New subscriber; good to see us in Pretoria. I was considering somewhere not as big as Joburg, but with the same climate. Lots of stairs, but good bones; lots of potential! Great vlog!
I live in Pretoria and have just never liked living in Joburg. Grew up on the coast and so I feel walled in, in Joburg. It’s just too hectic also. Pretoria East and Centurion are great places to settle in, with lots of new or fairly new properties and estates to choose from that are close to all amenities.
This house is awesome except it's too compartmentalized - not unusual for older homes. I like your ideas about opening up the space. Look forward to your journey whatever you decide.
Its so good to see black americans come to South Africa I just hope that the community of black Americans that do come to South Africa do not create an "enclave community" as seen in how many westerners do when going to global south nations. I hope you love south Africa and fully integrate into it because if not there will be an uncomfortable push back to black American presence in the country (there has been a growing conversation on this had by black south africans). Im not saying this to deter you but for you to acknowledge the responsibility you have when living in South Africa , the most unequal nation on earth . I would hate for my people to see black Americans as just another group of foreigners seeking to use currency and passport privilege to attain lifestyles that most South Africans could only dream off. I hope your house searching goes well , I would also suggest if possible to look at gated estate communities for safety and reliability especially for expats .
I do not speak for all African Americans I can only speak for myself and my family. but what I will say is that African Americans that come to Africa come to get something that was lost to us during the Atlantic slave trade and that is a connection with continental Africans. Me personally I'm looking for business partnerships with South Africans and to fully integrate my family into the south African culture and lifestyle. my vision is for my descendants to become indistinguishable from native South Africans
Interesting times. Your concern is valid. Only time will tell.... Africa is a land of opportunities for those with eyes and ears... I welcome all African Americans .
I eould choose this home any day over the new toilet sized homes in new estates. I love soace to plant, uave workshop & other types of home based businesses.
Wow . This is the most beautiful house . It’s big , the architecture and everything about it. The perfect house for a big family . To many beautiful memories in that house ❤️🙏🏼. 🥂
Most comments here are from kids , or not well informed people. If i sold my house , i would keep my antique furniture. First for it's value in the market and second for quality. The new owner should know what to upgrade and what to keep.
Enjoy your stay in South Africa.i wish most of our African American Brothers/Sisters in can take advantage, buy properties in South Africa. What are they waiting for,,,,,,,if you are Black u get first preference in South Africa
Wow, With the right budget and architecture team you can remodel this house into a mater piece of architectural design or a guest hotel, its huge with a very big yard! You can have your free range chicken and turkey roaming around on this land, Is this a farm house?
I bought a home in a new community in the good ol USA... Where my white neighbors bought 2 or 3 homes and my black folks bought just one. Why do you think? Because the white people helped each other out.. Try to keep them on top, above the rest so they told them the deals and prices. Black people tend to be scared that it's not enough or that it will be taken from them. You not telling the price is just continuing with the teachings Willie Lynch. Share the knowledge share the wealth.. it's enough to go around. Congratulations on your new home. 🎉🎉😊
That's the problem with the community it wants everything easy without labor. I don't tell you what I pay for food, gas, and toilet paper, but you want to know what I paid for my house. Do what I did. Get off your ass Google and get the job done be self reliant. In the comment directly under yours, someone asked for the realtors name and number, and it was given to them. But you want me to hold your hand and walk you to class on the first day of school 😅 sorry but not sorry

Is this a farm house?
No, it's not a farm house but we do plan to have herbs and vegetables
😊 No, farm animals or livestock are usually not allowed onto estates.
The previous owner before us had hogs, but I would never farm creatures of that sort
beautiful
Great Property!!
Nice.
Beautiful! Do you mind telling us approximately how much this one cost? Doesn't have to be exact. We will be house hunting in SA in 2024.
Use pam golding, property24 or remax
And search gauteng

I think a home in a gated community might be better and one with solar panels and generator
1000 chair house, old bones , old windows, old metal frame doors..
One man's trash is another man's treasure
