Holidays are tough on me, but I manage. I want to be down there so badly, but as things are going, I may not get there at all and that means two years without a vacation. This is not good for me and I am tired of rain, sleet and snow. I am afraid to go out at all right now because it is cold and miserable and that adds to the sadness. This too shall pass as it always does and I am ready for this holiday to be over and start another year. Happy new year! We've been slacking a bit over the holidays....new video coming soon! We wear masks in businesses here, but other than that business has not slowed much here at all.
It is wonderfully pleasant, 70's - 90's and every once in while through in a 65 which makes you bundle up after you acclimate to the weather here. Sometimes it can be pretty windy which adds to the cooler feel. Thanks for watching!
Being from Marathon, we did not realize that you had to wear masks out in public, here we just have to wear them inside businesses. Once we saw people had their masks on outside we wore them the rest of the night...we really had no idea, but of course would not want to put anyone else in danger. Key West has a mask mandate in public all the time, the rest of the Keys have a mask mandate in businesses....
Dialog is slow and elementary, but only real mistake is claiming they know the #1 and #2 place for clam chowder. They obviously have never been to Long Beach Island's famous CHOWDERFEST on the first Sunday in October each year. Many restaurants in the northeast compete to win the contests for white and red clam chowder for almost 30 years now. They keep their recipes secret and take the competition seriously. If you want the best clam chowder there is on earth (probably better than the chowder of any other planet, too), go to Beach Haven, NJ next October. You can google their website to get the details.
Laurie and I will practice and see if we can sharpen up a bit for you Paul. I was simply giving my opinion on the chowder I like best......And just so you know...Tony's Chowder out of Cedar Key, FL won the world event, The Annual Great Chowder Cook-off in Rhode Island, three times consecutively and the recipe is in their Hall of Fame.
As soon as I have enough time to get my NJ teacher pension we will be moving down there with you guys. You are so inspiring!

Yes, many swim in the water here year around...it never really gets that cold.
The Keys have a mask mandate. Their hospital is tiny and the mask mandate is to protect those that live there.
