  • Khabib Nurmagomedov opens up in this riveting 9 minute interview that proves he just may be the UFC GOAT. Khabib told me about the pressure he felt fighting Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, and what it takes to become a champion. We also discussed the death of Khabib's dad, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, and I heard Khabib's advice on family, faith, fatherhood, and his journey fighting for the UFC.
00:00:27 Joining the UFC and his goal for Eagle FC
00:01:20 What it's like fighting on a stacked card
    00:01:53 "You can't buy experience.."
00:02:10 Khabib vs. Conor, vs. Poirier and vs. Gaethje
00:02:37 "Champions fight best under pressure.."
00:03:44 "You have to sacrifice everything.."
00:05:03 "Stay focused or leave this alone.."
00:05:25 Khabib on his dad, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov
00:06:04 The importance of parents and fathers
00:07:26 Khabib on religion and his faith
This was a serious, deep interview-and I'm grateful to Khabib and his team for facilitating it. Did you enjoy this Khabib interview? Was it on par with his ESPN interview and others? Let me know if you enjoyed it in the comments, and if you'd like me to cover more MMA news or share more Khabib advice or UFC news in the future.
Special thanks to my team, Tim T. (audio) and Nick Vespe (camera operator).

@@BrianJRoberts I know what it is brother. To understand that you will have to read the Quran with a open heart. This Man is under a Divine Blessing from the Creator of the Universe. His heart is connected with Him wherever he goes, so it is the power of unshakeable faith plus Angels surrounding him that give this Aura. Within his faith is also a firm fear of no man or thing in the Universe except Allah. In front of such strong faith plus good deeds he does plus abstaining from vices creates an aura of Divine Light plus Invincibility. If you read Quran you will understand. This is a special divine aura called Rawb. Allah used to surround the Believers with this and when they used to meet the enemies of God in battle even if they had 3 to 10 times more men, armour and weapons their hearts used to crumble before the Muslims. May our Creator guide us all to the truth. Aameen!. If you see Khabibs fights especially vs Conor you can see Divine Light and Aura around him when he makes his walk towards the cage and when Conor starts his walk you can already see he is crumbling and nervous. Just one example of many.

Khabib's point about Pressure mirrors things said previously by Danaher and GSP (and I think Firas touched that too).
There are guys who train in the gyms who are professional level. And on their good day they could even pose a threat to the best professional fighters out there.
But they are unable to perform under pressure. They've tried it, and failed repeatedly. They can't focus, they can't move or control themselves the way they do on the mat.
The champion isn't just the guy with the best skills but the guy who combines the skills and the ability to perform reliably on demand and under pressure.
