Welcome to our Cat Tien Bear Sanctuary in Vietnam. Meet some of the beautiful bears you've helped rescue from bile farms & the illegal wildlife trade.
A 2005 law criminalised the capture & killing of bears, & the extraction of bile from captive bears, in Vietnam. However, the law allowed owners to keep bears already 'owned' (the bears were likely taken from the wild as cubs after mothers were killed). There are over 300 bears left in cages on bile farms. They've been there for over 16 years, but are rapidly dying off (read more here: on.natgeo.com/.... There are 2 major factors preventing more rescues - a lack of facilities & the unwillingness of owners to hand over the bears. Our new Bear House 4 will also for dozens more bears to be rescued & we're doing all we can to convince owners to release as many bears as possible before it's too late. Thank you for your support!
