    I've had a bit of a rough month of feeling ill through March, so I thought I'd try and play this song in case it helped me feel better! I've noticed recently quite a number of you have asked me to do more Zelda covers, so I thought this might scratch that itch too - I haven't covered any music from Majora's Mask before but the Song of Healing has always been a favourite of mine. Even though it's kind of creepy and haunting in context, it's also always seemed so calming to me, and melancholy (and you all know I love a bit of melancholy...!). And I do think it's amazing how something so melancholy can start off in Lydian (there's that mode again, it's the besssst!), but it's the way the harmony descends throughout that keeps it so dark. I love it.
    In an effort to keep things simple for me this month, and also to have a go at recording the harp somewhere new, which is always interesting, we recorded and filmed this live at InSound Studios in Surrey: www.insoundmedia.co.uk
    Thanks to:

      I play this song on my piano whenever I feel down or unwell. It's strangely dark and melancholic for a song about healing, but that might be why it's so effective. Keep up the amazing work! I love it!

      @@amyturkharp emotion is not love, love is not a thing generated or controlled~directed by any finite being. You probably mean "sending pitty, hope and affection."
      Emotions are not love(truth~infinity), they are of(from) it but not it. Emotions are finite = why they are not love.
      Emotions begin and end = change, while love does not begin nor end for it does not change. You(society at large) instinctively know this but seldom realize it beyond the instinctive(which you falsely label as intuitive) hence the notion of placing that redundant preface of "unconditional" to emphasize that love is actual love, in the haphazardly coined phrase "unconditional love."

    So pure and ambient...this piece always makes me feel, as Pink Floyd put it...comfortably numb.
    Sets me into the darkest spaces in my head but guides me in a way that makes me think “hey this is alright” and i accept it.

    Way back when video game soundtracks were so far away and foreign, I went and healed Pamela's father just to get this song to play, wired up the television to my Mom's stereo, popped in a blank cassette tape, and held down the Z button so Link wouldn't shuffle his feet or straighten his tunic, just so I could get a couple of clean loops of this beautiful piece to listen to whenever I wanted.

  • @inafridge8573
    @inafridge8573 4 года назад

    This is one of my favorite melodies ever. I love the way the song feels at points like it's repeatedly picking up and pacing and then pausing to catch its breath and then speeding up again. The bass part switches between this pensive tempo that lasts like three notes and speeding up, and when it speeds up the lead melody comes in and dances with it and then dissipates again. And then at 0:37 and all the times that part repeats, you can hear notes are played soft and then loud and then soft again, like popping or bubbling, like a bell curve

    What an amazing person you are. I actually didn't search for this on purpose, but I didn't stay away from it either. This came up in my search somehow, and I'm glad it did. 😎

    I bet if you played this at a fine restaurant, people would love it without even knowing they’re listening to music of the best video game ever.

    Just randomly discovered your channel and I am so glad! This piece of music carries a lot of nostalgia for me, and I can hear you playing this from your soul. Thank you so very much and please do play more harp music from the Zelda games,. P.S. Majora's Mask in my opinion is the most underrated in the Zelda series.

    Once again, an absolutely stellar musical performance. You really are a fantastic performer as well. Your motions are graceful and stand as a very faithful depiction of the emotions portrayed in the music. Many classical musicians that I've seen perform and even those that I've worked with come off as very mechanical as they recite the music. In your case there is this certain fluidity and emotional transference just in your hand movements alone. Bravo!

      Thanks for listening! I really just try and play music I can connect with - when I was studying I learned a lot of stuff for exams and not all of it was really what was in my heart, and I do think it affects your playing to do that, as much as it's important to learn lots of different pieces - but if you're not convinced by the music, it's not usually so enjoyable to work on, and then it's much harder to convince your audience.

      Absolutely agree. Music is all about connecting with an emotion or feeling. For me there are lots of ways to connect people to a “destination”. All forms of art in their most basic incarnations are effective at doing that. For me, Music is that vehicle of choice because it makes me feel so easily whether I listen to it, write it or play it. So I always enjoy watching musicians perform that very clearly can feel it in that moment as well, instead of just acting the feeling for the sake of “showbiz” or getting caught up in the technical parts of the craft.
