John Tudor will always be one of my favorite pitchers. He was amazing to watch in 1985.

I saw Keith in an interview once say imagine if he would have stayed in Saint Louis and the Cardinals picked up jack Clark to play right field. Him hitting third in the lineup with Clark hitting behind him that would have been fun to watch.

There was no tougher left-handed hitter vs. left-handed pitching than Keith Hernandez. He'd stand in there fight off great pitches until he finally got a pitch to hit and stroke one to left field. He was also the best defensive 1st baseman of all-time, maybe ever. MLB changed the rules because he was so lethal receiving pick-off throws and tagging guys out.

The John Tudor / Orel Hershiser rivalry was epic.

I thought he was snubbed before and I was really pissed. A righted wrong, this is.

I am sure glad Keith Hernandez made it to the Cards Hall of Fame. My son Keith is named after him. I was sure upset the day I heard he had been traded to the Mets for Neil Allen only to find out years later Herzog traded him due to his cocaine presence on the team. I bet the Cards win the 1985 world series versus the Royals with Hernandez at first base with his defense. I would say though his move to New York worked out very well for him. I read Keith Hernandez likes playing Baseball Strat-o-matic like me. I wonder what he's like when he calls out how Hernandez is now batting. He's on my 1982 Cards team.

Having Keith at first doesn't eliminate the effect Don Denkinger had on the outcome. 😂

@@Wilco1972 You never know but another part of that inning with the bad Don Denkinger call involved a dropped foul ball pop up landing between first baseman Jack Clark and catcher Darrel Porter. Hernandez was much better on defense than Jack Clark at first base who had been an outfielder.

I'm not sure how much Herzog was actually in charge of personnel in KC and STL. If he was actually pulling the trigger he made some bad moves. The Hernandez trade being one along with the Andy Van Slyke trade and in KC giving John Mayberry away I believe for nothing more than cash on a team that was a perenniall contender but desperately short of power being a couple of others that come to mind.
