I predict that Ramah’s father will be a part of the crowd’s attitude change from praising Jesus to crying crucify him.
Here’s a little “fun” fact: Moriah Smallbone, who played Bathsheba, is the wife of Joel Smallbone, who sings with For King and Country and stars in the movie, “Unsung Hero.”
I thought that looked like her!
The actor who plays David is exactly how I always imagined the real David looked like. I mean, exactly!
Yes, Mariah Smallbone is playing Bathsheba! She does such a great job! 🥰
Moriah, as in mount Moriah.
David (the real David) was cowardly in not explaining he knew this was a punishment for his sin
Thank you so much for these deep dives connecting the episodes with scripture! Helps me a lot with understanding the show and scripture a lot more! ✨
12:57: "This is the way..." 😅 I said the same when I watched the episode.
Same!😭 When you’re a Star Wars and The Chosen fan.😂
Great perspective on Bathsheba’s position. She seemed to have lost the most.
12:30 "Time" - also recurring throughout this episode (sun dial, "it's not her time", to name just the most obvious ones)! So much so that I'm tempted to think this would be a more appropriate title for this episode than "Moon to blood"
The Chosen Sleuth is absolutely if not the best, one of the best analyses of THE CHOSEN! Thank you so much and God bless your ministry.
Great job on your analysis! Ressurection will bring loved ones together!
Great information Brandon. Love your Deep Dives❤
Bless you, Brandon, for the breakdown. I made the same connection between the loss of the child and Ramah, where David says those words to Bathsheba and Jesus to Thomas. ❤
There's also a connection with the baby dying because of his father's sin... and the blind man with Jesus telling the crowd that his malady wasn't caused by his parents sin 😮
Good call - I had not thought of that!😊
Well, I always thought God didn't kill the baby but just didn't stop him from dying. At that time, Child mortality was high. And people saw it like a punishment. But I could be wrong.
Great context info. Much appreciated
David using the child dying as an example of not understanding Gods plan is ridiculous. David, you can't think of the reason?
Maybe he meant since the child was innocent.
There have been death experiences where the person met a sibling that was miscarried they had NO knowledge of at all, so I do believe and really have no doubt babies are in Heaven, how could a perfect God that loves justice condemn a child who has no fault.
The baby was not condemned to hell, but taken to heaven to be with God, until the time when David would "go to him"😊
Yes, it is só beautifully written
Did anyone catch that the doctor said she is dead?
🤯🤯🤯
isn't the date of 980 BC somewhat off? The scene of Ps 77 was set in 990, where it was sort of confirmed that at that time Batsheba was pregnant with Solomon. This is 10 years later, which makes no sense
Hey Brandon, you may not see this but curious about your thoughts regarding the year indicators on this episode and the one in S3E8 with David. In S3E8, David and his wife (I think it's Bathsheba in S3 too) are expecting a child and the time says 990 BC at the beginning of the episode. This episode in S4 has the time stamp 980 BC (10 years later). My understanding is that the child that died was David and Bathsheba's first (maybe I'm incorrect there). Is this just an instance of The Chosen not being consistent with timing or historically and biblically is there an explanation you've been able to find?
I believe you made a mistake, because Jonathan was King David's best friend.
Yes. Uriah the Hittite was a conscripted soldier in David's army. On top of that, his father was an enemy of David's.
Not a mistake, just an opinion. Uriah wasn’t just a conscripted soldier he was one of David’s mighty men. One of his closest friends and followers that protected him on the run etc. I know Johnathan is absolutely his closest friend before he died, however Uriah is a very close friend to David.
Yeah I figured he was a close second
Hi Brandon, you stated that Uriah was David's best friend. Can you help clarify from Scripture? The only mention I find prior to the Bathsheba incident is 2 Ssamuel 23:39, where it is stated that Uriah was one of the 30 mighty men. I can't find a reference to their personal relationship. Thanks.
I say that because he was a part of the mighty men. These mighty men spent time in the wilderness, protected and loved David. You don’t go through that craziness without becoming VERY good friends. That’s the main reason.
So did this scene happen after the Psalm 77 reading?
If so, then we have actually gotten the David scenes in chronological order thus far (Not counting episode 8).
I think thst happened afterwards. That's why he felt it so much.
Della Warren here
I think David's best friend was Jonathan, King Saul's son, and not Uriah.
This is an off topic question, but will you be posting any behind the scenes videos soon?
With these episodes being so close together I’m saving the season 5 behind the scenes until next month basically. I promise there is some amazing stuff coming, but I have too much to talk about right now.
Well, Brandon, I guess i’m not among the 99% of people 🤷🏻♀️😊
I'm not a fan of David and Thomas having a shared experience in the same episode.
Hello sir.
OK, question @chosensleuth - how can you say Bathsheva didn't deserve it as she also committed adultery?
I'm just saying in general she got the rough end of the deal. David ( A King of HIGH authority) brought her over to sleep with her, got her pregnant, then killed her husband. Then she had to stay with her husbands murderer, forgive him and live with him as his wife..... it's not an easy thing for sure no matter what. Not to say she was perfect or entirely a victim here, but for sure this was messy.
@@TheChosenSleuth valid points!
@@TheChosenSleuthBathsheba also maybe was just forced and felt pressured to sleep with him because he is king . I would be scared too if a king wants to sleep with me . I would run away and say no but maybe she is scared that she will get killed .
The Bible never says that Bathsheba's husband was David's best friend. Show me chapter and verse that says this, please.
Talks about Uriah being one of his mighty men. This is a small group of men that he was insanely close with. They protected him, served him, and David would have known him better than most everyone in the kingdom.
@@TheChosenSleuth Book, chapter, and verse please. Thanks.
@@63AidylDo you have a Bible?
The choice to make the baby falls on both parent's responsibility. The iniquity of the land indeed is a Cross of a Highway✝️... What your partner in Christ goes through, you also Go Through.. What scripture do you base that David and Uriah were best friends? You stated it in 2 sentences at the first part of your message.
When David took Bathsheba and forced himself on her it was unwilling on the part of Bathsheba. One must remember there can be no consent when the situation involves a person of power or authority over the woman. It is unfair and erroneous to assume that Bathsheba had the option of resisting the king's advances due to his position of power
Ummmm…I’m not defending David because the man had some issues, but nowhere in scripture does it say David forced himself on her. We have to be careful to not add or read into things that are not there. Just because he had power does not mean he forced himself on her. As far as we know, she consented.
@@jenelleclark328 David's whole family was dysfunctional; I wouldn't be surprised if David's son forcing himself on his sister was inherited from their father and Bathsheba. Not everything is to be found in scripture. Sometimes we need tradition and historical context.
@@RazorO2Productionsoh for sure. David and the whole family had major issues. Again, not defending David and his actions, but we also have to be careful. At the end of the day, David was repentant of many of his sins and constantly sought forgiveness. God can still work through brokenness.

@@jenelleclark328 You say we should not assume it was rape because "nowhere in scripture does it say David forced himself on her. We have to be careful to not add or read into things that are not there".
But then we should not call Bathsheba an adulteress. We can't claim or imply she willingly slept with David - the Bible does not say she did.
So many people seem ready to assume sin in her that the Bible does not ascribe to her, but not to assume a sin in David the Bible does not directly state.
Did bathsheba have a choice to not be david's wife, or not?
And how could she betray her husband. I understand that 'the-king-can-have-whatever-he-wants' but as a God following Jew, basheba didn't even protest. Why?
She was a pregnant widow at this point.
@@kings_cashshe is not entirely innocent maybe she also wants power or maybe she is too scared that David might kill her if she don’t sleep with him , we don’t really know
12:57 This is the way. 😉
I would not use the term best friends even though Uriah was with David before David became King. He was counted as one of the mighty men of valor. Uriah was a Hittite but was very faithful to David and David satisfying his lust with Uriah’s wife was a terrible breach of Uriah’s loyalty and faithfulness to both David and Israel. Uriah even refused to have sexual relations with his wife (when unknowingly he refuted David’s manipulations) as he didn’t wish to have that pleasure while the other men were out to battle…where David as king should have been. In Psalm 41:9 David speaks about a friend betraying him yet he did that to Uriah.
Jonathan was not only David’s brother in law but he was also a faithful friend to David and the bible reveals more of that relationship.
“As soon as David returned from killing the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul, with David still holding the Philistine’s head. . . . After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself” (1 Samuel 17:57, 18:1).
They were one in spirit. Jonathan was a humble, faithful fellow who loved the Lord unlike his father who was giddy with might, power, jealously and pride.
Jonathan would have been the natural heir to the throne, as Saul often reminded him, but Jonathan chose honour and integrity over power. Jonathan previously appeared to have a good relationship with Saul and chose to sacrifice that in order to remain faithful to David. He saved David’s life and even risked his own.
1 Samuel 20:33 Then Saul hurled his spear at Jonathan, intending to kill him. So at last Jonathan realized that his father was really determined to kill David.
1 Samuel 20:16-17 New Living Translation (NLT)
So Jonathan made a solemn pact with David, saying, “May the LORD destroy all your enemies!” And Jonathan made David reaffirm his vow of friendship again, for Jonathan loved David as he loved himself.
Nope, Uriah was one of David’s closest friends and followers as one of His mighty men they went through a TON together. They must have been close, but obviously Johnathan was the one he was closest with.
First!!
I would like to pray brother that you begin to deny your flesh and start fasting. Stop giving into temptation. Break off the strongholds of the devil off your life and your eyes will open to things you can't currently see. 🙏♥️
G'day, rebornasdavid! What is this comment specifically in reference to? Something he said or something else?
