My favorite part is he’s so disinterested in the movie that he remembered the theater experience better than the film itself. Very thematically relevant.
My theater experience with this movie was amazing. When the Male detective says "pie" during one of the most tense exposition scenes, my row and the row behind us were howling with laughter. Great feeling
That reminds me of when I went to see Twilight with a group of friends. When "Edward" first appeared on the screen, most of the theater started fangirling, and one person somehow yelled over top of them "Shut the hell up!", everyone shut up. That was great. Edit: I did not pay for my ticket, and ended up bored by the movie. But that was a great experience in a theater.
@whatsacone Male detective says something unrelated and stupid. Op emphasizes it was during one of the most tense exposition scenes. Does "pie" logically sound reasonable as to causing 2 rows of people to start laughing?
@@zachisofire2422 I can tell that you are just trying to be funny, but it's just my opinion. If you aren't trying to be funny, please respect that some people think it's terrible.
Ah, so this movie had taken the Ace Attorney's localization route when it comes to explaining Japanese ghosts existing at the other side of the Earth then.
It does, to be fair, make sense ahd seems to be in compliance with the rules of the universe. Of course, it has been ages since I've seen any of the earlier films.
@Bryan Nastawa There's a dumb trend of People saying things will do for [insert object or experience] what Jaws did for sharks/the ocean. Eg. "Unfriended" does for social media what Jaws did for Sharks.

It's been so long since the last upload.. the nights have been cold and desolate... I spiraled into depression... I smoked so many beers to numb the pain.. but nothing worked.. Until this blessed day. Thank you Adum.
Ok, to this movie's credit, the original Grudge's curse worked the same way. Whoever entered the cursed house brought the curse home with them, and it's implied that anyone entering any newly cursed place also transferred the curse. That's why *spoilers* the final shot in the original is an empty, abandoned city.
Ya and this is the second time ive seen him use chi-chan. I wonder what he could have searched that would give chi chan as a search result for "generic anime girl in a maid outfit".
The entire movie was taxing to sit through but what actively made me mad is when Cho's character was on the phone with his wife as he was babysitting the ghost girl because her parents weren't home, and because like half the day went by his wife asked him why he hasn't called the cops yet (A GOOD QUESTION) but before that plothole could be addressed, she suddenly felt the baby kick and the conversation immediately changed to that instead of addressing why he'd been sitting in the house all day until midnight with a child whose parents have gone AWOL without contacting somebody about it.
2:20 that's literally the end of the original japanese grudge, though the curse populates out of control, a new grudge starting up wherever the victim of the last grudge died, and eventually it gets everyone ever. So, for this talking point, I'd say that the film just follows a particular branch of the self-replicating effect of the grudge, and while it is happening over the course of the film these other instance you are wondering about are probably themselves happening simultaneously offscreen. Not really a defense of the movie, I haven't seen 2020 yet and it looks like garbage, just a defense of the point.
There actually were two sequels for the 2004 remake that basically did that whole transferring the curse thing too. I'm not entirely sure but I think this film is actually meant to be a sort of side story to The Grudge 2 and 3 (remake sequels) than an actual new remake. The first remake sequel was garbage though. Didn't watch the third, only heard a plot synopsis of it and the current one looks like trash too so...
It is an established rule, but the movies (the three American remakes do the same thing) dont make it consistent. It just seems random what victims become a new curse and which ones dont. The Japanese one ended with empty city streets and hundreds of missing posters blowing in the wind. If the curse moves it should kill everyone, but every movie after Ju-On: The Grudge is lazy with it and uses it as a plot device instead of a natural consequence
YMS,have you seen the movie 'Creep'? It was something I came across randomly on netflix and it actually kind of scared me due to how realistic it all seemed. It looks like it has no budget at all and really feels like a faithful reimagining of the Blair witch project
I remember my sister watching the American remake when I was 6 years old, and I accidentally caught a glimpse right when the chick with no chin shows up, and I had nightmares about it for weeks.
Isn't that how the curse worked in the original? Like you'd go into the house, get cursed, the curse kills you, and then the place you died becomes cursed as well. Whoever visits that new place can carry it and the curse spreads and spreads until the end where the whole town is desolate.
when i went to see this on a Saturday afternoon, the theatre was entirely empty until like 30 minutes in, when two teens stoned out of their mind came in. they were the best part of the entire movie.
I just typed "Anime Maid" and found the picture adam used "Hyouka Eru Chitanda Anime Maid Hōtarō Oreki, hyouka transparent background PNG clipart". ...... ....... I dunno why I did that because now I'm cursed.
I kind of had hope when I saw that John Cho was in this because I heard he was good in that Searching movie. I guess that was a poor decision on my part.

The kind of horror movie that sticks with you because of the visuals and feeling. Also I completely agree about the house in the 2004 version.
