10:07 I have one notebook, and sectioned it into 3 chapters, if you want to call it that. I used the first 20 pages for 'thoughts/ideas', some pages in the middle of the note book for 'tasks', and the last few ones for 'quotes'. I didn't really want to carry three separate notebooks around, so it really helped me to do it that way. Also, I sticked the little sticky notes onto the first page of every section, so I would have quicker acces to them
Loved the video by the way ^^
Try a pocket sized traveller's notebook. Still slim and small but lets you section and compartmentalise better than a single notebook would do.
@@laurameszaros9547 Any recommendations? I would like to find one that isn't too bulky but I don't know which one.
How do you setup each section ? Do you label a section by the day and date ? Hope that made sense ?
@dantilton2060 depends on the section. In the first section, I just scribble everything everywhere. In the Task-section, I always put a new headline over the tasks, consisting of the date, whether it's a school day or not, and the time I wake up, then write all my tasks for that day underneath. And the quotes section is the same as the first one
@@zoeoe_00 thanks ! I have used pocket notebooks for years but so disorganized and all over the place . I will subdivide it up and give it a try!
I started journaling less than a month ago, the biggest difference is no distractions from the phone. Several side benefits include penmanship, clearer thinking, and easier to refer back to a thought. So yes I echo many of your ideas. Just an FYI I am 76 years old. But have used computers from the early 70s.
I don't usually leave comments on youtube but I HAVE to tell how great your content is and im glad I found your channel. Motivated me so well to use my phone less and now im trying this new notepad thing too for a while, just trying to see how it goes. Thank youuu a lot😇
so glad to hear that! im glad i can help
5his is how i feel abt him too !
Hey man, how's the notebook been treating you? I started using notes on my phone not too long ago and it really improved my productivity, but it being the phone itself has natural drawbacks. I have an old phone I'm thinking of using to download podcasts/audiobooks, so i don't need to use my actual phone for general day to day music stuff while I'm at work, and honestly never thought of using a physical notebook until this video.
I'm curious how it's been treating you 🫠
OMG he's left handed yall! We gotta trust him!
It’s rare to see lefties, I’m one my self and people think it’s impossible 😭
@@GoldwithelocsIts not rare anymore. I see left handed people ALL the time everyday. There is nothing special about being left handed. It just is what it is. It is the hand you started using and the one you learned with.
I'm left-handed but it still weirds me out when lefties write "over the top" with their hand curled all weird. 😂
@@jebaker2 Lol, my dad does that. My uncle turns the whole page sideways and writes downwards.
@@Goldwithelocs Its really not. Many people decades ago were forced to write with their right hand even if they preferred the left proving that you can learn it and bypass any trait. Im right handed and taught myself to write left hand when I was in 11th grade. Its nothing special. It just is what it is. Ive never really understood why people romanticize the idea of left handedness.
When I have a notebook, or even just a folded sheet of paper to write stuff down I actually have the thought at the end of the day when I’m emptying my pockets, “ wait, I wrote something down earlier.” I never have that thought when taking notes on my phone.
I have several old small notebooks lurking in my bedroom since primary school and this video motivated me to use them.
Your speaking is improving and becoming more vibrant. I'll keep following.
You have a good relaxing , easy to listen to voice....
Good points you make about the benefits of a notebook
8:46 ..Looking forward to your EDC Notebook KIT !!
remember seeing you just a few weeks ago with less that 1k subs giving out beautiful information. so glad to see you getting the love you deserve. Keep going brother. You will do big things.
Hey man I just wanted to thank you for your videos you inspired me to start my RUclips channel and to finally quit social media I only have TikTok but I restricted a time limit to 20 minutes so I can upload and my screen time went down a bunch. Keep making these videos you truly inspiring a generation on young people like us to make something with our lives and get away from the distractions of this world. Keep it up!
So happy that you found using a notebook. The reason it works is, as you know, when you write things down you remember. It just is like that for everyone.
Consistently putting out bangers. Would love to see an edc vid. Keep it up.
Keep going bro…. Ima see you at the top, we are FREEing ourselves 🙏🏽
Pocket notebooks are so underrated! I’m now starting to use a planner I’m so excited
An idea for how to carry your pen - the Travelers Notebook site has the elastic bands they use around their notebooks for sale. I've seen other videos of people in your situation re: the pen and that's one thing I've seen to resolve that. Place the band around your notebook horizontally, then place the pen on the side between the book and the elastic. Seems to hold them well. I MUCH prefer analog than digital when it comes to taking notes. I was writing notes on random pieces of paper (envelopes, the back of a bank deposit slip, sales tickets, etc.) then they'd stay in my purse awhile until I purged my purse, thus losing whatever was on those notes. Gah! A notebook where anything I write is in one place works much better for me than floating paper and is what initially sold me on Bullet Journals. Now I have journals and notebooks for all kinds of things but a small notebook for my purse is a must!
All of us rediscovering that a notebook was better in the first place and going back to it 🤓
Treat yourself and get a Lochby pocket notebook cover (the smaller one that fits the Field Journal you were using). You can fit a pen in the front pocket, it zips up, you can put a few cards in it….an EDC.
You gotta use Pilot 0.5 and 0.7 pens. I'm a lefty too. They have great flow and write well small
As someone who is AuDHd, I find analog works for me. I want to get back into building a second brain, now that I have finished my thesis. However, like you if I try to remember to put a reminder or note into my phone, I am lost to the other dopamine hits I can get from the device. I am also time blind, I have no real clue how long some tasks will take me. So, I just plan blocks of time to do things. Like morning routine, and I have done task stacking with these should take me 30 minutes, or 1 hour every other or every 3rd day. Atomic Habits is a great book, I have started to think more of using habits and Clears advice in building and working toward my goals. Thanks for the great video, I am a new subscriber.
Excellent! Thank you, I needed that.
It’s very refreshing to hear you talk about actually writing ☺️. Putting pen to paper. It is still a powerful skill to continue to embrace. Thank you.
The to-do lists have been carrying my days hands downs 🙌🏾
At a certain time in my life having a notebook was the only way to record/remember things. Although I have been using computers for about 30 years now I struggle to make the adjustment. There are many things to appreciate about technology but I appreciate the fact that you feel the same way I do about writing stuff down and having a notebook. I find it interesting how we have "evolved" and don't require students to physically write anymore. My son barely knows how to sign his name. WEIRD. You're an interesting young man and I enjoyed your content. Thank you!
Do you mean they don't have to write in cursive, or they don't even have to print either?
recently discovered your channel and love the authenticity and vibe of your videos, keep it up brodie.
Lefty’s unite!!! I’ve been using a 64 page soft cover moleskin for quite a while now. I usually divide the book into three sections - To do list, Thoughts/Ideas, Things to remember. I like the thickness of it and how it’s able to fit in my right back pocket. I also carry a left handed bolt action pen from tactile turn. It’s expensive but it’s one and done! Never buying another pen again this writes like a dream.
Hey man, great video. Don't know how old you are, you look way young, but you really are going places.
Consider researching travelers notebooks. Not only are they super sexy, you can have 3-4 notebook inserts for different categories in one. They have different sizes, but i carry the a7, or, pocket sized (field notes). Having ADHD, i carry mine everyday, it’s my second brain, notion is my third brain. Congrats on unlocking the power of the pen!
deserve more subscribers, views, likes and comments so underrated.
I really liked this video. I have watched a number of videos where people say they have been carrying around a pocket notebook, so I got one for myself and a carrying case from Etsy that really looks nice. I'm glad I listened!
You should really do a video on the people you watch / listen to ! I’d love suggestions:)
I think my go-to would be Moleskine or Leuchtturm. I am a huge planner nerd and also enjoy art. I also saw that you can buy pen loops that you stick into the back of any notebook.
Side note: I’ve seen people rave about Pen + Gear, and those of course are very affordable
Great videos! Im a 41yr old South African Counsellor living in New Zealand. Keep it ip - great advice delivered in a simple way.
been using pocket notebooks since this month started but i didn't know how to organize everything i want in the notebooks so i have separate ones for different fields + added a table of contents in them and # the pages. Writing something down over typing feels way better even though i disliked writing in school. Can't tell you how many times ive been out of it, just for me to take a glance through my notebook and get right back to action! way too many quotes lmao. also construct that edc video take yuh time ❤love the vibes man!
completely agree man, shits so helpful, been writing to do list the night before, then journaling what happened in the day. works so well
about to start 🙌🏾
Seen your first video! Wow! You have improved a great deal! Keep it up!
Ah! I see a Traveler's Notebook in your future...the Passport size. So portable and handy!
Thank you, Abraham!
welcome!
Really helpful video. I like that you show how you use your notebook. Thanks!
Where has RUclips been hiding this guy? I can't believe this is the first video of his ive seen. Subscribed! ✅
I think a traveller's notebook might come in handy. I'm planning to do just that. Thank you for this great video!
I really like to carry my pocket book every where to write notes, thoughts, feelings and ideas.
Great info. Glad I am not alone struggling to track this on a phone. Thanks for sharing!
Hi! I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos, keep going!
I liked using small notebooks for writing down ideas, notes, and reminders for myself. Thanks for the video.
You're life changing man keep it up
Stacking habits is a great idea and I am going to start. In one of your other videos you talked about The War of Art briefly and I would like to hear more about it!
I convinced myself I needed a new iPhone bc of all of the writing I was going to do on notes.
I have spend the last months decorating that ¨stoopid¨ phone and doing no writing
I used to disregard pocket size notebooks thinking "who needs that?", now I know!
BABE WKAE UP ABE POSTED
YO
It’s New Year’s Eve… a few short hours until 2024, and I spot this in your video.
“Everyone wants to eat, yet few are willing to hunt”
Instantly becomes quote of the year.
If that doesn’t perfectly sum up what’s going on with so many things right now… I don’t know what does.
hey man, thomson from the call last week. fr appreciate u for putting me on, been using a notebook to journal/write routines/organise myself ever since i first saw ur stuff. preciate ur work fr.
ayeeee what’s good man, how was the game?
glad i could put you onto the notebook stuff man.
I've been using a Midori A6 size pocket notebook with grid ruled paper. I enjoy it!
amazing video definitely getting a pocket journal
Thank you so much for the content, ideas. You have a great, calming voice.
Fully agree ..... Better to use pocket diary than smartphones.... All should watch this video
thank you so much for the advice!
As a fellow lefty, I feel your smudgey pain! I usually have to put something under my hand, acting as a blotter.
Good on you for discipline and organization! My penmanship has deteriorated due to a broken wrist and the internet browsing. (Am a leftie also).
i use the small moleskin notebooks for a year now and it’s convenient they come in packs of 3 and have a lil pocket inside for loose paper or smth. i get the brown one so i draw on the cover to personalize it lmao
also an edc vid would be so clutch 🙏🏻
Always good videos, thanks.
There are companies that sell these pen loops that you would be able to attach to your notebook, and they are stretchy so that they would be able to accommodate to various sizes of pens. Or I've seen people sacrifice a page in the notebook and fashion a loop out of tape, I've also clipped the pen in my front pocket and placed the notebook in my back pocket so that way if I need a pen when signing something so that way I dont have to guess if the pen at the register works or not. Thanks for the content :)
Excellent video. Thank you for the practical and life changing advice.
Beyond using a notebook, turn off notifications on all apps that don’t matter. I choose to check everything manually once or twice a day.
I've just done just that - I needed to make a TODO for later. It took me about 2-3 minutes to copy-paste the needed information and to organize the note.
Pilot G-2 07 in red is my on the go choice for a pen. Thank you for your excellent talk.
Great job man. This is a really great video. Keep making more!
I have about 200+ pens. You might really enjoy a Uni-ball Jetstream 0.7mm pen. It is a rollerball pen with ink specifically made to dry quickly, which is good for left-handed users. The ink flows smoother than a cheap ballpoint, and the lines are sharper and faster-drying than a typical gel pen like a Pilot G2.
I enjoyed your thought process. Recently I was in the same boat and now experimenting with a notepad with zipper in the size you use. On one side my notebook is tucked in and the other side has 5 loops for pens, pencils, etc. I like that I can throw it in a bag and nothing falls out.
Thank you 🙏 I love your quotes. One of the best one I like is 'Greatness takes sacrifice' love the journals idea will check it out
Please include in the show notes the links to the notebooks and the cover you mention in the video. Well done presentation!
Clean content 💫
Nice video and I learned a lot. I’m having the same challenges with my notebooks too versus using digital. You made some valid and useful points.
Good video 🙏 I also started to use it for mentioned reasons and it even makes fun
Hell yeah dude ! Someone’s definitely read atomic habits
Didn't everyone read it already?! 😂😅
I like your thought process, very useful info
The best pens foe lefties. Ballpoint pens Uni Jetstream or Uni Power Tank. Gel Pens Zebra Sarasa Dry or Pentel EnerGel. Rollerball Pilot Multi Ball. They are real good pens even if you are not left handed.
Would you be interested in making a day in the life vlog?
YEEES BRO! exactly this way
Almost every youtuber speaks about Atomic habits, i think i should buy this book, it time, thanks Abram nice video
its the "call out" in the to do list for me
i was just thinking abt this to use pocket notebook instead of notion ,, and yep its a great vid
You make me think of an old friend of mine named Tevin Lamar. Love the content man good stuff good stuff
Hey dude! Awesome video!
I was just thinking that you might like Leuchtturm notebooks. I've been using them for my EDC notebook for years now and love them. I use the hardcover pocket size, with dotted paged - but they've got lots of different options of sizes, colours, cover formats, and internal formats (lined, blank, dotted, etc.). You can get them monogrammed too.
They're more expensive than lots of other notebooks, but entirely worth it in my experience. High quality paper, good size, good cover, and they also have those ribbon bookmarks that you mentioned you like.
I work in carpentry and carry my notebook with me every single day while I work, and they stand up really well to the abuse of riding around in work pants with sawdust, dirt, and moisture all day. Would highly recommend!
I enjoyed the entire video brothas 🙌🏾❤️I appreciate the gems and facts yall were spitting and pray I could build a community of likeminded brothers 💯
"I hope you're not struggling to shower" - *laughs in Depression*
Sorry, I just found it funny and heartwarming how you said it. Thank you for the amazing video.
Ever heard of flat pens ? They're really easy to fit into books and notebooks and are literally life savers.
Thanks for your content, loved the video
Left handed like me! He is the chosen one!
How you just need to work on your penmanship. I started learning Spencerianship years ago and I get compliments everytime someone sees my hand writing. And I think it is beautiful to look at.
I’m a lefty too and ball point pens are the best for non-smudging. Gel pens are fancy but my hand ends up inky.
I really enjoyed your video. Have you tried the Rite in the Rain notebooks? They are really nice. Waterproof, which is handy I guess, but the paper just feels wonderful. They are high quality books and come in a nice variety of sizes and dimensions. I have several different sizes from the 3"x2" up to a 7"x9" and a hardback notebook. They are very sturdy and will take residing in a pocket quite well. Thanks for your beautiful video. I'm subscribing. I found you to be very insightful and I will be listening to more.
Man, I agree with your trick: except* it is a holy grail, "missing date & time" on all your notes
How timely, a few weeks ago I realized that I wasn’t using my bullet journal bc it was too big and I needed to get a pocket notebook to literally keep in my pocket to take notes as they pop in my head. Took me a while to find a pocket sized one with thick enough paper for me to be able to use my favorite pen (Sharpie Pen), that also came with dot or square grid instead of just lines. It’s helped so much and so far it’s mostly just been my monthly and daily to-do lists.
Can I ask what notebook you found.
@@srtwrc5 Digbats A6 notebook. I got it on Amazon.
Thanks for this. Well done
Great video! I am a leftie as well, and I use a parker jotter. They are so inexpensive, and the ink never smudges.
Thanks!
Enjoyed your video. I use a small Muju notebook, they’re inexpensive, handle fountain pens well. Great since they’re slim, when I fill one up, grab another. I do keep on separate notebook for doctor visits. At this point I’ve been using it for about 6 years. Don’t go to the Dr a lot, but can compare easily my last physical etc. keep up the good work!
Well, honestly..... If I was the Boss and was in a meeting and telling an employee something I wanted done, if he pulled out his phone and started typing or scrolling, I would be someone irritated or concerned. Because you never know what people are doing on their phone, and some people will actually respond to a text while you are talking to them and simply nod as if they are paying attention to you.
However, if he took out a notebook and pen and began writing, I would assume he's taking notes and wanting to get the info I'm giving him. So, your point about not being able to pull your phone out just anytime at work, kinda makes sense.
I have chronic pain, so yes sometimes I struggle to shower. Or even to get up to go to the bathroom
Nailed it!
Remember Elmer's glue. You can fix your ribbon and the page binding real easy. I ascribe to the thought: Just because it's broken, I don't need to go out to buy a new one. So I fix it and use it up.
An EDC video would be sick !!
yup happens to me all the time...
