Around last year, I heard that it is not that crazy to write native code in React Native using Expo modules, but I never would've thought about using it to wrap other platform-specific libraries. It'll be cool to see what else comes out in the React Native ecosystem that uses this pattern.
I've written a similar functionality using gestures and reanimated libs. It took me around 350lines of code. I felt not senior enough to try the native approach.
