Wartime Sarajevo, summer of 1993, worst part of war, no food, no water, no gas, no electricity...but sun is setting and bombing ceased for a moment and our street comes alive with laughter, I stand looking through broken window on 6th floor listening to my walkman, friends who would not be alive next month are out and calling me down to play, everything is pink, destroyed and half empty buildings are like black megaliths. Incredible but illustration and music is almost exactly what I've seen and heard that long lost day.
Wow, that sounds like such a surreal and intense experience. It’s amazing how even in the darkest times, moments of joy and connection can shine through. The way you described everything-especially the contrast of the pink sky and the broken buildings-really paints a vivid picture. It’s moments like those that make life feel so real, even amidst chaos. What music were you listening to on your Walkman?
@@PoisonelleMisty4311 Thank you for your kind words. I can't remember exactly what the song was but since I only saved a few tapes from the apartment I'm pretty sure it was something by Denis & Denis, probably Soba 23.
I had the same feeling with the high buildings in Beirut 😢 I'm half italian so am far and safe but suffering a lot calling my family there everyday, stained by that sense of guilt of being here. Nonetheless, the feeling is similar to the one you described. This picture somehow reminds us both of a calm before the storm, enjoying the fleeing moments of joy before another wave of pain. Bless you guys. Take care. Hug from a lebanese italian (in warsaw in this very right moment)
I was 10 yrs old and living in mid-west America in a small town. Summers were full of me, my brother and my friends riding our bikes all over town. Playing little league baseball. Staying out until the streets lights came on. Riding my bike to the library to hang out and read books all day by the window. Coming home and switching on my NES to play Megaman 2. Walking to school. Collecting basketball cards and eating too much candy. I'm 41 now and remember it like was yesterday.
1 year old but it was a similar experience I'm sure that being born in the 50s-70s was really great too because you got to see some cool decades and be a teen or adult in the 80s But being born in the early 80s and experiencing the 90s as a kid was absolutely incredible.
I vividly remember 1993 and many things I did as a teenager. I bought my first computer, bought my first CDs and started my music collection, went to my first middle school dance and still keep in touch with a few friends from those school days...time flies!
This post reminds me that no matter all the money or materialistic things we have there is nothing more precious than time and living in the moment. Much love all have a good one 🫡
Since I came across this whole wave culture and genre, my life has become better and more beautiful. I can lay in bed for hours just listening to the music and looking at vapor wave aesthetics.
It sounds like you enjoy music that falls into genres like ambient, chillout, or downtempo, which emerged and gained popularity in the early 90s. Artists like Air, Moby, and Zero 7 created soundscapes that are perfect for relaxation and focus. If you're looking for recommendations or specific playlists, I’d be happy to help! Do you have a favorite artist or specific type of sound you’re drawn to?
In the 90's I had moved onto grunge music for the most part, and I was able to share that with my gf at the time which was an awesome experience. But having said that, I love what you've done here and love this whole category of music!
It sounds like you’re experiencing some powerful nostalgia! Music has a wonderful way of evoking memories and emotions. What kind of mix are you listening to? Is it filled with songs from a specific time in your life, or does it have a particular theme?
The music is more close to the mid - late 80's and not 1993, but the sad picture looks perfect because from 1993-97 was a depressing period for the middle class in the US.
Realmente. Eu sempre ouço quando estudo e quando viajo de SP para MG. Me dá uma sensação boa de distância e que tudo flui... e que existem milhares de pessoas e coisas e animais por aí, cada um de um jeito. Muito interessante a vida.
This isnt actually from 1993... just a vibe. If you want some electronic music from 1993 you can look up Speedy J, The album "ginger" was released in 1993. Mainstream music was stuff like "What is love" , "thats the way love goes" and Mr Vain in the club scene and over in Metal where it was much more popular at the time bands like Sepultura Tool, Carcass , Rush etc all had good albums - I was still young and came more into it all in the late 90s but music was more or less like that in 1993.

Huh. about the same time I got into computers as well. Right on to the BBS scene after slaving over many many yards for enough money to buy a modem.

An amazing mix
So chill and unostentatious, yet energetic
Great for coding, thank you

I love this mix but was definitely not listening to anything that sounded remotely like this in 1993 haha.
I don't even remember much about 93, I'll be fine if the next couple years breeze past with minimal people interactions irl lol
It’s more 83 but memories are but you can choose to imagine in your mind it’s 93 if you so choose
I thought music was mostly bad in 1993! I would have enjoyed chilling to this playlist.

'93 here.
Born in 1983❤

1993 is here.
this sounds beautiful but nothing like 1993 at all
Hehe 😂
feel good
Where can we find these tracks individually?
Dark Horizons is insanely good. Do you have an extended mix?
Yea I started to get that vibe too. Feel like Gosling at the end of Bladerunner 2049 knowing my love was a robot.
1993 in russia was extremely as a quest to stay alive. I was a hungry drunk student romantic------
Crime and Punishment vibes
Seriously, where does this music come from?
