i like how he explains every detail....sound clear and understandable ..keep it the good job always ...philippines
Thank you for your honesty with this product. It makes me trust you guys more as my #1 rc source.
I want the independent front suspension for scale coolness even though I know it's functionally inferior for actual rock crawling.
Is it? Asked the flat lander.
Nice....I’m sticking with TRX4 Portals for now, but I’m happy to see Team Associated expanding. I’m a big fan/collector/racer of the original TA vehicles, they were founded/owned here in SoCal, before Thunder Tiger bought them😎
I still have my original gold chassis RC10 and RC10 T2. I'll never sell 'em!!!!!!
I have to mention for you, to be careful installing the included molded front bumper. The bumper posts will get in the way of the steering system, causing the steering servo to fry.
Thanks for your awesome review, my trailrunner comes this week, fingers crossed
Awesome man. Have fun!

Love AMain videos, Brett, lots of good info and always nicely shot! Looks like a good rig, some cool features (like IFS) and lots of potential for upgrades 👍
Bad Ass Rig Element! Thank you Brett!
Really enjoy your work from an entertainment perspective. But you really have a way of making me want to spend money on crap I haven't thought about before LOL!! I haven't spent a lot with A main but what I have spent is directly related to your vids !! Love it! keep up the great work
I love how the intro picture look so good and nice also really really real
Great way to kick off my morning! Thanks for another great vid Brett!
Very cool looking truck Got mine Tuesday can't wait to try it out this weekend Thanks for the video
Your voice is spot on.
very nice and interesting👍👍, i love to have different crawler, this one is perfect for my collection😉👌. very nice job👍✌
Cool to see it can be a proper crawler with some upgrades. I want one to match my truck!
I have this, really like it, for snow I was using the kyosho outlaw/rampage stock tires, but now for summer putting the scale ones back on
Finally a body that kind of looks like a 4Runner
Man, this thing looks awesome, I really love it! Awesome video Brad! :D
old CC-01 also have front independent suspension for scale look..
These make for awesome Prerunner builds
Imagine bashing with this thing.
i think the same about your mom
Ohhhhgh
@@specialformula14 better than having 2 dad's for sure
I have the Body for that truck all 3d printed and ready. Considered shortening the Hero truck chassis but I don't want to mess with its discontinued.
This truck is discontinued after 4 months?
@@rcduo4935 Nooo, sorry. The RC4WD trail truck called the Hero. Looks like for gen 2 raptor. You Have to shorten it to fit the current gen 4Runner body I printed.
@@SIMKYUSHA ohhh ok
Hi Brett, it’s just like my old Tamiya CCO1 Pajero lol 😂. Still, it’s a nice rc. On another note, I just found out what my nitro stadium truck is, drum 🥁 roll please....... T2M Dirt Devil stadium truck 2 WD nitro, I’ve never heard of it before. Have you guys ever heard of it, they also done a Citroen rally 405 version 2WD.
Nice video Brett. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
I used to own a CC01. This thing is designed WAAAAY better than the CC01 was.
If I had the cash to throw into it, I'd try to figure out a way to make a fully independent suspension system WITH portals for my truck. I just got myself a Redcat Gen 8 V2 and it already has the portals. It would have ground clearance for DAYS if it had independent suspension all the way around too... lol. AMain! You tryna sponsor the build and send me 2 of these IFS systems and a servo? Lmao. I'll make it 4ws too.
i just want to point out that Brett sounds like Ferris Bueller ,im not sure if you guys noticed but i think its an important issue that should be discussed , oh and great vid helped me make my choice
This is a fantastic kit. Let me tell you why.
It’s a IFS ready rig, FIRST in the rc crawler world. Second, it’s the only modern 4Runner body you can buy. The 4Runner is one of the best off-roaders in the world, like Land Cruisers, Wranglers, Cherokees, etc
This rig is for people that 1) like Toyota and 2) want a more scale rig.
I have a TRX4 sport built up with more money in mods and brass than it cost brand new. Yes, it will outperform the trailrunner but that’s not the point.
Trailrunner is for people that want to try IFS and a more scale looking car. It’s challenging to crawl, and that’s the fun.
I'm a basher into big air, off road and fast on road and have never owned a crawler. This seems to me like it might be the best if not one of the best beginner Crawlers. Thoughts? Redcat Gen 8 or Axial?
IFS first in the rc crawler world....no. My HG-P408 that Ive had for a few years now is IFS....IRS too actually all 4 independent. I can hear you now....the HG-P408 is a crawler....well, I can tell you that it is and I have done just that with it.
Thanks for the very informative vid. Sorry about the late reply What is the wheelbase, center of the axle to center of the axle? I ask because I want to purchase one and put a new gen Bronco body on one. Thanks
definitely cool, but really only applies to the scale crowd. Everyone in the crawler world (full size offroad too) knows that solid front axle is ideal. IFS is a compromise for crawling but it wins in the go fast world
Damn the box was a nice touch
AMain should make its own brand of rc stuff
Ummm............ Protek?!
Um Protek is an amain hobbies brand
Jerry Volpini but they don’t make any cars
Dope truck
Quick question: What does overdrive mean? Does it give more power or more torque?
Front wheels turn slightly faster than the rear. Makes it turn better and help with ascent and descent. Too much overdrive can cause issues with side hill dirving.
Michael Hoyle “allegedly.” Exocaged RC has a video showing the same rig going from no, to a little, to mild, and wild overdrive on the same obstacles and besides turning it didn’t look to help at all.
It hurts sidehilling, reduces run time which means larger battery, wears out a brushed motor faster, placed more stress on the front universals, and reduces overall traction levels by creating rear drag.
I have the same question
@@eunosmedia90 You get less torque at the wheel and more torque at the motor. Electric motors generate more torque with more load. So while lower gearing gives more mechanical torque the motor will see less load and draw less current which is proportional to its torque output.
Looks like a better turning radius than my actual 4runner
Multiply it by 10
This is sick i love it i might just have to get one
Looking to soften the IFS springs. 4.5 spring rate and this kit is too rigid. I'm going with 2.5 on the front and .95 on the rear.
Ifs au 4 roue ça serait malade
Great video, I really like the looks and the best of all that I have the real one. Now I do have a question before I purchase this thing, can the body be purchase ckear? If so just take my money.
Thanks again.
Yes you can. We have the clear body set on order, but it is not yet available. But keep an eye out on part# ASC42241.

@@AMain_Hobbies Bret,
Thanks for the reply👍. I really appreciate it. I was so into this thing I even called all the hobby shops in 100 mile radius and found a place where they had it on display.
I was kind of eahh when I first saw it but like you said in the video once you put all accessories on it just looks awesome👌. All I need now is the clear body to match my 4runner.
Thanks again for the info,
Ely.
Thanks Brett.Like your video's allot.
I'm new to R/C's...will any 1.55 tires and foam work for this rig? I see you guys have RC4WD 1.55's tires and wheels or are the pitbulls they only good fit without mods?
i bought this truck moving up from scx24 building this thing shreds, update broke the body hinge compared to my gatekeeper it's slow and get hung up on everrything
Please make a video of the store now that was cool
How fast does this thing go?
Nice Video
Around a walking/jogging pace.
-Brett
Nice truck it seems. Making a scale chassis and put on a body without clear windows is dumb stupid if you ask me!
Well it doesn’t even have fenders... so it’s not really trying to be anything super realistic.
You can peel off the window stickers usually, if not, cut them out and glue clear platic in..
I'm trying to choose between this and an FTX Outback Geo. What do people recommend?
maybe im wrong since you didnt show the front suspension verry good but i really doubt this is a double wishbone
Makes me wanna build a bronco or a blazer prerunner
Looks a lot like a 4 Runner. I have a real 2019 4 Runner TRD Pro.
Yeah, it’s styled off of a 4Runner so you should get one to match your own
I used to own one but sold it already
Yea that’s what they were going for 4Runner,trailRunner
If you wanted to add more led lights, what would you plug them into? It appears to only have slots for the two front lights
Maybe a splitter like this? ---> www.amainhobbies.com/parkzone-servo-yharness-pkz1063/p21260
-Brett
Where did you get that 2nd gen T4R body?!
Why do the bottom arms have to sit so low in these cars that are all about clearance. There must be a radical design that raises the bottom arm up closer to or flush with the driveshaft for more clearance .
I got this body for my honcho. Where do I get these body mounts in the back? They don't come close for the stock ones, to fitting this body. Tia
Awh, yeah I understand. This is the body post set included with the TrailRunner: www.amainhobbies.com/element-rc-enduro-body-posts-asc42009/p-qqzztztq6cqxactz
You need the big cross brace body mount on the top in the picture, that one is used in the back. Hope that helps.
-Brett
That box is cooler than the truck.
My aunt just got the real one
Haha
And i bet it will never see a dirt trail or any kind of off-roading.....
Wat
Lol ikr
I see more Jeeps are mall crawlers. 4Runner’s around here get put to work and get offroaded.
Also, 4Runner is the best best SUV you can buy next to the wrangler. Ask any mechanic or off-roader, or look at the resale values...
I wish my 100 series had flex like that on the front end. 😏
Ashamed its way out of my price range because it looks like a great truck😭
No need to be ashamed, RC pricing is RIDICULOUSLY high.
@@bikeislife8405 Yh since then I’ve realised that after I’ve spent like 1500 on them😂
@@lucfield3066 I'm right there with you!
What’s the best first RC rock crawler?? I’m looking to buy.
This Trailrunner is a great truck, but there are tons of options! Here are all the RTR Trail Trucks available at AMain Hobbies --> www.amainhobbies.com/rc-trail-truck-rtr/c9491
-Brett
One thing I noticed is mine seems to stop very quickly when I release the trigger. Most of the R/C's I have all have some sort of rolling stop but this seems like there is a small braking applied...is that the geared down transmission causing that?
That's the "Drag Brake". Companies add drag brake into crawlers ESC's so the truck doesn't free roll on it's own as you're doing something technical, like descending. With drag brake, crawlers have more control. Crawlers are one of the few r/c categories to use drag brake and you'd never use it in a basher or race car.
-Brett
Is amain hobbies and hobby town related? The website is basically the exact same, just different names.
Yes, they are partnered; AMain Hobbies handles the online sales for HobbyTown.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Oh. Thanks, Brett!
Ama buy this
The website is confusing to use when selecting what you want to buy, I thought I was just clicking images to view but it changes the RC I am buying.
If a product is offered in different models with slight variations, we will often group them together so you can switch between them from one product page. This is why the various Enduro trail trucks are grouped together. Our goal was to save time for the customer. Sorry it has been a confusing experience for you. We hope with more use, it can become a positive feature for you.
-Brett
What was that red white and blue rtr crawler I saw in the floor?? Rc4wd??
It's the Anniversary Edition of the Trail Finder 2 from RC4WD; it's pretty sweet. Here it is: www.amainhobbies.com/rc4wd-trail-finder-2-bfgoodrich-150th-anniversary-rtr-4wd-scale-crawler-truck-rc4zrtr0101/p1165915
-Brett
Amazing rig only sold mine cause I couldnt fix the broken front axel shaft etc but was my favorite rig to hill climb by far very capable for even having the dreaded shovel but looks by far she was 1st
What has more clearance? The rear diff or the front end??
The rear axle has more clearance over the surface than the front IFS system.
-Brett
I have the trx4 I am saving for a scx10 iii after the scx10 iii this truck
I'll stick with my portal axles they'll clear any rock no problem
I want the independent front suspension for scale coolness even though I know it's functionally inferior for actual rock crawling.
I think i might order 1 of these, ill just need to order a battery tray so I can run a full size battery :/
Wow i just realized they include a long battery tray! Element rc is amazing 👏
Where did you get the concert wall thing that you had the truck
The scale cinder block came from Pro-Line; they used to sell them a few years ago.
-Brett
Is it in stock ?
Is it ready to run?
Yes sir. It require a battery pack to operate.
-Brett
Does anybody make an RC truck with fully independent suspension AND portal axles as soon on the original full-scale Hummer H1?
Not that I know of, but that would be sweet! You can't even really find a H1 body. Tamiya used to make a H1 kit, but it has been long discontinued. Sometimes you can find one on eBay, but sellers want way too much money.
-Brett
AMain Hobbies yes, I happen to have 3 Hummer bodies...
AMain Hobbies I’ve held onto my tamiya hummer for so many years lol it’s for sale someone could probably use it
Would you happen to know the max speed on the trailrunner?
Not exactly, but it's probably around 10MPH on the top end.
-Brett
How fast does it go compared to the Traxxas trx4?
Not sure; probably about the same speed, although, a TRX4 in 2nd gear is probably faster.
-Brett
Brass brass brass BBBBRRRAAASSSSSSSSSS
Will the bumper hold a winch?
Not without modification. The extra servo mount allows for a servo winch to be used, and the bumper does have holes to mount the included fairlead, but there are no direct mounts for a 3rd party winch.
-Brett
Whats the top speed of this truck?
3:08 I think you confused “ride height” with “ground clearance.”
@Firestarter No, he was right. Ride height is adjustable with ifs suspension. Ground clearance is affected when ride height is adjusted though. Don’t be so critical.
scott mathis “with a solid axle you can’t adjust your ride height unless you change to larger diameter tires.”
.
You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. Ride height is the body off the ground which can easily be adjusted on solid axle suspension. Ground clearance is the lowest part of the vehicle off the ground. A solid axle stays down when the ride height lifts while ifs lifts the driveline components with the body.
.
Ground clearance, like I already stated, can’t be adjusted on a solid axle except for tire diameter.
.
This is actually a huge difference.
.
Perhaps take your own advice. My comment wasn’t critical and was very respectful. If you can’t handle that, then the internet is not a place for you to frequent.
Does it have light buckets?
No, I don't believe so. But, if I remember correctly, behind the headlight sticker the lexan has been left unpainted, so you can retrofit an LED with that clear lens. Same with taillight.
-Brett
Okay I take one looks like my 4runner and does it come in black
Only in white at this time.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Thanks very much
how fst does it go?
If only the 24th scale version also have ifs
Could you showon trailers for boots
Put the body in the bin and put on some 1.9s LOL
Super like+sb👍👍
IFS vs solid front axle.... hmmm...
You forgot the wraith1.9 is compatible
Front suspension looks a lil to stiff
It is vary stifg
Can you and me have a zoom meeting cause I have a rc and I need help to upgrade it it is already modded for 130 mph
If you're already up to 130MPH, you probably know more about upgrading for speed than I do.
-Brett
AMain Hobbies I mean because every time I use it I have to use a new pair of wheels do you know any good wheels for them 17 mm
does anybody can fit on the chassis?
Id kinda like to se it on 2.2s
Next!!! LOL
Why is their a three chanel radio
To control another function, like LED lights or maybe a winch; whatever you want really.
-Brett
For something so sweet looking there is no on off switch and its not water proof.
Why would you "upgrade" to IFS on other trucks? That's a huge downgrade for wheeling/crawling. Ground clearance is dramatically reduced when flexing
IFS looks good but never good for crawling.
Hi
Toyota 4 Runner
That is 100 percent a 4Runner
Oh my god please don’t tell me i found another expensive hobby.
