@@rcduo4935 Nooo, sorry. The RC4WD trail truck called the Hero. Looks like for gen 2 raptor. You Have to shorten it to fit the current gen 4Runner body I printed.
Front wheels turn slightly faster than the rear. Makes it turn better and help with ascent and descent. Too much overdrive can cause issues with side hill dirving.
Michael Hoyle “allegedly.” Exocaged RC has a video showing the same rig going from no, to a little, to mild, and wild overdrive on the same obstacles and besides turning it didn’t look to help at all. It hurts sidehilling, reduces run time which means larger battery, wears out a brushed motor faster, placed more stress on the front universals, and reduces overall traction levels by creating rear drag.
@@eunosmedia90 You get less torque at the wheel and more torque at the motor. Electric motors generate more torque with more load. So while lower gearing gives more mechanical torque the motor will see less load and draw less current which is proportional to its torque output.
If I had the cash to throw into it, I'd try to figure out a way to make a fully independent suspension system WITH portals for my truck. I just got myself a Redcat Gen 8 V2 and it already has the portals. It would have ground clearance for DAYS if it had independent suspension all the way around too... lol. AMain! One thing I noticed is mine seems to stop very quickly when I release the trigger. Most of the R/C's I have all have some sort of rolling stop but this seems like there is a small braking applied...is that the geared down transmission causing that?
That's the "Drag Brake". Companies add drag brake into crawlers ESC's so the truck doesn't free roll on it's own as you're doing something technical, like descending. With drag brake, crawlers have more control. Crawlers are one of the few r/c categories to use drag brake and you'd never use it in a basher or race car. -Brett
