I bought the VL60 earlier this year during their Father’s Day sale. It’s definitely a super system. My wife thought it would be great for camping, but she uses it every day for all of the after school kids’ activities. She also likes the convenience of using it for grocery shopping since she no longer has to delay the shopping trip for the last stop of the day because the cold items can hang out in the fridge. When we visit my parents house on vacation, we move it to their mud room to supplement their fridge. I wish I had bought this years ago. 👍🏼👍🏼
Bought mine about 4 - 5yrs ago. Plugged into our 230v power in Australia, to make sure it worked. Just let it do its thing for a few days, empty, then full of food n drinks. Worked great. Now I live in my Van but re organising, I Plugged into my brothers 230v power supply & worked great for a month or more, then my brother just told me that it wasn't working, 2 days ago. Hope I can sort it out soon cos it's freakin hot here now! Heard that some people have unplugged theirs & laid on side or front for a couple of hours & came back to life. I'm about to reorganise my Van so I'll give that a go when that happens. Wish me luck!
Great Review! We have had our ICECO for over a year and we have been very happy with it. Like you mentioned the pricepoint is great and the fact that it uses a German Compressor makes it a solid purchase. If we decide to upsize, i would definately buy another one.
Love the VL45 it is rugged and power efficient switching between an Optima yellow top as my auxiliary battery and Bluetti AC50S for an average of three and one half days run time on each before recharging. I also have the insulated cover that does make a difference. 1 year old and no problems so far.
Are you saying that with your AC50s you can run the fridge for over 3 days?! Or is that with both the power station and aux battery sharing the power duties? I just bought a VL45proS and am only getting max 27hrs with my AC50s!!
I use this VL45. Extremely efficient compressor in it. It is the same as Dometic & ARB. 10.8w draw on avg, and less than 1/2Amp on max. I just ran it for 6 days, (set at 25*-Ambient 60*) on my 80Ah LifePo4 solar generator, still had a 20Ah reserve left. I also have the IceCo insulation cover on it, which does make a difference.
@@gmantw A lot of the top high end manufacturers have moved away from Secop. And started making their own in house compressors. Dometic, Snomaster and National Luna. Engel has forever used the kt511 and kt611 Sawafuji's. ARB still uses Secop. Truma entered the market and it's made at the same manufacturing facility as the ARB fridges and they both use Secop. National Luna gives you a 8 year on warranty on their compressors. Those fridges are nice! So are Engels. I had a 40L WAECO branded Dometic. It's 9 years old running in a lady truck drivers truck as we speak. It's a, "Made In Denmark" branded Danfoss DB35F. Runs good. And has run it's life as a freezer exclusively. The made in Denmark Danfoss compressors were good. These Chinese Secop's I don't know. I wrote a post on this vid about my former boss having to buy a glutton of Indel B truck fridges with Secop DB35F compressors. He'd buy a lot of 30 Peterbilts with fridges and would have to replace 9+ in the four year trade cycle. He moved onto Volvo's and in 3 trade in cycles and a sample size of 90+ trucks only replaced 5 fridges. None were for compressors failing.
@@DutchK75 Those are high end units. The DF SeCop comes with a 5 yr, for half the price. Since I only use it for recreation, now & then, these cheaper units are perfect for my use. if I used them full time, then yeah, those top of the line units makes sense.
I'm not sure what to comment, my old ARB fridge with a dan Foss compressor has been working hard 300 days a year for over a decade at 27 degrees . I know it's not made this way anymore so my two cents here.
Thank you for another honest and great review. I'm adding this to my list, first the EB70. I'm praying I can purchase that by December, Merry Christmas to me, and then save another few months for this 😁
Hey just realized something.. every 12v fridge review is exactly the same. (Showing how it works) BUT what you could be the first at is --- what 12v fridge works best as a COOLER? -- so I noticed mine came unplugged during a trip and was without power for about 7 hours. It held up well. But for my next one I would like a comparison of fridges brought to temp, then unplugged and see which holds the temp longest.
The Secop in the ICECO/Indel B are Chinese. They don't make them in Denmark anymore. Secop is a German company. Danfoss was Denmark. And I'm pretty sure Huayi is manufacturing them for Secop.
Do you think it would be worth caulking the interior of the box where the bottom and sides meet? I curious how much of a lip they have behind the side walls? I wouldn’t want anything to spill and get behind the walls
Speaking from a SetPower owner just save the money and get the SetPower. In function and size they are identical and the plastic lid is still sturdy. That's my opinion at least.
Love my ICECO GO20, but looking to upgrade in size, and this model looks great. However looking for a unit that is less than 16” in order to fit into our teardrop trailer’s galley. Which narrows down our choices. The ICECO JP30 seems to be our only choice at this point. Not sure if you have any experience with that model.
Question, your Jeep Gladiator has an open rack on the bed, how do you keep this fridge from obtaining damage due to water? I have a Tacoma with an open bed and a RTT on a Yakima bec rack over it. I'm just worried that in a rainstorm this fridge might get damaged even with it being raised off of the bed on blocks and away from any sitting water...
The tent kinda serves as a rain cover though it's not completely covered. I've never had an issue since it doesn't sit in water and the vents prevent rain from getting inside.
Too many variables to say for sure - temps, the battery you have, how many times you open it etc. I’ve never had an issue overnight and in colder climates I’ve gone a couple days and it was fine. But I wouldn’t risk that.
Order one and used your code. Was on the fence with the lower priced ones and actually had one in my cart on Amazon. My main concern was the compressor. I like the auto switching from 110 to 12 volts. I will carry in bed of truck under rtt. How water proof is the control pad? 🤔 Thank you for a great review. Paul C. KC MO
You'll love it. the control pad is totally water proof. It's the vents you need to pay attention to to make sure it's not sitting in water that can get in through the vents.
After informing ICECO that the inside temp was as much as 9-10 degrees warmer than the display (with 3 high quality thermometers over a weeks time),they told me that a 14 DEGREE difference was normal. And sent me this Einstein theory: Hi there, Thanks for contacting us. We would like to explain to you that the temperature control logic of this model is based on Celsius (°C) units. When you switch to Fahrenheit (°F), the temperature is calculated using the formula F = (320 + 18C) / 10 and then rounded to the nearest whole number for display. The temperature setting range is -20°C to +20°C, which is equivalent to -4°F to 68°F in Fahrenheit. It is normal that the fluctuate of our fridge within 14℉. The laboratory's test standard is based on the running average temperature of the center inside the fridge, to determine whether or not the fridge is qualified by monitoring it in real time over a long period of time. And the temperature displayed is actually the running average temperature of the internal centre of the fridge. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us, thank you! Dometic doesn't use Danfoss/Secop anymore. VMOSO2-3 that Dometic uses is in house.

Loving this channel so far. Good balance of muddin’ and useful consumer info

very helpful. Im putting together a shopping list for when I get my Bronco probably in 2023. Cant wait to start overlanding.
Good points. I went with Setpower because I wanted one side for ice cream and the other for drinks. If the vl45 had that ability it would be perfect!

I have the Iceco VL45 with the Blueitti EB70S with a solar panel Luvknit 100Watt and it is flawless

This is a nice unit, but the SetPower is just such a great entry into the world of fridges.
Mine keeps my beer at a crisp 34 degrees in my garage when not in my 4Runner on a trip.
I think ICECO and SetPower uses the same compressor design but ICECO uses the German-made one and SetPower uses the Chinese-made one.

Great video im.gona get it
Supposedly Rough Country has a really good compressor as well. But I really like the looks of this one.
You can get the same fridge less the Orange from Alpicool and Vevor. And it's cheaper. The Vevor 48qt with LG compressor is $259.00.
I would be interested to see what your opinion is on this fridge. ow that it has been a year?
It’s an excellent fridge. My friend Nathan has it in his Wrangler and loves it.
help! just about to pull the trigger, this one? or the pro version?
Do you remember the wattage draw when it was plugged into the EB 55? I'm curious how much it draws when the compressor is on.
52 I believe

You mean at the 1:42 mark?
Too bad you can't switch the lid around like the Setpower and others

the VL45 Pro has the fancy top
