Just saying, I love this ICE vs Electric era of World RX because I love both combustion and electric vehicle. Also the racing is good. They're just lacking number of cars in the main class. Hope they could find solution about it.
One thing that I learned from the World RX at Montalegre is the electric cars are so fast off the line (at the start) and on the straight line. But the ICE is better on corners. As you can see on that video.
Here in the U.S., I've never even heard of Rallycross racing, but man, what's not to like - dirt/pavement combination, twisty road course, fast bumper to bumper racing action and the EV/ICE rivalry. WOW!
You've never heard of rallycross??? I'm in the US too, and I've watched all kinds of rallycross racing, so you not know Ken Block, Travis Pastrana, Tanner Foust, Brian Deegan, Scott Speed??? Maybe not all of them but you've had to of heard of some of them lol all US rallycross drivers
Why so serious? I just wanna see a yellow RS200 Evo with 800bhp battling with a homebrew vw/subaru beetle, meanwhile some bloke in a v6 Rover metro flailing around in a battle with a clapped out quattro😂❤
The basic question for me is: Where does motorsport come from and where does it want to go? The original idea was to test technological progress in competition before transferring it to series production. Today it's all about entertainment and noise.
I think different series should focus on different things. F1/FE can push the boundaries of tech and other series can be entertaining. I wish there was a modern vintage race car series because the low speed drift fests at Goodwood are incredible. I feel bad because a lot of those cars aren't replaceable.
I hope this is a turning point for WRX. it was so hype and fun to watch prior to the pandemic and the introduction of the EV only regs. Just get more entries and make it more accessible online and they're golden.
a horse is a living and breathing being, riding one is incomparable to driving a car. EVs are soulless machines that lack passion, incomparable to driving an internal combustion engine powered car. its not about "beating" one another, but you wouldn't get it.
@@oersza Exactly, riding a horse is incomparable to a car. And driving an EV is incomparable to driving an ICE car. Whats the tq in either option , , does she not know how battery's are charged globally , did they not read the open letters from CEO of electric car companies
As battery technology improves; the energy density of the batteries is increasing. This could result in smaller/ lighter batteries being used by the EV Rallycross cars, would lead ballast be added for parity? Do RX rules allow the use of hydrogen? Hydrogen could be used as a) Lower purity fuel hydrogen combustion engine with very low combustion emissions directly connected to a mechanical drivetrain (see AVL 2 litre hydrogen engines). b) A small hydrogen combustion engine (Nissan Digi T-R size) could power a generator and allow a smaller battery with an electric motor drivetrain.(Audi Dakar Rally hybrid type powertrain) c) High purity Hydrogen fuel cell RX car with a small battery coupled with advanced ultra capacitors & electric power train (similar to what the new Extreme-H Pioneer 25 off-road car is)
If the races are 3 minutes the minimum battery size would need to average 20c. A quick google tells me the batteries are around 50kWh, and 680 bhp is about 500Kw, so full power would only be 10c - and they can't be at full power all the time, so the average must be significantly lower. I've seen another stat that says they recharge at 50kW in 25 minutes, which also implies they use less than half the battery in a race.
What's not stated is that batteries are going to get lighter and that the 'traditional' fans have Stockholm Syndrome, equating earsplitting sound and noxious odors with performance because that used to be the way to achieve them. Alternative fuels are a nostalgia play and as the geezers pass away, new fans will be wondering why they have to be subjected to abuse of their noses, throats and ears.
I wouldn't consider myself a geezer. And I think EV Racing is boring to watch. Even if the cars would be faster. Which is not the case in Rallycross right now. The Championship leader drives ICE.
@@Franko384 Treatment for Stockholm Syndrome focuses on addressing the psychological trauma experienced by victims. Psychotherapy, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed approaches, helps individuals recognize and challenge distorted thoughts or emotions toward their captors. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is another therapy used to reprocess traumatic memories. Counseling, both individual and group-based, provides emotional support and a safe space for healing. In some cases, antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications may be prescribed to manage symptoms like depression or anxiety. Psychoeducation helps individuals understand their condition, reducing feelings of guilt or shame, while building a strong support network of family and friends aids in recovery. Long-term monitoring through regular check-ins with mental health professionals ensures continued progress and emotional well-being. With appropriate care, individuals can overcome the effects of Stockholm Syndrome and regain control over their lives.
Just imagine going to a Metallica concert and they turn off the overdrive the entire show. Autosports is also a show and as it, should includes everything it has to offer other than competition itself. The noise, the gasoline smell, tire burning, engine high rev and antilag are all part of the show. Racing cars are not part of our everyday, they don't have any impact on our everyday lives. They are something we go see with family and friends on the weekend, once a month or once a year. There is no need to move to electric, no one asked for this, there is no need to change a successful formula. If racing moves to electric there won't be any fans, because nobody will be interested in watching rich kids racing in cycles.
Have you ever been to a race track in person? The smells and the sounds elevate the experience to another level. Without that there's no reason to go to the track as you'll get a better experience watching on TV.
👌👏👏👏....absolutely brilliant!!!... let's hear the popping / banging of those high-performance engines on the anti lag!!!!..💥💥. about bloody time!!!... yes, electric is quick, but they are so quiet boring!!😴😴😴......thanks world rallycross!!👍👌😎
"I prefer the electric car because of the environment". I really dont know if she had to say that or if she really thinks like that... Because if she does, she would also have to be aggainst racing ^^' Of course, EVs have the potential to help us with our emissions and it simply is the better technology (there's a reason why back in the days the first vehicles were tried to be built electric) but this generalized approach of her is pretty stupid.
Anyone who has actual experience with Life Cycle Assessments knows that these EVs are not more sustainable… Doesn’t really matter though because travel is the biggest impact anyway…
I have experience with LCAs and I would say that EVs are more sustainable than ICE cars, once you go above a certain annual mileage. The EVs typically have more carbon cost to manufacture but then produce much less carbon during the use phase. So beyond a small threshold of annual mileage, the EV is more sustainable. Both have a similar lifetime. Both are very recyclable at the end of life

Agree with you.
Just give it a few years, the EV car will get lighter, then it’ll be superior in all performance metrics.

This is prob the best way to go about motorsport with electric cars have them prove thier worth
It's awesome having both powertrains in the same series. Kind of breaks the regulations tedium a bit.

The fastest car on the grid is easily the ICE VW Polo, then the EVS. Those cars are just mind numbingly fast.
If the Batteries weight's dont create issues, i bet that the Torque from electric Motors could revolutionize Rally's!
Very likely the engineers only build enough battery capacity for the courses they'll compete in.
Epic
reminds me of RC when lipo cars came , slow at first against nitro , then lipo crushing nitro as the tech got better , same thing here
