After I discovered you could alter the pitch of notes played on your ocarina in OoT by holding up or down on the analog stick or shoulder buttons, I would often just sit around in the Temple of Time and play along with the background music all the way through. Even now, when I replay the games, I’ll sometimes just play this tune wherever. This reminds me of those times. Thanks for the great cover.
Amy Turk I have! It was a relatively cheap little 4-hole one from a stand at the renaissance faire, admittedly, but I loved it at the time. I remember it came with a pamphlet of songs, which of course included a few of the iconic OoT tunes. I’ve always meant to get a new one...
You know you can use both shoulder buttons AND the analog stick at the same time for even extra notes! Hold Z and down on analog for deepest note. (I think) Hope that helps
Furyflame2 Yup, in both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask! The shoulder buttons raise or lower the note by a half step. Holding all the way up or down on the analog stick will raise or lower the pitch by a whole step. And as the above person said, holding both the shoulder button and analog stick at the same time will add both changes together. You can also hold left or right on the analog stick to add vibrato. Give it a try next time you start up the game!
Just before we were all asked officially to stay indoors for the foreseeable future, I managed to get out to St Mary's Church nearby to film my take on the Temple of Time. If you've been subscribed to me for a while and you read the descriptions (I'm waving frantically at you and smiling, if you do!), you'll know that one of the things I love most about the harp is its amazing potential for bass resonances and warmth - so when I first considered putting this track on my upcoming OoT album, I was quite interested at the prospect of translating it as simply as possible, and just letting those amazing low notes speak for themselves (the only thing I have done differently to the original is double the melody in octaves). Tracking and shooting this was, for once, a really peaceful and meditative experience for me - usually I am so stressed and full of nervous energy just trying to remember how to play everything correctly, making sure I don't move around in silly ways or break continuity, but playing this track was just like meditating. By the end of the video shoot I could have happily gone to sleep next to the harp! Which was a welcome change, and a very peaceful day to spend in the face of uncertain times. This video once again features my fantastic Spencer Ocarina, which I have loved playing and practising with on this album journey - check the links at the top if you want to see and hear more of these beautiful instruments.
i read the description like always and i agree, the power of the low notes resonating is so peaceful and warm and comforting. I can't imagine what it would have been like to experience that live in that church
Those bass chords resonate beautifully in this beautiful church. Very gorgeous video too. Solemnly and sacred...we need this kind of peace, thank you Amy.
@Amy Turk Something I really appreciate is how you stay true to the original song, and didn't feel the need to JAZZ it up in anyway. It's an absolutely haunting song, and your harp did it justice. Thank you
I find it interesting how the song of time truly sounds ageless. It just never seems to get old but just stays in constant state of beauty to whoever knows how to play it.
Wow! That was over way to soon...could have listen to that for hours. Acoustics were nice with the S.O. I, too, love the bass strings and vibrations. Glad it was a peaceful time for you playing and recording. Thanks for all you do. (Liked your hair too).
I always say whatts on my mind and what i want to say now is, thank you! Thank you for playing this tune with your harp in a traditional Church establishment. So beautiful and majestic and sacred... oh yeah, and nostalgic (the Zelda song)
Everthing you play sounds so majestic and beautiful, no matter how down I feel, listening to you play music has the ability to cheer me up without fail. I am not convinced that you are not a magical spirit of sorts.
I love that you did both the bass on the harp very rich sounding and the classic higher tones on the Ocarina of Time. Very charming and sweet. You capture our hearts everytime Amy. God Bless You 🙏🌈💜
Amy, after seeing you play this music, dressed how you are and, in a church, with the Kokiri Emerald, the Goron's Ruby and with Zora's Sapphire, I am amazed and astonished and so enamored by your love of Zelda because it resonates with me growing up in the early 1990's with the system wars with Sega and Nintendo and Sony playstation. This is so nostolgic and you bring back this piece of my childhood to now. It feels so good. Thank you for bringing my past to the present with this beautiful and enchanting music. I'd donate, but I am not able to right now, but I will when I can. I will when I can. I think about video games all the time because I grew up playing the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, over and over again with my friend. Those moments will burn with me forever and I will smile at them and cherish them with bright luminescence. How did you get the spiritual stones? Are they real Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire? Are you pumped about the new Zelda coming out? Have you played Breathe of the WIld, yet? I haven't. But, I will. Oh and I'd totally bang you in that Hyrulean garb. I'd just shoot you up to the CIty in the Sky and fuck you on top of the windy platform, with your upper torso hanging off the precipice and me slamming into your behind with full TRIFORCE!!
the harp has been my favourite instrument since i was a child, and i can't even estimate how many hours i spent playing zelda games, so the nostalgia i get watching your videos is always super intense. this one was especially nice, and let me imagine being in a temple and hearing this in real life. beautiful job as always!! ♡ i hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and happy in these uncertain times.
Definitely asking for the OoT album for Christmas. I haven't been on RUclips for a while because of Animal Crossing, but now you have so many new videos, it's so exciting!!
I'm currently playing ocarina of time for the thousandth time, so it's a pleasure listening to it! The serenity of this song fits the peaceful atmosphere of the temple of time, making it one of my favorite tracks in the game, and your performance is absolute amazing, as always! You are a very talented person, keep it up! (ps: I've always read the description!) :D
Wow. Incredible as always. Those low notes truly are relaxing. Havent subscribed for very long, I only found your videos early this year. It is amazing to me how accurately you transcribe the various songs you play. Many of them put me in such a relaxed state that i made a playlist to listen to before bed
98' old zelda still rules? Koji Kondo is a "new age" Mozard... But serious, it's a very mystical game to containing so many fantastic compositions. incredible performance amy.
I would love if you and Michelle Heafy did a collaboration! (she covers a lot of Ocarina of Time tracks as well with her voice and piano.) She could provide her voice to compliment your harp/ocarina!

Thanks for listening! Have you tried playing a real ocarina? It's really fun. :)

These have been some of the best Zelda rearrangements I’ve ever come across, keep up the great work!
Thanks so much!

Absolutely beautiful
There’s so much thought put into these music videos, the settings seem to always be so impeccably curated
@Amy Turk

It's an absolutely haunting song, and your harp did it justice.
Thank you
There is no need for Jazz in this temple - we have the DORIAN MODE! Thanks for listening x
I love the spiritual stones in the background, must have taken a while to collect those.
I love how they replicated all the polygons from the original.
I find it interesting how the song of time truly sounds ageless. It just never seems to get old but just stays in constant state of beauty to whoever knows how to play it.
Haaa, more Amy AND Ocarina of Time? Today is a good day.
Love your take on this beautiful theme! I'll always remember the first time I went into the Temple of Time
Same!

🙋!!!! You're right, the low notes, especially in that space, are SO lovely!!
Magnifique,
Du calme,de la très belle musique

Words cant Express how amazed and jealous I am with your stones. The emerald, ruby and sapphire. And your music is lovely.
I love the Ocarina...so hypnotically beautiful.

The minimalistic approach for this tune was perfect and exactly how it should be. What a lovely and armospheric video!

I could listen to this kind of music all day.
Awesome song, & awesome background setup!
Amazing work, well done and thank you.
I love the props you have in the background to help create the theme even more!
Your talent knows no bounds
Everthing you play sounds so majestic and beautiful, no matter how down I feel, listening to you play music has the ability to cheer me up without fail. I am not convinced that you are not a magical spirit of sorts.

Absolutely beautiful. Your attention to detail in the Environment is perfect.
I'm always amazed at how life creates creative folks like her thanks for your video 👍
FABLE MARCUS MEMORIAL (Temple of Avo). I’d literally pay to see this played on a harp
Patreon.com/AmyTurkHarp 😁
haha just kidding 👍
The spirit stones and triforce were a nice touch.

Amazing! Your extremely talented! I wasn't expecting you to pull out an ocarina at the end! Nice touch 👍🏻
Thank you, Amy! 🙏
It must’ve been so fun playing in a church 🥺 I can only imagine the acoustics 😭❤️

Once again: I love it. Always makes my day when you release something new.
Again, amazing play Amy! I think your album will be one of the most beautiful things in the world, after it's done. Keep doing your great work!
A woman strongly resembling Princess Zelda playing the Song of Time in an actual Temple. She reiterates the wisdom of our ancestors in song.
Time for a *Secret of Mana* Medley!
This was beautiful, well done!
That was amazing. It's one of my all time favorite Zelda songs.
Es demasiado hermoso!
