Some South African Dakar bike racer came to my school and his story is INSANE , basically it was tough getting to the Dakar and when he got there his bike was ran over and he had to fix his bike to ride again by hand by complete luck that his competitor was taken away on a helicopter and his bike left there to be taken apart

MENTAL. I feel like everyone who’s been on the Dakar has some crazy stories

Been watching ur channel since u switched over to F1 think ur a really entertaing presenter and personality and enjoy ur style! I also love the Dakar and try to watch it every year. I live in the UK tho and find the coverage availble here awful. In particular I find Dakar's RUclips channel particularly frustrating as they do videos in several languages on the same channel which works terribly with the RUclips algorithm. They also seem to regularly mislable videos and stuff like that. For some time I've been hoping for a change in whoever's in charge of their social media and this video made me realise how much of a brilliant job u would do of it!😂 I've watched you through the Formula E stuff and everything and fairly regularly think that at some point I am sure you will be picked up by someone to present motorsport, who knows maybe it will be Dakar!

Honestly just the thought of sand being in every crevice of my body for 2 weeks straight is nearly enough to put my off

@@MrAidenF1 and you gotta be in basically a sauna of a car so sand is stuck to your body

I think I should write something positive about the video, but... Dakar is such a vast topic that every video shorter than 2h is just taking a piss. Normally I'm the first one to laugh at cars competing alongside bikes (not like I'm bitter because I only have an A license...), but at Dakar everyone is equal in the face of God's Eternity (for many, literally). Though... there is a special bike category for people who turn up with a bike, a simple toolbox, a tent and nothing or noone else. To me, that's the closest you can get to be a hero of legend without killing dragons.
Ah, one thing though- you can't really watch the Dakar. You can be complately useless at work while waiting for the day's recap to go on-line (I'm yet to get a bonus in February because of that). It's physically impossible to film the whole thing, since the route is not fully settled. In fact, every few months Saharan nomads still come across the cars, bikes and skeletons of people who took the wrong turn before the GPS era...
