  • The restoration of this vintage mid 70's Pioneer 1200A chainsaw was a complete tear down. The chainsaw had sat for a lot of years but was in pretty good mechanical shape. New piston rings were installed and the carburetor was rebuilt. The gas and oil tank are a (2) piece design so they were taken apart and thoroughly cleaned. A new fuel filter and fuel lines were replaced and all copper oil lines were cleaned out. The chainsaw went together great and started better then I thought it would. In the video I was trying to tune the carburetor but not having good success. My son took over the running and tuning of the chainsaw and was able to get the 1200A dialed in. We ran low on fuel at one point as we could see air bubbles in the fuel line to the carburetor. We filled the fuel tank and that really made a big difference. They're still a few bugs to work out but overall I'm really happy with the Pioneer 1200A. There's nothing like running an old vintage chainsaw. Hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.
