you said don't always believe that us what it is. technically if the gas line was pulling air from the tank it was still sucking air😮 i really appreciate this my guy. these saws are free and my home is heated by wood
Thanks, bought one for $10 at a yard sale. Fuel lines were all brittle and broke. Bought the kit with the new bulb and lines, fuel and air filter. Got it to run but would die and noticed the bulb was only slowly coming out. Sure enough took apart the fuel pump side and the well was full of crap. Cleaned it out and now runs great. I don't think the chain had ever been sharpened and the rakes hadn't been filed either. The tensioner wasn't engaged in the bar hole and the screw was bent and of course the chain was dangling. Didn't need it but everything was cheap at this sale..
Excellent vid Craig...did I notice a strato port on that above the carb?...I'm not familiar with the brand....also I occasionally use that yellow hose bit have not had that issue where it rots away... Yet😆😆
The sad part about all this is that your labor cost is greater than the value of the saw. I just trash picked one with a bad coil and some other minor issues. I’m at about $45.00 and if I have to spend anymore time or money on it I’ll just part it out. There’s really little value in these saws. Good information for diagnosing all saws.
Tim when you live in a 2 PUB Berg you have no safety patrol. 👀🚨 Its amazing how easy it is to jump right to an air/vaccum leak, only to find different issues. 🤑🤑
Not sure why people keep bashing inexpensive saws, especially over what is almost always owner errors causing failures. It is almost silly. Stihl and Husky have their9motly owner) failures also. the biggest difference is the money invested. The High end investor is far more likely to take their saw to a professional for repairs. The recreational(?) homeowner is far more likely to just toss the saw or sell it as - for parts only - and buy another one. Fact is - the Cheap saws are just as fixable as the expensive ones. Treat your saws right and they will likely give you every pennies worth in return,
I do agree with what you say, but when the Inexpensive (cheap) homeowner saw breaks most times it is just as cheap if not cheaper to purchase a new one especially if you're paying to have it fixed, this is how the manufacturer intended it to be as they make more money on new sales versus parts sales. 100% if people would take care of and treat their equipment with just a little respect they would get a better service life.
@@thecollectoronthecorner7061 LOL - you have a habit of dropping them often? The actual working part of the saw - The mechanics - have only improved over the years. @@nakedfreak1 Nope, just like any other Saws maintenance is key. That and buying the right model for the work intended. 99% of Poulan complaints come from 2 sources - Retail (Residential) users and Service shops that don't want to deal with the occasional owner abused (Big Box Store) product. I only say this because I have seen how homeowners neglect and abuse their Tools(vs. professionals) and I actually have a 15+yr old 4018 that still gets the job done. I also have the 372XP when I need more saw for the job.
When I take carbs off walbros or zammy with annoying special l/h jets, I just file them down to flat heads, I tried an Amazon special adjuster kit, completey junk!

Great vid. Just picked up a craftsman 40cc with 18inch bar. Seems like it’s the same saw. It idles fine but Boggs down and dies with throttle

I agree there simply isnt any value. I dont waste my time or any money fixing plastic saws. I buy them real cheep to get the bar and chain.

Its called planned obselence. I will pit my 1960's homelites and other magnesium and aluminum saws against plastic saws any time.

Anytime I see fines in the screen like that I automatically replace the fuel filter and flush the tank
I did flush the tank but reused the filter due to the fact that the line had broken and dropped the filter loose in the tank.
yeah that filder is the problem
Fine tune the carb!
