades were good I could get a new character and I still have all of them in a box in the basement it was such a key thing to me in middle school and helped me through rough times. They even tricked my ass into wanting to get the cool re release figures with lightsabers that would glow when they were on the portal and most of my time was spent playing with the my interior mode making rooms for all my favorite characters I owned and also playing other people's worlds. It was such a great time maybe one day I should go back and try it the huge marvel and star wars fan in me when I was younger loved every single bit of it but one day I just kinda lost interest and never realized I haven't gone back to it since I was in middle school and now I'm in my freshman year of college and every now and then I think back now pissed my dad was when shortly after he got me the game a cancelation for the game was announced
the one thing that sucks about the gold edition for 3.0 is Finding Dory playset or Marvel playset also Ant-Man or Baloo or Alice or Mad Hatter is all missing from the pc version never got patched in and was exclusive to console i know this was mentioned in the video but we can only hope one day they just decide to return to it for a brief second to patch it in

I remember when this came out and my wife and I would only buy the figures that we wanted to play as, since it was getting really expensive to buy everything. As much as it sucked that they discontinued the series, it ended up having the silver lining in that all figures were practically being given away. So I was able to get a mostly 100 collection of the figures, something I’m pretty proud of.
This whole video took me back from not only the game itself but also the all the footage of youtubers that I completely forgot that I used to watch and the bit about the 2.0 add made me cackle great videos I binged your whole channel today and I immediately subscribed looking forward to what you come out with next

Disney should make a brand new open world crossover game. It would be cool to see them add way more characters. Lately, they seem to be interested in releasing video games on consoles again. We have Disney Dreamlight Valley, Disney Speedstorm, and Disney Illusion Island. There's no telling what's next with them. I would even play a Disney platform fighter. I'm excited to play Speedstorm since I love kart racing games. Illusion Island looks interesting. I'll probably play that.
I feel like the most annoying thing about all 3 versions is the fact that you can't play the older playsets. I got the steam 3.0 a year ago and was heavily disappointed because as well as not being able to play the other toy sets I didn't have any of the older characters (at least on PC, not sure if the real toys were crossplay). At least having a PC Version with everything after the fact would make sense, however that probably didn't happen because of the disney interactive closer, in fact because of this it makes many of the Disney titles on steam riddled with bugs due to playing on current operating systems, I can't even play Cars which sucks because that way my favorate game ever as a child
Oh my god, me and my brother loved these games, we had 1.0 (Wii & Xbox360) 2.0 & 3.0 both for WiiU, we had so many characters like a whole tub full 😂 Me and my brother played the Marvel play set from 2.0 but the house building thing in the toy box was my favorite for some reason 😂😂
I played 1.0 and 2.0 when I was a kid. I absolutely loved it and put so much hours into it. It was the best game ever at that age hahaha. Playing as all my favourite character's and having them team up together was so fun. I do hope this comes back because I think kids today would definitely be happy with the game like I was. I think these type of games aren't a thing anymore and it's sad.

Heyo. Someone who grew up on this game here, THERE WAS A STEAM VERSION WITH ALL THE CHARACTERS FOR FREE!?!! Your telling me I spent over 200& I could have spent buying Pokémon cars but I spent it on expensive figures instead!? My life was a lie… at least I got a sick inside joke with my sister about Thor out of it though

I remember seeing this and was excited to see my favorite characters from Disney crossover in a story to save the multiverse only to find out that you couldn’t crossover any characters unless it was in toy-box mode and there was no story to the game I was really disappointed by that

@@CamReviews yeah it’s like they had a opportunity to do a massive crossover game before Lego dimensions came out and they didn’t do it and I didn’t know that a 4.0 was planned before they stopped production on the game

It’s cool they also made finding dory and marvel battlegrounds play sets! Dory was good and the marvel battle grounds is one of my fav to play with other people
I remember getting the ps4 star wars bundle of 3.0 (had the og trilogy plus clone wars sets w/characters, and a boba fett) and fett was so cool, man could fly and it was amazing lol
All I remember from that game was that every now and again they would play 7 years old or whatever that songs called, and I liked it. That’s it, overall a pretty underwhelming game. I barely remember it.

I miss this game franchise so much. I recently started replaying Disney Infinity 3.0 and it hurts how much content is locked behind an infinity account that I can no longer make. Aside from that, the game was an insane part of my childhood, and I’ll cherish it forever.
I only with they make a cross save to keep the progress between the 3 versions on steam. Maybe one day they come back with DI4

One thing i love Disney Infinity is the design of the character. I always found then unique and more recognizable than the original,the story itself pretty interesting. I always think Disney Infinity done pretty well when it comes Toys to life. (Except the price for everything tho, cuz' yikes). If Disney Infinity did return for the 4.0,wish the game more like finish this place and you get a new character and stuff. And have an update for a new character,world,and story.

I had a lot of fun playing 3.0, it was in fact the only one I bought, I was in love with playsets (I had inside out too) AND toybox! But yeah I don't think I would have fun playing it nowdays
The fact that you CAN'T play with any toy in any playset is so bizarre. It feels so sterile and corporate, like they didn't realize that kids love crossing over their toys. For goodness sake, that's what Toy Story is all about!

Hey I know you only do retro reviews. But I know your love of Disney infinity is probably as big as mine. Would you review Disney Speedstorm? It’s nostalgia and design reminds me of Disney infinity so much. So I feel like it would be interesting to see your reaction and review of a game that has flavors of a game you loved.
I really enjoyed the Disney Infinity 1.0 and had the same feeling that Pirates and Lone Ranger were the best. I purchased the 1.0 set a couple of years ago during the COVID lockdown for my Son and he loves it now that he's in 2nd grade. Although he likes the 3.0 and 2.0 playsets the most. Thanks for this recap. I also got the PC version for my Son to save money on characters. How do you unlock all of them for the PC version (would appreciate any tips). Thank you
Glad you two can enjoy the game together! :) If you buy the game on steam you should automatically unlock every character. Only issue with the pc version is there no multiplayer at all, not even split screen. But it's on sale quite a bit and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to play disney infinity in 2023

I liked the concept, so I bought all 3 of the games in a bundle on Steam.
I mainly muck about with the Tron skybox and textures simply because it has one of the songs from the Tron Legacy film done by Daft Punk.
Film is average, but I love the Daft Punk soundtrack.
If your favorite is Lego Dimensions, hard agree. I'm disappointed they never did what Disney did for the steam version of this

So I've actually been considering buying a Disney infinity game for a while. I was a skylanders guy and never got into Disney sadly. But this was thinking of buying a bulk of figures and so that I get the full experience if I get one it will be 3.0 thanks for this information it really helps

If you campare the Price of 1 figure (13$) with the Price of 1 fortnite skin (~15 $ depending on rarity), it's literally worth it! For cheaper you can get a figurine of your character/skin

Disney infinity 3.0 was so goated i used yo always play it. Mostly because all the figures work on it... I think. Also i never even knew their was any rumors or anything about disney infinity 4.0
I wanted to play this game so much as a child. I know how to get it now but I have no money. Oh and when you talk about how some missions are the same or just boring, you have to understand this game was made for little kids with big imaginations.

I know you will not see this comment, but I am really glad I found your channel. This video makes me want to purchase Disney Infinity 3.0. Sadly, that was the only Toys-to-Life game that I never got to experience. My parents bought me a couple of generations of Skylanders (Giants and Trap Team) and I got to experience the joy that was LEGO Dimensions. I always wanted these games so bad as a kid, and that want only grew when I found out the newest one was going to have Star Wars characters.
Since, I was never able to own it, I watched Blitzwinger play the Inside Out playset. Sadly, never got to experience the Star Wars part of it.
Yeh, as a kid I didn’t really get many Disney infinity or Lego dimension figures. That’s why I mainly played the mobile version of that game because they were really cheap on there!

2.0 not having all marvel characters crossover with each other was dumb but even with the restrictions not having spider man and nick fury as the crossovers for avengers was really weird

8:29 I think that’s what really soured me to the game and made me not want to buy it. The main advertised mode was the play sets and not getting to mix and match while in the worlds like in the later made Lego Dimensions, really killed all the excitement of having Rapunzel meet Mr Incredible and Obi wan kenobi

I could never find the appeal of collecting these things, same problem with the amiibo. The figurines aren't articulated, they're just mini statues.
