The Brownout seems like a very good function, not come across that before. Demonstrated and explained so well.

Hi Jennifer. As the Rails decoders are made by DCC Concepts i'm curious to know how the two compare? DCC Concepts Zen Black decoders advertise the Advanced Brown Out Protection just like the Rails decoder, however Rails of Sheffield are advertising this as new improved solution to smooth operation. I'm just curious to know how the two differ and is the Brown Out in the rails decoder and better than what we get with the DCC Concepts decoder?

I must confess to being one of the hard core of people who like adjusting the CVs. I use JMRI DecoderPro - it makes adjusting settings much easier.

Jennifer, perhaps you can tell me why oh why do manufacturers have a red light to show on or working. As a retired Electronics engineer a red light has always been a fault condition across all products I have worked on.

Oeh the purple a4 is really lovely. I have the same one, but sadly a gear seems to have been damaged so it makes a clicking sound when running. Will probably be sending it to a repair shop next week or so

Hi Jennifer. A very interesting and informative video. Apologies if I have asked this before; I wonder how you manage switching between DC and DCC control on your layout.

I’ve been using DCC for the past 8 years. I’m looking at changing some of my chips. Would you use something like the original Hornby units, or would you go for a totally different brand of decoder?

Its a pity that you retro fit a magnet with a metal sheet under the rails. That may improve the light locos movement.
