I play guitar since over 30 years and felt like a total moron trying to restring my gf old classical guitar. Your video saved me from absolute embarrassment. Thank you.
This is an excellent classical guitar re-stringing video for a few reasons: 1) soundtrack is soothing and engaging 2) video angles are correct and 3) illustration of how the string is threaded is so apparent that anyone can do it. Thx a ton!
Not only that....great music!!! But why the gloves?? Was thinking oils or getting a "B Sting", but with these being nylon, I assume the first. I can't hardly handle the strings bare handed...can't imagine trying to do this with gloves. Have to have some nimble fingers for that!!! Thanks a lot!!! I have 2 I watch, this and the Gary Brawer video....after watching all, I find these 2 the best of all...and there are a lot of them out there!!
Funniest thing, I can change steel string acoustics in my sleep, but always have to watch this when it comes time to change my classical.....but I guess after doing hundreds of steel strings, and only owning 1 classical.....love the strings you use here....great company. I had a string come undone on me...classical....they sent me 5 packs for free!!!....asked me which I used, sent me 3, then sent me 2 others to try, top of line in hard and normal tension. Very nice of them.
Just want to leave a simple "Thank you" for the time and effort involved in creating this brilliantly minimalistic instruction on how to change these strings, which appears to be so daunting. You have shown that it is not so difficult, after all. THANK YOU!
I recently found out that skin oil can and dirt can cause corrosion, reducing string life, so I stopped eating french fries and playing. Maybe the gloves make the string show up better on screen
I have played guitar off and on for several years. After about a 15 year hiatus, I have recently picked it up again. I'm a little embarrassed to admit, but I've never changed my own strings. I always found a friend or paid someone at a music store to do it. The task intimidated me. I thought I would break the strings or not do it correctly. Thank you for making such a cool video. The close-ups and slow, careful speed of it were most helpful! And finally, I changed my own strings. :)
What am I going to do if this is ever pulled from here? I had to change a string, it's been so dang long. I followed the guy because I did not remember how to do this. I loved the music in this, I loved how he taught us, this is really the best instructional video on RUclips. I sincerely mean it.
Absolute best video on how to string a classical guitar. I've done several string changes on mine since watching this video, using this technique, and they always come out so PERFECT. Thank you!
You can change them as soon as you notice any change in the sound. It may depend on how much you play. Also, the silverplated nylon strings do change color a bit after a while.
I just hope people new to guitars don't tie a knot in their strings at the machine-head , especially the 3 thinnest ones on steel- string & electric guitars . New ones knotted like this can break as you bring them up to concert-pitch ! All that's needed is to "trap" the loose end under 2 or 3 windings , they'll never come loose . And taking them off at your next string-change is much easier , trying to undo a knot at the back of a dark stage if you break one in the middle of a gig is a nightmare . Hope this helps , Nige .
This is a classical nylon stringing you dumb f**k. It is quite common to tie knots at the machine heads. If someone doesn't know the difference then that's their own fault. This video clearly states that it's for a nylon string classical guitar.
I was wondering about that, too. When I used to play, I used to string mine the same way--trapping it under two windings, though when I first got my guitar, none of the original strings were trapped. 🤔
I cannot fathom why anyone would want dialog or verbal instructions with this. There are tons of videos on restringing with it, and they are mostly confusing with instructions like "loop around the back", etc. - who knows what the hell they mean! This is perfect.
Not even kidding. I just got a new set of classical strings in the mail from amazon. I walk upstairs and pick up my classical as I start singing All Along The Watchtower and played along for a moment. Then I decided to look up videos while working and this was my first click. I had to comment when I heard the song.
This is the best video I have watched. You guide the beginners through step by step. You have made restringing a guitar so easy and simple. I can watch every movement. Nothing is missed out here. Thanks heaps :)
Thank you very much! A clear, complete way of showing how to do it, with no half-drunk sounding narrator who drags it out for 15 minutes! My trash-picked guitar has life again!
It's rather nice to see it done slowly and steadily for once instead of a hand continuously being in the way. Thanks for that, and well done. It really helped.
Interviewer: So what do you in life? Phorenon: I'm a surgeon. Interviewer: And what was your last operation? Phorenon: I restringed a classical guitar.
he is right....3 winds. I melt a bead on the nylon string end and then string them up. When the bead end is tucked through the loop and tension applied, the bead end can never back out.
so glad I FINALLY found a video that simply shows all of the movements required to restring a classical, and slowly enough to see everything and keep up! great job
I wasn't sure which side went tied at the bridge, it was all i needed to know. Very useful video, the rest of the video is The user setting the string on the tuning key to his preferred method. I differ in that part, kudos on the video!
finally! bravo! just cant say enough how great this video is how much i appreciate everything beginning to end thank you! well done by FAR the best how to video ive ever seen on youtube
Just looking and found this, wondering if I was restring right. After this mesmerizing surgical operation with a wonderful Jimi song to show the most important part of restringing I realized I've been doing it right all along. Thanks for the experience Phorenon.
Over 6 years old now this video but still so useful. It probably couldn't have been any clearer if they tried! I have to restring my daughters acoustic soon and thought I'd practice by taking an old string off completely and then refitting it, as I've never strung an acoustic before. Needless to say, by following this video I've done a far better and neater job than the last person who strung her guitar!
Could have been a 2-minute video, but I don't mind detailed tutorials, because sometimes you just don't understand what the guy's doing, so I thank Phorenon for taking some time and making it as clear as possible.
That was the best instruction video I have seen. You took your time, and allowed us, the viewer to see exactly what you were doing. Far too many instruction videos rush through it, and use bad camera angles, and you cannot see a dang thing going on. This was excellent! Thank you.
So very happy I found your video. Am restringing my daughter's classical guitar. You've saved me time and tears. Kudos to your video! It was easier than I expected. I didn't know that the stiff end of the string goes into the bottom end. So logical yet I was clueless to this fact. Thank you very MUCH!!
I've never restrung *anything* in my life so I thought this was going to be a huge fail. I put new strings on my guitar while simultaneously watching your video and I didn't have a single problem the whole way through. Also, your description in the downbar about how to restring 1/2/3 was very easy to follow! Thank you so much. My left hand is so sore from winding the pegs and it hurts so good.
Hi, thanks for posting this. I've never strung a classical before and was stringing a Yamaha for a girl that she got from her Aunt. She's a beginner, so I knew she didn't know how. I've been playing 20 years and had never strung one!
I think this isa wonderful video. With great music and the gloves.! It makes me think it's an instructional video on how to dismember a murdered body. I'm going to watch it again. Never mind about stringing my guitar.
Dude! You're making love with the guitar... :p But it's really good... I liked it! After watching, there's no way you can't restring a classical guitar... Props!
I came for a video on restringing a classical guitar, but wasn't expecting this! Getting lost in the music, the gloves, the slow movements, and the clinical sensuality.

Never knew changing my strings could be such a relaxing and mystical experience, but this music man..
Hands down the best, most relaxing “how to” video in the world.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You mean Hands (with gloves)*
Informative and helpful video. Also, oddly creepy.
the song adds up the creepy aura 😂
I'll bet he's got a mask like Bane from Batman, so he decided for clarity not to do the voice-over.
Ryan Kriebel check out the "runforthecube" channel. It steps up the creep factor.
Lols
Dexter, is that you?
This is an excellent classical guitar re-stringing video for a few reasons: 1) soundtrack is soothing and engaging 2) video angles are correct and 3) illustration of how the string is threaded is so apparent that anyone can do it. Thx a ton!
Instructions unclear my guitar turned into a xylophone
Hi everyone. Thank you all for watching my video and leaving comments. If you find this video useful, then I'm glad I could help. Thanks.
that was a fine surgical precision of a re-stringing. Thanks!
Not only that....great music!!! But why the gloves?? Was thinking oils or getting a "B Sting", but with these being nylon, I assume the first. THE GLOVES ARE TO PREVENT SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE (JOKE) JUST WASH AND DRY YOUR HANDS
great video! love the soundtrack
Just want to leave a simple "Thank you" for the time and effort involved in creating this brilliantly minimalistic instruction on how to change these strings, which appears to be so daunting. You have shown that it is not so difficult, after all. THANK YOU!
Looking forward to video of him tieing his shoelaces..
this video: *exists*
Brad Hall: *heavy breathing*
agree this took years off my life
Lol
he's just helping?
Hahaahhhahahha
Can't help but wonder why an electric blues guitar track is the backdrop to this classical guitar restring tutorial...
swiftlessons Got a good point here!
swiftlessons because he could. why do the same music like everyone else lol
swiftlessons because he’s wearing white gloves, that’s why.
I recently found out that skin oil can and dirt can cause corrosion, reducing string life, so I stopped eating french fries and playing. Maybe the gloves make the string show up better on screen
how could he be playing on his classical while he's restringing it?
well great, now i know _everything_ about sex but nothing about _guitar stringing_
I don't what video ya'll are watching...
This video is so helpful and relaxing. No frustration during the restringing process.
I have played guitar off and on for several years. After about a 15 year hiatus, I have recently picked it up again. I'm a little embarrassed to admit, but I've never changed my own strings. Linda Bigbee ....and now....a cigarette...
I've been playing since 1995 and never strung a classical guitar until today :D
I am a senior citizen teaching myself guitar. Thank you creating such God-inspired video. This is my first time stringing a guitar alone. Bless you.
I felt like I was intruding on a very intimate moment whilst watching this. very helpful though, 10/10
thanks a lot it's probably the most clear and detailed demonstration i could find about restringing
Feel like I'm watching guitar string erotica, complete with slow motion replays of the best parts.
At the end if he showed his face he probably had Joker make up on his face. Lol
perfect instructions. no talking, straight to the point, slow and steady.
Thank you. That was my goal, I appreciate it.
I love that you made this totally visual, and did a fabulous job of it. Loved the music, also.
Thank you, I appreciate that.
This is awesome... I felt like I was watching the opening scene to “The Guitar String Killer” ...killing soon in a theater near you
As most classical guitarists would say, this tutorial is "on fleek!!!" Excellent video. THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!
What am I going to do if this is ever pulled from here? I had to change a string, it's been so dang long. I followed the guy because I did not remember how to do this. I loved the music in this, I loved how he taught us, this is really the best instructional video on RUclips. I sincerely mean it.
I'm right there with you Ce. It's magic
Absolute best video on how to string a classical guitar. I've done several string changes on mine since watching this video, using this technique, and they always come out so PERFECT. Thank you!
Thank you, that's a cool guide! I haven't touched the guitar for 5 years and forgot everything. This brought me up to speed!
You can change them as soon as you notice any change in the sound. It may depend on how much you play. Also, the silverplated nylon strings do change color a bit after a while.
Changing nylon strings is a bigger bitch than changing 12 strings. Yet the end result is beautiful.
Do you tie the nylon strings to the tuning pegs in the same fashion?
Thank you so much for this video. It is clear the effort you took to make sure noobs like me understand exactly how it is done.
I just hope people new to guitars don't tie a knot in their strings at the machine-head , especially the 3 thinnest ones on steel- string & electric guitars . New ones knotted like this can break as you bring them up to concert-pitch !

Leftienige Blank I guess I wanted to see someone suggesting it in comments. I think in same way.
My thoughts exactly. I strung a lot of guitars in my life and never once did I do what he did with the knots.
This is a classical nylon stringing you dumb f**k. It is quite common to tie knots at the machine heads. If someone doesn't know the difference then that's their own fault. This video clearly states that it's for a nylon string classical guitar.

@@johnnhoj15 I tie knots at the end of the clear strings and no knot for the top 3. i also dont wrap the string more then once.
This video took me on a journey to enlightenment, bless you for posting 😉
I felt like I was stoned by the time this video was over.
I cannot fathom why anyone would want dialog or verbal instructions with this. There are tons of videos on restringing with it, and they are mostly confusing with instructions like "loop around the back", etc. - who knows what the hell they mean! This is perfect.
This is the most phycidelic tutorial I've ever seen on youtube
Just a perfect video. Thank you, a man with gloves. Feeling myself like watching it twice just for fun.
Nice vid! Finally someone who actually showed how strings being looped instead of listening to their chat and just watching at their fingers.
Thank you brother , I am going right now to restring my guitar . I learned a lesson tonight
without listening many words
The tension waiting for that A string knot was unbearable!
Not even kidding. I just got a new set of classical strings in the mail from amazon. Thanks. After 21 years Im finally able to change my strings in 5 minutes perfectly.
Best video about it.
i just watched a surgery
Or a CSI, haha. But it was very useful :)
haha
Andy Azael I‘ve just done a surgery
He even had gloves and everything
Dude, I just laughed so hard!!
Good stuff! I like how no audio was necessary in the video, background music was chill asf!
Thanks for posting!🙏🏽🤲🏾💮
Dexter, restringing a guitar.
The dark passenger .
😂😂😂
I thought I recognized those hands.
lmaoo
Thank you very much! A clear, complete way of showing how to do it, with no half-drunk sounding narrator who drags it out for 15 minutes! My trash-picked guitar has life again!
this has been a total lifesaver for me mate!!
thanks so much for a brilliant tutorial - really helped me massively!!

Casper Santa Thank you.
Interviewer: So what do you in life?

Najlepszy filmik jaki znalazłam, bez zbędnego gadania a wszystko jasno i przejrzyście pokazane
what happens if u string a guitar without gloves on????
do u die??
ermergerr
I suspect the gloves are for better grip.... or he has horribly burned fingers. Phantom of the Grand Ol' Opry.
JUST WASH AND DRY YOUR HANDS DONT PUT ON GLOVES NOBODY PUTS ON GLOVES !
NO THE FIRST STRING TREBLE E SHOULD BE WOUND 3 TIMES IT SLIPS DIFFERENT PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT IDEAS I WIND THE WOUND STRINGS TWICE
he is right....3 winds. I melt a bead on the nylon string end and then string them up. When the bead end is tucked through the loop and tension applied, the bead end can never back out.
yeh i alwaysmeilta bead at the end of the high E
This is one of (if not THE) BEST restringing video tutorial I've ever seen, by a long mile. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
For a first timer like me, this was perfect!!! Thank you so much!!! I’m so excited to start playing.
so glad I FINALLY found a video that simply shows all of the movements required to restring a classical, and slowly enough to see everything and keep up! great job
Absolutely brilliant video. Notes on all important points, clear movements, and excellent music. Thank you my man, you are a dude. :)
even after 12 years, this video is helpful. If you're here man, thank you 💙
Thumbs up for no-nonsense video. I was expecting "Hey guyz whatzup!" but instead exactly what i needed
I was trying to restring my guitar with this video but it made me fall asleep
Does anyone else feel like they've taken acid after watching this video?
Yeah, you never *really* come down from acid
I was heavily stoned watching, what suspense. I mean I really really thought he wasn't going to do it at times
Thank you for your clear, quick, no messing about help. I can't bear videos that ramble crap for ten minutes and show you what to do for ten seconds!
This was just the perfect video, gave my mind plenty of time to soak up exactly what was going on...it registered!
Thanks my Friend!
Jeff Mercer

Alan Justice Thank you.

EXCELLENT, No Talking just showing how to string.
Just looking and found this, wondering if I was restring right. After this mesmerizing surgical operation with a wonderful Jimi song to show the most important part of restringing I realized I've been doing it right all along. Thanks for the experience Phorenon.
This is the best video on RUclips. Thank you!
Finally a video that shuts up and actually shows you how to do it.
Thank you everyone for watching. About the gloves... they're a bit of a mystery. Sorry.
You probably just have really ugly hands.
Bruh

this is so dramatic lol
Restringing guitars can get dramatic sometimes..
The Walrus too right man, I don't know whether im gonna destroy the string or the guitar -.-
***** totally, hah!
Lily Li intense is the word.
Agreed! Very dramatic and creepy all at once lol
Really easy to follow and informative video. Great work Patrick Batemen.

There was one item I did not see while you carried out such complicated intervention:
a stethoscope.
Hi, thanks for posting this. I've never strung a classical before and was stringing a Yamaha for a girl that she got from her Aunt. She's a beginner, so I knew she didn't know how. I've been playing 20 years and had never strung one!
Great video , can`t believe the number of dislikes , 290 people couldn`t figure out how to tie a knot .
This is my go to video whenever I need to change my strings because for some reason I forget it every time 😂.
This was brought to you by Naughty America
Thank you so much for the close up, overhead angle and for doing it slowly. This is the best vid I've seen so far. Very helpful!
Extra stalkerish. Nice touch, liked.
I think this isa wonderful video. With great music and the gloves.! It makes me think it's an instructional video on how to dismember a murdered body. I'm going to watch it again. Never mind about stringing my guitar.
The tension was almost too much to bear......hey I'm here all week!
I’ve restrung my classical over and over again but I still go back to the video thank you
Dude! You're making love with the guitar... :p But it's really good... I liked it!
After watching, there's no way you can't restring a classical guitar... Props!
baha wut
I've been playing guitar since 1995 and never had to string a classical until today... Well that was helpful, although slow moving at times.
This video made me feel uncomfortable
There are other videos that will make you feel even worse. Keep looking!!
Very well filmed and the best how-to video on stringing a classical acoustic. We can actually see what you're doing. Nice job sir, and thank you.
Very good, not too much yackking like most of them has. Interesting to choose that tune to show how to tune a classical guitar.
This is without a doubt the best instructional video on how to string a guitar hands down, fucking perfect!
great video and music ;) good work dude !
I came for a video on restringing a classical guitar, but wasn't expecting this! Getting lost in the music, the gloves, the slow movements, and the clinical sensuality.
Even my dog can restring his guitar after this tutorial
I like this. A simple instructional video without all the unnecessary rambling. Thanks
You're welcome, and thank you for taking the time to leave your comment.
Watched many other tutorials, but this one is the easiest to follow. No human explanation needed😆
My string just crashed again and my guitar has a crack now. Can someone help?
The only video I watched and the only one I needed too watch. Well done on the tutorial.
Beautiful, perfectly timed to the awesome cover of "All along the watchtower" - by who?
Wow thank you so much. I haven't played for so long because I couldn't find someone to restring for me and now thanks to you I DID IT BY MYSELF!!!
