Rumble was an absolute legend and will go down as one of, if not the scariest LHWs during his prime. The duality of this man was insane, a warrior every fighter was scared to face in the Octogon but was insanely loving and humble outside of fights. Rest in peace king, you were adored by millions🕊

He was protecting his investment. If they fought at the press conference and one got hurt, the fight night would have a lot less hype, and in turn, he'd lose a lot of revenue. Plus, whether the main event happens or not, he'd still be responsible for his contractual obligations (renting arena, TV contracts, etc.)
Even though the ticket says "card subject to change," in some jurisdictions it is law that refunds must be offered if the card changes within a certain time before the fight.

@@louiseeniar13 he was suspended indefinitely by the UFC after a hit and run incident in April 2015 leading to UFC 187 which was next month, and stripped of his title, that's when Corimer got to fight Johnson for it as it was vacant.
After seeing Rumble fight DC, a fight between him and Jones would've been pointless. Jones would've mauled him.
