My great grandfather was in prison with James Earl Ray and they played cards & chess a lot together, James Earl Ray always said that he didn’t shoot Dr King. He actually had several papers and a prison jacket with his signature on them because he knew many people would not believe he was in prison with him.

Great video as always! Sidenote. The Remington 760/7600 are known as "Amish machine guns" in our area. Every 15 year old Amish boy has one of these and will crank out 5 shots faster than you can imagine. Opening day of deer season sounds like the landing of Normandy 😂
I thought there would be more people referencing it as the Amish machine gun. My grandfather certainly does his part to keep that reputation alive. I like mine but even on antelope, usually use only 1 shot.
Have heard them (and especially the 7615) referred to as "Australian ARs" since they're pretty much the best they can do without easy access to semi autos.

I was recently gifted this exact rifle, it had been purchased, put in the safe and never fired. The owner was a friend of mine who passed away and left it to his son, who in turn gifted it to me. I put a scope on it, zeroed it in and stuck it back in the safe. It’s absolutely immaculate, and I plan on leaving it for my grandchild who is now on the way.

Brendan Herrera, the model 760 is one of my favorites, possibly one of my all-time favorites. Thank you for showing this rifle. I'm a bit of an old-school type millennial guy who likes old-school stuff and can appreciate its value.

I actually know the man who spoke for the king family in court against the FBI. He maintains to this day after many instances of being sued for his involvement in that trial that the FBI and the memphis police department were responsible for mlk’s death. He is an amazing man with incredible stories from his civil rights movement days.

I went to the civil rights museum as a kid, and they had a (rather macabre) display case on the MLK assassination, Rem 760 included. I took one look and said loudly to my friend, "Hey that's my dad's gun!"

My good friend (also an LE employee) has a Remington pump in .308. My Grandfather had the Remington 7600 semi auto in 30-06. We called it the one shot wonder. Gas system was plugged as usual. When I became an armorer for my Department, I tapped out the gas ports and it worked great. My point, you can actually buy them new today.

MLK was bad actually. But, even the FBI knew he would be necessary for the Civil Rights movement to succeed, and only killed him off when he was starting to support the violent protests and riots, as it would martyr him.
When you talked about the FBI cutting down the tree branch that was in the way of the window where the shot supposedly took place, that reminded me of how the SWAT unit that entered Steve Paddocks room (during the Las Vegas Massacre) found a cold and long dead Paddock and broke the window out with a hammer. (after body cam footage showed the windows were originally undisturbed during entry)
Honestly that entire incident baffles me, but as to the windows, there was one broken by the shooter during the massacre, and ive seen a video where theres 2 kids saying they heard 2 gunshots and heard glass falling, so it could be a hammer, or it was the gunman trying his luck at shooting fuel tanks in the nearby airport before shooting himself.
@commandervile394 do you have any sources on that? I've only ever heard about the Vegas shooting and don't know much about it except that someone in charge there was later in charge of the area that the Maui fires destroyed.
As a Vegasite working about 3 miles from Mandalay Bay, I can tell you that driving by it a day or so later, there were windows blown out on multiple floors on multiple sides of that building. That's not even the weirdest part of that whole situation, but I'd be here typing for a week to share it all and I still have my questions about every bit of that malarkey ass story.

Here in PA we have a lot of guys who run 760s for hunting season. We can’t use semi autos for hunting per state law, so the pump action allows for fast follow ups. It’s honestly a great rifle and it handles quite nicely. My buddy has a rare example in .270, but they’re most common in 30-06
I know .270 is 6.8 which was proposed as a replacement for .223 as a mid point between 223 and 308 before skipping the whole PDW argument altogether in favor of .338
@@luislongoria6621 I don't think you understand what you heard. 270 Winchester does use .277 bullets like the 6.8 sig and the 6.8 spc, but the .270 is a necked down 30-06, not a necked down .308. Moving to .338 as a pdw cartridge is not the best idea because the sectional density of the bullets isn't great on armor, and velocities aren't that high.

The Remington 760 is a great rifle. In fact, the 740 and its semi auto derivatives are converted to the 760 Pump action an awful lot due to the nature of issues with the 740 family. Company in Minnesota sells them and concerts them for like less than $400.

I have always liked the Remington pumps. If you visit Pennsylvania, they are still very common as we can’t use semi-autos to hunt deer. There was over 600,000 760’s made in 30/06 alone. I used to pick them up whenever I found a deal, especially when they were in oddball cartridges.
Those are actually pretty sweet rifles. I have an OG Remington 7600. It was my first rifle. Its also a 30-06 pump action. Its got beautiful engravings on the side. I see them being sold anywhere from 15-2000$. Keep up the great work Congressman Kalash.

My Brother had a model 760 for awhile. Dropped it a few years ago. My Father had the cousin rifle to the 760 which is the Remington 740 which is the auto loader variant. Used the same stock, fore stock, and magazines. My nephew has that one now. Both were chambered in 30-06 but could be found in 270 Win, 35 Remington, 243 Win, 308 Win and 300 Savage along with some other calibers. Later, Remington would update the model with the 7600 and 7400 models.

I was recently gifted this exact rifle, it had been purchased, put in the safe and never fired. The owner was a friend of mine who passed away and left it to his son, who in turn gifted it to me. I put a scope on it, zeroed it in and stuck it back in the safe. It’s absolutely immaculate, and I plan on leaving it for my grandchild who is now on the way.

I actually know the man who spoke for the king family in court against the FBI. My good friend (also an LE employee) has a Remington pump in .308. My Grandfather had the Remington 7600 semi auto in 30-06. We called it the one shot wonder. Gas system was plugged as usual. When I became an armorer for my Department, I tapped out the gas ports and it worked great. My point, you can actually buy them new today.

When you talked about the FBI cutting down the tree branch that was in the way of the window where the shot supposedly took place, that reminded me of how the SWAT unit that entered Steve Paddocks room (during the Las Vegas Massacre) found a cold and long dead Paddock and broke the window out with a hammer. (after body cam footage showed the windows were originally undisturbed during entry)

Honestly that entire incident baffles me, but as to the windows, there was one broken by the shooter during the massacre, and ive seen a video where theres 2 kids saying they heard 2 gunshots and heard glass falling, so it could be a hammer, or it was the gunman trying his luck at shooting fuel tanks in the nearby airport before shooting himself.

As a Vegasite working about 3 miles from Mandalay Bay, I can tell you that driving by it a day or so later, there were windows blown out on multiple floors on multiple sides of that building. That's not even the weirdest part of that whole situation, but I'd be here typing for a week to share it all and I still have my questions about every bit of that malarkey ass story.

Here in PA we have a lot of guys who run 760s for hunting season. We can’t use semi autos for hunting per state law, so the pump action allows for fast follow ups. It’s honestly a great rifle and it handles quite nicely. My buddy has a rare example in .270, but they’re most common in 30-06

@@luislongoria6621 I don't think you understand what you heard. 270 Winchester does use .277 bullets like the 6.8 sig and the 6.8 spc, but the .270 is a necked down 30-06, not a necked down .308. Moving to .338 as a pdw cartridge is not the best idea because the sectional density of the bullets isn't great on armor, and velocities aren't that high.

The Remington 760 is a great rifle. In fact, the 740 and its semi auto derivatives are converted to the 760 Pump action an awful lot due to the nature of issues with the 740 family. Company in Minnesota sells them and concerts them for like less than $400.

I have always liked the Remington pumps. If you visit Pennsylvania, they are still very common as we can’t use semi-autos to hunt deer. There was over 600,000 760’s made in 30/06 alone. I used to pick them up whenever I found a deal, especially when they were in oddball cartridges.

My Brother had a model 760 for awhile. Dropped it a few years ago. My Father had the cousin rifle to the 760 which is the Remington 740 which is the auto loader variant. Used the same stock, fore stock, and magazines. My nephew has that one now. Both were chambered in 30-06 but could be found in 270 Win, 35 Remington, 243 Win, 308 Win and 300 Savage along with some other calibers. Later, Remington would update the model with the 7600 and 7400 models.
