I think you guys bring so much positivity into what you are doing. I usually watch another foreign solo backpacker who likes to travel to specific places in Indonesia (he has more than a million subscriber), he is a good content creator (hence, the >1 million subscribers), but your family bring so much warmth. Even better than him. Perhaps because you include your whole family in the video. You also react positively to certain events, while the other don't always do that. Looking forward to your other adventures in Indonesia. As an Indonesian who is living abroad, these kinds of videos remind me of home.
Thank you so much for you kind words and support. We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to travel within Indonesia as a family. We’ve met some of the most amazing people here.

Admire how you were quiet and respect the habitat and space of the orangutans. What a great experience for your and your family! Thank you for sharing this adventure. 👍
Seeing your vlog, took me down memory lane back in 2001 when i walked 7hours to our camp site, encountered "crazy mina", couldn't slept because i was horrified by those leeches crawled around me, had the best chicken stew in the jungle, had the best jungle river view experience of my life and streamed down the river by tubing was awesome, truely experience & memory i'll cherish till i die. Wish Kelly a speedy recovery.
Thank you🙏 for exploring Indonesia, I wish I could live like you traveling alots, I adore your kids especially the little ones already talk active ,can't wait for the next video,God bless to all your family.
Thanks guys so much for showing an ethical orangutan trekking experience. So often we see people sharing videos of feeding or touching orangutans, not knowing that it's dangerous (and illegal!) for the orangutan and for them. Still a little disconcerting to see how close people are - the recommended guidelines are to stay 10 meters minimum away from orangutans in the wild, but really commend you for your efforts to leave no trace and respect the animals you are there to view. Hope Kelly's wrist is ok and the rest of your trip went smoothly!
What an adventure in bukit Lawang.. it was a great one to see orang utan, and animal with the good fresh air.. oh i wish ms Kelly got healed from her injuried.. get well soon ms Kelly and loves to watch your video
Thanks, Deb! The trek was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it turned out that Kelly broke her wrist. 😢 More on that in Saturday's video. She's doing great now! 😅
This was awesome. Really loved this video cuz I always like to see you guys go for hiking. The last time you guys went hiking in Nepal was absolutely amazing. Just the sad part you lost some footage towards the end but it's alright lucky you could make a montage using the pictures from you iphone. That really helped alot.. Be happy and stay safe everyone.
Thanks, Jam Rock! Hiking as a family is definitely one of our favorites activities! It was a really bummer to discover that I lost the footage. It turns our that Kelly actually broke her wrist. She's doing great now, but more on all that in Saturday's video.
Orangutans are so beautiful. It's easy to imagine them existing in forests like that before people populated the area. Scientists say that Southeast Asia (including China) was HEAVILY populated with Orangutans before humans got there roughly 70,000 years ago. Apparently their populations stayed pretty strong until about 20,000 years ago when humans developed projectile weapons which they used to hunt them. Once that began, their numbers started to dramatically dwindle as they obviously don't reproduce super quickly.
I am so excited to see ur video about this orang Hutan , I am from North Sumatera but I am not yet see orang hutan ,this really cool video, good luck for u n ur family 🥰
That's a great journey when you take a trip with family, but if i can ask you how about the children school? Do they take a formal school or informal school like home schooling?
Hi there, what an amazing video! ☺ Can I ask in which month you visited Bukit Lawang? I see you posted the video in December, my partner and I are going in October but are a little afraid that it'll rain too much and the animals wouldn't come out due to too much rain.
I love the face that Forest made while we were eating dinner. It was definitely a bummer about the footage. Our video on Saturday will explain more about Kelly‘s injury.
Hi! Amazing video, thanks! I'm a single mom planning a trip to Sumatra with my 3-year old (turning 4 in december). I think your Forest is a little younger still and I see he's in a carrier. What type of carrier are you using? And how many km was the trail? I am trying to decide whether I could get around with my son without a carrier or whether this is an item I really need to invest in. My boy weighs 18-19kg now. I would really appreciate the advice based on your experience. Thx heaps.
Oh, it’s a great trek!! I used an Ergo carrier, mine was an older style (bought at a second hand store 12 years ago 😅). We chose the 2 day/ 1 night trek with the float out, which was the perfect amount of time for the kids. I can’t remember how long the trek was, but it was manageable with lots of orangutan and food stops along the way. Camping is pretty rustic, but swimming and sleeping on the river is great. I think our youngest was about 3.5 years old when we went. The first day is on a trail with some steep climbs, then second day was a mix of walking the river bed, trail, and rafting. Wear good shoes for walking in the river 👍 I hope this helps! Have a great trip.
@@BagsPackedFamily That is so helpful! Thanks! I will definitely look into the Ergo carrier (and also see if I can find it second hand ;)). Your trip looks incredible. So cool how all of you drifted down the river in the tubes too, and fearless little Forest falling asleep in them on Bendi's lap. Too cute. I hope I can manage with my boy as well. Thanks again!
Love your videos. I planned to travel to Indonesia In late January next year. Could you help clarify the issues with IMEI registration? I am still confused with this one. Thanks,
I realy enjoy the whole video. I wish Kelly get better soon. I have same issue with action cam. Then I use application "recuva" to recover the footage. it's an apps that can restrore deleted file. In my case 12 of 20 has recovered. I hope it's work for you too.

You are not the first person who failed to camp at Bukit Lawang. Many people who want to camp there fail not only foreign tourists but also local ones. But according to forest stories, both on the island of Sumatra and throughout Indonesia are still inhabited by invisible humans or ghosts. You may believe it or not but when we are in the forest we have to be polite and think positively. We wish your wife a speedy recovery and return to explore the world. 🙏
