- In this video I have demonstrated step by step, how to set up a SMTP mail server in your local system. Setting up a SMTP server is very simple. And this knowledge will be very helpful for you from a system admin perspective.
I have created a email server using hmail server. And then created domain/accounts step by step. Also, using different email client I have sent mail between the accounts.

Thank you for creating such a helpful video. For future viewers - This video uses HMail Server as email server. A built-in email server also comes up with Windows Server operating system. It is called SMTP server. It can be configured using IIS 6.0 manager. Although, I found that setting up HMail server is lot more simpler than other options.

Please note that the first think to do is to install MySQL Workbench to yur computer, and setup a localhost connection. The default port for your MySQL Socket is normally 3306. But I had to change that port to 3307 for the hmailserver to be able to connect to our localhost. Otherwise, you will have an error such as "SSL connection error: unknown error number" or similar errors.
Also, if you set a wrong port, you will have an erro such as "Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)". So MAKE Sure the port on your localhost is the same that you provide when setting up hmail server

Glad it worked for you but it's very bad security practice to download dll files from random websites. Malicious code could easily have been added to them.
What do I do if the message given during the MySQL instalation is:

Try to connect with a DBMS (Database Management System). If you can connect using those credentials to the database then try one more time using the credentials you entered copying and pasting them

Good video, but missing real email process. For some people who want to send to another accounts like gmail, msn, yahoo, etc is allowed if your ISP don't block port 25. Otherwise you will need a relay server to handle around port 25. The other thing not explained is what about receiving email from people?. How to configure MX records?

No, you won’t be able to use your local host server to start your email marketing services, you need to configure your server on an VPS using linux OS, you can also use popular frame works like Cpanel or Postal(it’s free and reliable).

It worked for me :) If you are having permission errors editing the host file mentioned at the above link then you need to go to the host file where it is saved, right click and under security click "edit"--> add "everyone"-->check names-->save and apply..should let you add the details. You need to add the ip and the fake domain to that host file (the ip is the localhost server ip, google search how to find it if you don't know where - I had to)

Hi there I followed all the steps and worked as described until i installed the libmysql.dll into the hmailserver/bin folder. after this step although pressing the next button did not come up with same error as before the download of the file, it said that it could not connect to the database. Have you had this problem and how do I get past it, thanks for the content.
close the current installation and reinstall, the error will go.
or check your credentials, or see if you have xampp or wampserver installed then check: username=root password=(dont type anything bcuz theres no password)

You have to run MySQL server first. Did you run xamp or wamp as per your OS?

Yes, you can. The only thing is required to send mail to outside users, is to open port 25 by your ISP.
