I don't think it was ever considered, people only believe that a GTi is the fastest car VW has ever produced, GLi is a sedan version of a GTi and probably hard core VW enthusiasts and a few people who love to read know that.
i bought a mkv 2.5L for 1000USD a few years ago. Everyone says i need a new car just for updated technologies but i dont see myself getting rid of this car until it literally will not move anymore. I love it to much to part with it. All ive done is a custom exhaust and it just handles so well, sounds so good, drives so well, and its fucking bulletproof.
@@dylangnaidu Have someone from the states ship you one. if customs play games then get a regualr 2006-2008 2.5l as its bulletprrof and then buy the specific GLi parts you want to bolt on seperately.
Absolutely GORGEOUS build, very clean and classy. I have the good fortune of currently piloting an MK7.5 GTI, but there will always be a special place in my heart for my MK5 2 door. The FSI 2.0s made great power with relatively little persuasion, even in comparison to the ever increasing “hero numbers” hp levels in the MQB community.
Excellent feature guys Jetta 5's are always over looked. Yosh is definitely one of the good guys out there. He is very thorough and will always give you good advice. Yes,he's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. The BWA engines are really strong and reliable if built properly with the right parts. This is an excellent example of what can be done..
Awesome build ! Having own a Mk5 Jetta I can understand all the details involved, especially in getting the interior all black ! Not an easy task to get in good condition these days. These things are a bag of fun to drive, mine has the GTI engine with 6sp DSG, Mk6 R steering wheel with flappy paddles makes it even a little more fun :)
@@dylangnaidu I have an Audi S3 BZC with the K04 setup ready to go in, I was going to do an AWD swap from an Audi to make it different too but not sure I will do that now, I have the body mounts from under the car, that's about the only mod you have to do, everything else is straight bolt in swap.
Beautiful, Beautiful Jetta.....Dylan! I've always liked these Jetta's, and the Mk. 2 and 3.... Your car is not "overdressed", it looks really nice....I like what you've done to the motor, decent , decent power....Enjoy the car 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

I have my mk5 jetta now for 13 yrs with a few mods and like the guy said ....ppl underestimates the 2.5 motor until they get embarrassed on the freeway lol
All you need is a haldex controller and pretty sure the ecu you have will be fine. As long as you use the haldex controller and you can control the bias also. So if you want 60-40 front to rear or 80-20. You can change it. You can use the Passat 4wheel but would need it all from the car. Rear subframe and everything.
I’d just start with small things like making sure everything is running as it should and no parts need fixing or replacing. and small cosmetic exterior/interior mods if u think it needs it. I also own a mk5 Jetta, replacing the grille for a blacked out version from the golf, putting Bluetooth head unit in. Also did some vinyl work on the trim panels (they were wooden finished, didn’t like them) Will probably change the front two seats out after that as well. But good luck in making your Jetta fresh 🫡
Its also tough here in South Africa. But Jamie Orr might someone to reach out to as he took over a golf 1 which was built in SA with a R32 engine over to the states.
How do you get turbo noise with these cars? Diverter valve? Forgive my lack of knowledge on the subject, I've never owned a factory turbo car until now.
Did he retro fit the indirect tpms, he said factory which from the mk5 there direct. Wonder what year that is. I have a 07 mk5 and has direct tpms which isn't abs, mk6 started using it in 2011, not sure if they used it from 2007.5 to 2010 mk5's.

Depending on the mileage on the vehicle the catalytic converters can become restrictive and reduce power and increase full consumption. On turbo cars it definitely helps the turbo and maybe provide some power gains but minimal without a software tune.
With all the time and money spent on this build why did this guy feel the need to lie about the car. There is no cts intake manifol, hes running the stock unit with a tb spacer.
