My brother from another mother, you're putting in work. You're in a perfect position to make history when it all goes down. You come rolling up in MTP with an L85 and the tyrants will be like " The British are coming! Good, we need help oppressing these civilians." Then you flip your selector and say, " Oi, mate. You're havin a bath. I'm American, bruv." That'd be legendary.
It’s got the A3 Gas block but old A2 furniture never seen the gas block like that on an A2. I do like the the SA80 probably as I’ve had one in my hands for the best part of 28years from an A1 to the A3
@@colp9492 yes sir, that was one of the parts I didn’t want to mod or Weld, I could weld a dummy over but for now I didn’t want to mess with any operational components, or risk warping the gas hole or specs under the heat of welding, hope you understand !
@@Echo_Mike great project to get this built as HK have never put them out. Great effort, I’ve never had an issue with the SA80, I’ve had my hands on the L403 which is awesome
@@Echo_Mike ah nice. When I fired the L98A2 as a cadet it felt like there was 3-4 degrees of play between the lower and upper. Tbh you did very well for making your own gun without a data package. To my knowledge there is at least one full auto L85A1 dealer sample in the US and four straight pull L98A1s in civilian hands in the UK. Gotta say being gunless I am v jelly
the original sa80 was 5.6 kg loaded ?! I had no idea it was that hefty. And I remember people complaing about the beretta ar 70/90 at about 4 and a half ...
Did you build this rifle yourself because they’re extremely rare in the US. I’m assuming you might know how to put one of these together from your time in the British military.
As a lefty that bull pup is not for me . I have always liked them . I have a book series of those 1 a month book subscription from yesteryear. The series is Combat and Survival which I now realize was alot of British publication.
The L85 can actually be fired as a lefty but not an aimed shot. It is more like the way that the MP5 can be fired from the sling as the SA80 sling design is similar
I always thought these looked really cool on paper, but everyone I've ever seen who used one did nothing but trash them. I don't know if that's just the Johnny Reb AR bias or what. Bullpups def are intriguing for the barrel length you can shove into a small package, but also lacking a length of pull adjustment and manual of arms having to reload into your armpit
The reload tends to be across the inside of your forearm but probably takes some getting used-to if you are used to an AR platform but very comfortable.
That’s awesome.
Nice pickup. Glad to have you on our side buddy! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great stuff mate, looking forward to the full video!
Glad you were able to come out and shoot it!
@@Echo_Mike was awesome to be able to mate! 👍
I like that you are still into your British roots. And how the hell did you get that?

Was this built on an existing factory semi L85?

I never understood why the Brits adopted the L85 instead of going with the Steyr AUG like the Aussies did.
