Hi Red, love your videos! I’m restoring a 67 Corona RT40. We decided to convert it to an EV (Electric Vehicle) all body work is complete, and I’ve just got it back from the trimmers, she smells like a new car 😂
Yesterday I installed an old school rear venetian blind, now I’m working my way through all the chrome, and will start to put that all on this week.
The original 3sp manual (column shift) had been connected to the new electric motor, and we’ll be putting that back in the car in the next few weeks.
I’m so excited to find your channel, especially this Corona restoration you’re doing 😊

I have one. My father bought it in 1966. It still runs and it is in original condition, approved as a classic car in Finland in 1992.

Dad had a one owner 1967 or earlier with low mileage, round tail light reflector like the one of Nicholes back in 76/77 , taught me to drive the four on the column when I was 9 .
Was pestered to sell it , and bought a 1969 square reflector , slatted grille 4 on the floor, last of the RT40 model in 78. I think the year in between had a sort of diamond shape to the reflector, nice old models . Used to spin the wheels pretty well 😁.

That’s an awesome little car, not to rusty and starts like it was never parked! Mate had one when we were 15 and we would fang it around his dads concrete yard on weekends crashing into all kinds of stuff, pissed his dad off no end!

Awesome! I had one a while ago, Hmm, 30 years ago! I put a 13B then FJ20 in it.. Yep, the RT81 stub axles and discs bolt on, but you can go one step further and put RX7 S2 discs and callipers on it if you machine a millimetre off the stub axle, and mix and match the bearings. Also, an Alfa 105 diff is the same width and will both in with RT104 shackles. Go for a 4AGE or 18RG. Not surprised it started first go!

Corona is a good score mate, its better than half the XY fords and FC to HT Holdens ive done, they usually have holes in the spring hanger areas and floor pans

Mates son inherited one like the second one you showed from his grandfather. Real tidy apparently, being a young fulla he decided a bit of practice for the WRC victory that he could see in his destiny was in order. This was abruptly interrupted by a bank that inconveniently positioned itself in front of his future career prospects, and grandads mint Corona was no more.
Off to the wrecker it went where he received $400 back in the day, (nineties?) complaining at the injustice of the return on his virtual zero dollar investment, because being under twenty he would have only put ten quid in the tank, the wrecker pointed out they only ever sold the the front end panels generally which he had stuffed. He took his $400 and so ended his WRC career.
